Conservatives begin to whisper: President Pence

May 18, 2017

Not since the release of the Access Hollywood tape, in which Donald Trump bragged about groping women by the genitals, have some conservatives thought so seriously, if a bit wistfully, about two words: President Pence.

The scandals clouding Trump’s presidency — including, most recently, his firing of FBI Director James Comey, his alleged leak of classified information to Russian officials, and reports that he urged Comey to drop an investigation into a top aide — have raised once more the possibility that Trump could be pushed aside and replaced by Vice President Mike Pence.

“If what the [New York Times] reported is true, Pence is probably rehearsing,” one House Republican who asked not to be named quipped Wednesday. “It’s just like Nixon. From the standpoint that it’s never the underlying issue, it is always the cover-up.”

The still far-fetched proposition of removing Trump from office has increasing appeal to Republicans who are growing weary of defending Trump and are alarmed by his conduct in office. But such whispers are cringe-worthy for Pence and his aides, who have made an art of not upstaging the mercurial president. Pence’s press secretary declined to comment for this article.

Another thing we DON’T need is for so-called conservative publications to headline this shit. Or maybe they are as bad as the liberal rags, trying to capture attention. The best way to help stop this shit is to just leave it alone and only report positive FACTS. The libturds capitalize on this and the3se kind of stories only promote and expand the crap.

    1. EH says:

I agree! Some of the so-called Conservative “News” put out on the internet, especially, is pure horse rubbish! You start to read something called “Conservative” or “Patriotic” something or other, and before long you realize that somehow you are reading a Socialist Addicts piece cloaked in a Conservative Suit!

It’s unmentionable, if not inevitable, that Pence would replace Pres. Trump. I don’t like to think about it anyway as Pence has so many factors against him governing in the middle where most of us live. His Indiana record is does not recommend him to moderates or extremists, from infrastructure supporters to evangelical ascendancy religious groups. Yet 2020 has no clear Democratic frontrunner aside from Sen. Sanders or Sen. Warren, both of whom are narrow issue candidates, not broad appeal comprehensive policy candidates.

Brain dead–look at the pictures of Flynn dining with Putin where he addressed everybody; check news reports of Manaforte working for Putin’s stooge president in Ukraine before the people threw them out; this is all public knowledge–proof. Wake up.

          2. Webb says:

As a good Liberal, you have become judge and jury, from heresay and pictures.

And those thinking “president Pence” are to ignorant to see that the media will begin on him next if Trump is ousted. A president Ryan may as well have been a president Hillary Clinton. Stand up for Trump and if necessary take up arms against the dark government attempting to remove President Trump from office without just cause. Freedom is not free, and will be lost by cowards who shrink back from their patriotic duty.

  • goldie says:

The media-made-up scandals, you mean. We have to give credibility to these liars and whiners, who have been calling for impeachment since before he was inaugurated? Wait until the 2018 elections and see how the people feel about our President. Watch out democraps and rinos, your shi..ing days are almost over. I want to see lawsuits against these media outlets for slander and character assasination against President Trump, Kellyanne Conway and lots of others.

What terrible journalism. As a conservative, I have been highly critical of the New York Times, CNN and other elements of the mainstream media for a long, long time for their irresponsible and sometimes false (call it “fake news”) reporting. Unfortunately, it’s very apparent to me that the mainstream media no longer has a monopoly on “fake news” as I’m beginning to see it with increasing regularity on the right as well. This article, headlined “Conservatives begin to whisper: President Pence” is a great example of what I’m talking about. After reading that headline, I thought I would be reading a story listing the names of prominent conservatives who may be considering dumping Trump in favor of Pence. However, when I read the story, I found that you cited only one quote from some anonymous House Republican. Contrary to the headline, which contains the word “Conservatives,” the story doesn’t even establish that the source of the quote is a conservative. For all I know, it could be a RINO. Without mentioning any names, the story concludes by saying that removing Trump from office “has increasing appeal to Republicans who are growing weary of defending Trump and are alarmed by his conduct in office.” A quote like this with absolutely no attribution, is something I expect to see in the mainstream media not in what purports to be a conservative website. Why should I even bother to read “1776 Coalition” if your headline writers and reporters are just as dishonest as the people specializing in this type of fake news crap at CNN, MSNBC and other left wing media?

Other GOP congressional recipients of Soros contributions include (Shockingly!) Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., ($2,500); Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. ($2,700); Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev. ($2,700); Rep. 3. Reasoned thinker says:

1American1st — Your idea, in my opinion is a GREAT one! The problem may just lie in HOW to identify (and make public) the RINOS involved? Those RINOS who are doing damage just continue to “hide in the grass.” It is maddening. Let’s start NAMING these people! I can think of two of them . . . John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Why do voters continue to vote for these two?

        1. EH says:

As previous mentioned, check the Federal Register at any main library, or your state or major cities library. There is enough written to give you a hint of where our votes really went.

          1. Reasoned thinker says:

EH — I want to acknowledge your replies to my original post to you (way above) from about a day ago . . . now the one (immediately above), which you evidently sent earlier today. First of all, I would like to say I REALLY like the “coined” term (in your first reply to me) . . . i.e., “Swamp Creatures.” I like that . . . it fits well with “. . . draining the swamp,” right?

Anyway ………. I was not aware of the availability of the Federal Register you described in “decent size” Public Libraries. I’m going to look that up the next time I visit the library in Cincinnati, Ohio. I suspect I’ll be a bit overwhelmed with the difficulty in ferreting out the information in whatever way I have to do it.

Something else too . . . In your reply to “1American1st” (several posts up from here”), you actually explain some of the reasoning you have used in your your past votes for McCain (who, obviously, has “turned” on President Trump). President Trump is someone I really like a lot! You obviously are from Arizona, and your comments are very helpful to me in my understanding. Heretofore, I have wondered why that guy keeps getting re-elected (??). Your impression of McCain being “a true Democrat . . .” seems right on target.

          2. EH says:

Thank you for your response. Much appreciated.
I was thinking about the availability of the Federal Register. It dawned on me that it could very well be available on line! It used to be a daily publication and each one not large in size. It lists and details committee discussions and addresses (or it used to) new amendments and so forth. There is a lot that goes on that the public is rarely aware of in the day-to-day business of “The Hill.” I would think the so-called news peddlers would be able to lie or spin a lot less if people knew what really was discussed and decided on for our “benefit.” Yes, much is tedious, but you can choose what you want to follow. You don’t have to read it like a novel.

          3. Reasoned thinker says:

            EH — Good insights . . . thanks again.

Problem with McCain: No one except one Democrat ran against him. Most of us here, in AZ, dislike the man. He is really over the mountain (the Hill was passed a long time ago!). If we didn’t vote for him, or chose to not vote, then we would have had a heavy Left-leaner running things. There was little choice.

Actually, McCain is not a Rhino but a true Democrat of the old school. If John Kennedy were alive today, he would be considered a Republican! That’s how far Left politics have moved in the past 5 – 6 decades.

You’e absolutely right, EH, about JFK. He was for limited government, less taxes, individual freedom, free market economics, traditional values and a strong national defense. Today these values would put him smack dab in the middle of the TEA Party, a conservative republican.

          1. pmbalele says:

You did not read my posting. We are told Trump is whining Being President Is “Too Hard” And That “People Are Really Mean To Him. Well he wanted the job badly and we gave it to him. Trump whining reminds me of Sid in Get Smart. Trump should not leave the WH because we don’t want to end up with Pence who has IQ of 89. Pence is abortion hawk, hates women’s rights. In fact I have never seen Pence with Black people. Maybe he is related to Sterling, the former owners of Lakers. As I have counseled Trump; he should avoid partying with Republicans. These are sneaky people; will laugh with you, but behind the scene they will call you “this man”. Do you know Repubs and TPs have aborted any effort to repeal Obamacare? This is because Obamacare is already a civil right Act. Trump should now expand Obamacare. I have already suggested ways to decrease or eliminate premiums and deductibles. Trump should trust us Democrats-We are for the people while Repubs are for themselves.

          3. pmbalele says:

        2. Reasoned thinker says:

EH — Totally agree . . . the problem is “How to identify them?” !!?!? Getting them out is extremely important!

          1. EH says:

One way to identify them, the Swamp Creatures, is through the Federal Register. All votes by politicians are recorded as well as what they say. Committee attendants and what they are discussing is usually listed too. Too many Americans have no idea this publication is available to them. It is a lot of reading, yes, but if people are serious about wanting to know what goes on in their name, this is the best resource.

A Public Library of any decent size should have them. Actually, most states and major cities have similar, though not as detailed, recordings of what our politicians do and say in our name.

Upon closer examination, VP Pence was a never Trumper, now we have a re-outfitted rhino. Take a closer look.

      1. Lkfeinb says:

Your God, not mine. Mine isn’t a racist or a traitor.

  • McFerguson says:

The two supposed Politico journalists who advanced this nonsense say they got their information from the N.Y. Times. Oh, and by whom at the Times? And then there’s the unnamed republican who said “Pence was probably rehearsing” in anticipation and then added, “It’s just like Nixon.” Why not name that republican? Politico apparently wants to fan the flames of hate and discontent against Trump and is trying to push the idea that among conservatives there’s a groundswell of antipathy against Trump’s presidency. If Trump’s base begins to abandoned him, then I’ll believe it, but not when some half-baked beltway journalists try to create it out of whole cloth.

    1. Ramon1710 . says:

      “just like Nixon”
Just like Hillary got thrown off the Nixon case for fraud and unprofessional conduct, she and her ilk (including the MSM) have no problem committing fraud and acting like spoiled toddlers, trying to remove President Trump.

      1. McFerguson says:

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. Hillary had an illegal, private, unsecured server in the basement of her home in Chappaqua, NY. On it she had stored thousands of government-owned documents some of which were at the highest level of classification. That is a violation of the law in itself. When she had her flunky “destroy” most of those documents she violated the Federal Records Act that pertains to the destruction of government records. And the liberal press was virtually silence during the whole debacle. If there was any justice in this world after decades of corruption, Hillary Clinton would be sitting in Fort Leavenworth federal prison as we speak. On the other hand, perhaps her loss in the November 8th election was divinely inspired.

    2. EH says:

In short, it is a lie copied from a lie!

Communism was famous for that action: So the seeds of doubt, and watch it grow!

  • Debbie says:

We the people vote him in. And just like always we are told what is best for us . To stupid to know what good for us

  • rightsright says:

Damn well better not let the Communists plant their phony BS evidence against Trump and get away with it. For eight long, long years we have been done an injustice and watched Obama run a bulldozer over our U.S. Constitution, our laws, our very core, along with our military, law enforcement and diss our allies and cozy up to all of the Islamic and Communist nations. If you are going to still hand him the keys to continue his assault on America in order to reach the goal of ONE WORLD ORDER, with only two classes of people, the elite and the lowly workers with no protection! God Bless America.

    1. EH says:

Watch the schools, from Kindergarten to the campus’. That’s where these creeps do the most harm. They are insidious. They infect the fertile mind of the young. While adults usually can determine the facts from most of the political crap that is dished out, we can’t become so involved and incensed that we ignore what goes on with our tax money behind our backs! Whether you have children in the education system of not, the future is where the young will live and determine where this Nation will be politically!

  • regulus30 says:

Mathew/Ordoric, you two are as ignorant as 48% of the left wing media jobs;; Conservatives “ARE NOT WHISPERING” President Pence ;;;;;RINOS ARE.

    1. bobnstuff says:

So you don’t think conservative want one of their own as President?

      1. regulus30 says:

bobnshit66, you and I have engaged in long meaningless exchanges before; you are too [something or other] to understand there is a difference between conservatives, Republicans and RINOS. That is all I am giving you.

        1. bobnstuff says:

The problem is you don’t seem to understand that those RINO’s as you call them are the ones that built the republican party, they still make up the better part of the party which is why they keep getting re-elected. They are not what the present far right wing call conservatives but they are the true republicans. The folk in the freedom caucus call themselves republicans but in fact they are closet libertarians. You must understand I have been a member of the real republican party for 45 years. That being said those closet libertarians should like the idea of Pence as president since he shares their view much more the Trump does.

          1. Lkfeinb says:

I do believe there are less people on this site.

  • American Me says:

SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE!!!! All we have heard is a lot of HOT air.I can say anything I want to but that doesn’t make it true.Where is the PROOF.I doubt that they have any or anything. They have been pushing this Russia story for almost 9 months without a shread of evidence just loud mouths.Show us the proof or SHUT the hell up.I’m sick of hearing it.

    1. rightsright says:

It’s all the Saul Alinsky, evil BS by Valerie Jarrett and Barack Obama, as they have all of their no conscience people working in all states to try and destroy President Trump. It is time to try Obama for treason. It is time to go after Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice and the whole bunch of traitors to America and stop this nonsense. Stop One World Order in it’s tracks. It is a powerful group of rich and ruthless people working toward it.

      1. American Me says:

All the people you mention should already be facing charges of Corruption and probably Treason.President Trump was right to fire Comey. He was covering for HRC and others.

        1. EH says:

Comey did what he was told. Bottom line; he knew he would end up dead, one way or another, like all those bodies before him who didn’t toe the line. Basically, he was screwed which ever way he turned. . . Just another misguided believer!

          1. 1American1st says:

Most recent body is Seth, the Hillary whistleblower who gave WikiLeaks her E-mails (the ones the Dems keep blaming on Russia).

        2. Anouk says:

President Trump should have gotten rid of these traitors sooner. He waited too long and now they are still free to destroy him.
Our President is a Great Patriot but he has a tendency to be too loyal sometimes with people.

    2. Lkfeinb says:

And what if you get the proof? Will you accept it or call it fake news?

  • bobnstuff says:

Trump likes skating on thin ice, he has done some very questionable actions that some say break the law. If that’s true or not it’s not the biggest problem here. The problem is our government is doing little other then dealing with the fallout from his actions and his statements. This is no way to run a country. When the president and congress should be working on the problems they are instead holding hearings on Trump and his team. The debate should be about the economy and human services not about an election from over half a years ago. You can blame the democrats for keeping the fire going but it’s the republicans that keep bringing them the fuel. Trump is Trump, he will never change. He still acts like he’s the boss on a reality TV show. He’s not the Boss, he’s the President and he needs to start acting like one.

    1. Ann says:

      1. bobnstuff says:

He should change into an effective leader if he truly wants to get the things done he promised. Right now he’s going no where fast.

    2. Pete says:

Cranium firmly placed where the sun does not shine.

      1. bobnstuff says:

I noticed you added not one thing to the thread, just made noise. Do you see Trump being an effective leader right now? Is anything getting done in Washington? Is the national debate about things that really matter? Why not say something useful if you can.

        1. American Me says:

If the Dumocrat would shut up and let the President do his job I believe things would be moving along fine. But they have to defend everything they do and that is causing a slow down.

          1. bobnstuff says:

There has always been two parties and the successful presidents are the ones that can work with both. Trump is having enough trouble with his own party.

          2. American Me says:

If Trump is Impeached or removed from office it is the end of America. If the Dumocrats regain control you can kiss your life goodbye. We are 20 TRILLION in the RED thanks mostly to Obama the most Corrupt President in history. If the debt continues to rise eventually our system will collapse, and by the way it is the dumocrats choice not to work with our President.

          3. bobnstuff says:

The Democrats would have less control under Pence then they have under Trump. Trump is doing nothing about the debt and in fact most of the things he wants to do will increase it. A true conservative will understand this. Sorry but as of right now Trump looks like he is the most corrupt president in history.

        2. 1American1st says:

If we had a REAL President last year Comey would have been fired in 2016.

The charges he laid out against Hillary were even more serious than we had heard before! Plus, it was not his call to decide whether or not she was to be indicted. He clearly should have been fired immediately!

          1. bobnstuff says:

The charges against Clinton were bogus. The FBI wasn’t the only ones looking at things. The Congress spent four years and $8 million tax dollars and came up empty. You will notice who is calling for charging Clinton, it’s not the lawyers or the people in government but the right wing talk show hosts and the unwashed masses.

          2. 1American1st says:

You can’t be stupid enough to believe what you just posted!

The corruption surrounding Hillary’s E-mail case was so blatant you would have to live in a cave in Afghanistan to not see it.

Don’t forget the 2 Snakes On A Plane, BillyBob Clinton meeting with Loretta Lynch while Hillary was being investigated. BillyBob wanted to remind her who appointed her as AG in New York…him.

Democrats are so corrupt & disgusting & defend their corruption till the end. Proof, evidence, logic doesn’t exist among Democrats!

        3. 1American1st says:

Comey should have also been fired for NOT removing McCabe as Lead Investigator on the Hillary E-mail case since his wife had ties to Hillary’s campaign & received $500,000 from Hillary’s friend, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe. WHY is corruption in the Democrat Party acceptable behavior?

          1. bobnstuff says:

If you want a contest on which party is more corrupt it would be a real horse race and a photo finish. I will say that until not to long ago the Republicans were better at the game, few people saw just how bad they were. You should take another look at the $500,000 story. It was not money give by Clinton but by supporters of the party, it went through the party and was used on the campaign. Clinton had no government office at the time and no one knew that there are any problem with her Email back then. The whole thing falls apart pretty fast when you take time to look at the facts.

    3. American Me says:

I haven’t seen anything he has done that was against the law.The President has the right to fire the FBI director for any reason or no reason at all.Comey said it himself. He also has the right to declassify any document if he deems it necessary.Yes President Trump is unlike any President we have ever had. That is why we elected him.We needed a real leader not another lying Politican. This is a Witch Hunt and nothing more. The Dumocrats want him out so they can continue their corruption.Simple as that.

      1. bobnstuff says:

As I said the problem isn’t if Trump broke the law, it’s that all Washington is doing is dealing with the fallout of his words and deeds. The White House is in the defensive mod and will stay there till Trump starts acting like a president. Trump is unlike any president we have ever had because the way he is trying to do his job doesn’t work. Under the best of times a divided party has problems running the country and these are not the best of times. Trump hasn’t figured out what his job is yet let alone how to do it. The White House needs to speak with one voice and stay on message. The president needs to get his own house in order. Until that time there will be a plague on our nation. Trump has some very good people in his cabinet but he also has some who are a clueless as he is on how to do the job and it seems that they are the ones that have his ear.

    1. Randy says:

If these so called republicans showed any conservative support we would be much further along than we are. Seems to me most would have rather had HRC. The shame of all this is on the backs of those pretending to be conservative

      1. Ann says:

You are so right, just to name a few “John McCain and Lindsey G. these men are true Democrats always have been.” always have been.

        1. Randy says:

Right on Ann plus several others there is no way you can say your a conservative and be a never Trumper. These folks are destroying things.

          1. bobnstuff says:

Trump isn’t a conservative, he goes where the wind blows. If you are a true conservative Pence would be much more to your taste since he is in fact and always has been a conservative. Both McCain and Gramm are more conservative then Trump.

  • Andy Palmer says:

What the New York Times is reporting is not true. But here is the kicker – if it was true, there is nothing wrong with any of it. These are pimples on the backs of elephants. If our current group of elected Republicans had been in charge leading up to World War II we would all be speaking German or Japanese.

    1. Ann says:

      Very well said.

    2. Pete says:

Little people grasping at straws. Proof that many so called republicans are no different than the self serving democrats.

      1. Lkfeinb says:

Did you ever think that they may be patriots?

        1. Pete says:

Obviously patriots to some country other than the United States of America. You may have hit upon the mental malady that infects those we send to Washington DC.

        2. NM Leon says:

Yeah sure, patriots that commit treason “for the good of the country”.

    3. elmcqueen3 says:

President Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to a closure…Last I heard he was a Republican…However you are correct in that most of our wars were signed on to by a Democrat President.

      1. James Maxwell says:

Unfortunately the Korean war is not over, there is only a
Cease Fire agreement between North and South Korea
at this time. We were not allowed to win that war either
because of Politics at the time, same as in Vietnam and
ever other conflict since then. There is not will in Washington
D.C. among the politicians to ever actually win any thing
just continue it so they can get fat on the backs of the
TAX PAYERS at the expense of American lives.

      2. Cadfael says:

Ah, the Democrat motto when it comes to war “Start it – then show No Guts, No Moxie! The true definition of “Yellow Dog Democrat”!
WWI – Woodrow Wilson, WWII – FDR, Vietnam – JFK/LBJ, Carter – prepped the Iran mess, and Iran-Contra War, as well as Afghanistan by letting Russians invade, BJ Clinton – Somalia “Armor is too high profile!”/Bosnia “Finance it through an AAFES Clothing Sales Surcharge on uniforms!”/Kosovo “I don’t need no stinkin’ approval from Congress!”, Barack Insane Obama – turned victory in Iraq into ISIS disaster, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Yemen, nuclear armed Iran and let North Korea become a nuclear power, let Russia annex Crimea, told them he’d “be more flexible”, reduced our Navy and nuclear arsenal unilaterally, and o.k.’d Clkinton’s sale of American Uranium resources to Russia – what a legacy, what a party! Cry if you want, but you can’t hide the facts.

        1. elmcqueen3 says:

Thanks for the facts…disparaging to most Democrats.
