On a hot streak: Trump wins Nevada

by
February 24, 2016

2016-02-24_1-06-57Donald Trump emerged victorious in Tuesday night’s Nevada caucuses in a win that continues to bolster his momentum.

ABC, NBC, Fox, and CNN all called the race for Trump just as the caucus sites closed at 9 p.m. Pacific Time. The projection came with none of the precincts reporting.

With 7.2 percent of precincts reporting, Trump was ahead with 43.18 percent of the vote, followed by Rubio with 24.45 percent and Ted Cruz with 21.62 percent.

Trump’s win comes as he sweeps all ideological segments, according to MSNBC’s exit polling. He edged out Cruz with the very conservative segment, 38 percent to Cruz’s 34 percent. And he blew out the field with somewhat conservatives, of which he won 47 percent, and with moderates, of which he won 56 percent.

He also topped Ted Cruz with evangelical voters, winning 41 percent of the bloc.

    Iowa can pound sand.

  • Wade

we are really doomed by the lack of inteligence that are voting in this election. God Help us and come quick

  • David

I see a few problems with Trump!! 1)By his own words on CBS &NBC’s Meet The Press he wants to repeal Obamacare (↑) and replace it with a system that makes the government pay for everyone’s Heathcare (↓↓↓) that is by definition single payer Heathcare what Obama/Pelosi/Reid/ other democrats wanted to begin with 2) he was pro-choice (aka pro-murder) before he saw the best ‘deal’ for running for the Presidency was in the Republican party (for him) whereupon he became Pro-Life 3) he financially supported Hillary’s 2008 Presidential campaign 4) you can’t talk & listen at the same time, and he’s talking ALL the time 5) to get something done, in the system of government the CONSTITUTION mandates you have to listen to other’s points of view (even if you disagree with them) and NOT insult/threaten (like a bully) them.

    • SABER

So which of the illegal candidates do you support to get the job done? Who is paying for Cruz and Rubio’s WALL? Probably the US citizens, then again, it will never happen since the Cubans are both for Amnesty.

      I don’t think so!
      Trump 2016!

      • David

NO one IS PAYING ME!! As to whom I support, it’s Dr Ben Carson. Experience has shown me it’s NECESSARY to ‘look under the hood’ at the ‘nuts & bolts’ of the candidates positions. I’ve been struggling under an administration that people elected with the Obama campaign saying what people wanted to hear (I’ll bring CHANGE to Washington) and NOT looking ‘under the hood’.

        • SABER

Let’s look under the hood at Dr. Carson. He is a very nice and well respected surgeon/professor. No question. I don’t see and he does not project strength that the nation’s leader MUST have in order to be successful. Weakness, reminds me of Jimmy Carter. Our US hostages were not let go until inauguration day of Ronald Reagan. Why? Because of the ability to communicate and project strength. Dr. Carson, doesn’t have it. He would do very well in a cabinet position or possibly as Surgeon General.
John Kasich is already talking weak. It sounds like he will drop out soon.
Cruz and Rubio are not Constitutionally eligible. Both parents needed to be citizens for each of them to be Natural Born. They are citizens, but NOT natural born.
Trump will do very well and win the nomination. He will then crush the soon to be indicted Hillary in the General election. He will make America Great Again because he is fed up with incompetent “leaders” who have led America astray. His strength will be the key to getting things done. He knows how to negotiate.
          TRUMP 2016!!

  • Sherylynne

Hey, Cruz…Evangelicals don’t like liars and cheaters. Get the message, loser.

  • Suzey

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Republicans should get realistic. Trump cannot win in the general election.

  • Robert Russell

MR Trump did it again he will be a great president he will know what to do to get Jobs & our economy by using common sense. LOL Common sense lacking for 7 years.

  • Seedman

I was not aware that Don Juvenile is charged with fraud and deception in California and New York and that a senior adviser is a known stock fraud felon. If Don Juvenile testifies at his court case the same way he condemns Christian Ted Cruz, then Don Juvenile will be guilty of perjury or worse.

    • SABER

Ha Ha Ha Juvenile Cruz and Juvenile Rubio will never win…. Ha Ha Ha

  • gene613

Are the evangelicals aware that Trump lied about supporting Bush? Are they awae that Tump’s illegal immigrant plane allows ALL illegal immigrants to return once they have returned via round trip ticket to their home country?Do they know Trump adds not one dollar to the Defense Dept budget for his first year? Do they kno that Trump wants the Middle East to fight it out among the forces already there, including Iran(aided by North Korea as to missiles and nuclear energy for bombs),Russia,China,Turkey? Where are these evangelicals NOW?

    • I Seigel

Who cares? Who cares about evangelicals? Who cares about the Middle East or Russia. Who cares about Trumps policies? Who cares about his bankruptcies or his flip-flopping? He’s going to make us great again!! We’re going to be winners again! He’s going to build a wall – to keep all the immigrants from LEAVING and going back to Mexico. He’s going to bomb EVERYONE! Yippee! I can’t wait! It’ll be like the Rapture combined with an All-You-Can-Eat Cracker Barrel! Heaven on Earth!

(more coffee, more Prozac, I’m feeling a little woozy)

  • don76550

Well, Webb, the corrupt liberal establishment RINO party hacks talked the talk for years and it was all lies. They are now reaping what they have planted

    • Webb

      don,
I agree with your post…and its definitely time for their reaping!
Yet, I remain Leary of Trump, he has brought many issues to the forefront. I still wonder if he can change them if voted into office?

      • don76550

Actually my choice was Cruz, with Rubio as a reluctant 2nd choice. As for Trump he may be the human wrecking ball to smash the Washington establishment. Don’t think he would hesitate to abolish whole agencies, which is long overdue. Problem is sometimes there is very little connection between his mouth and brain. In any event he is a far better choice than Clinton or Sanders. A sad commentary on our nation, out of 300 million these (including the drop outs) was the best we could muster. My favorite dropped out early, Scott Walker. You are correct in that if Trump wasn’t running, illegal immigration wouldn’t be an issue.

        • Webb

Definitely a better choice than Sanders or Clinton…
Abolishing The ABC Agencies would be a great start for Trump…Long Overdue!
I’ll hope Cruz can recover, if not I will vote Trump.

  • truth4lifetoo

Keep Rolling Donald, our survival as a country depends on you

  • Greg137

Donald trump’s Supporters are temporary in their loyalty as most won’t show up in the general election, or more likely they will switch to either Bernie and Hillary… YOU NEED THE BASE VOTERS TO WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION… TRUMP BETTER BE CAREFUL THAT HE ISN’T ABANDONED BY HIS OWN VOTERS as many are democrats… ..

    • SABER

Not true at all! You could not be any further from the truth!
All of Trump’s followers will be there running to the polls with bells on their fingers and rings on their toes!
      TRUMP 2016

  • 83ragtop50

Just what America needs for President – a foul-mouthed bragger with not moral principles. Be careful what you wish for. Trump will throw anyone under the bus based upon which side of the bed he gets up on.

    • Greg137

If he even wins which he probably won’t just like Romney…

    • Lelandjames

Hopefully it’s the lying Woman trying to get elected on the Demorat side.

      • 83ragtop50

        You are so funny.

  • pete45

Way to go Nevada and all the GOP voters who are sick and tired of the establishment candidates. It’s a new America on the horizon….and TRUMP will make it great again!

  • carl

Trump might be able to end the PC BS.

  • Webb

    Congrats to Trump…
He Talks The Talk…Will He be able To Walk The Walk?

    • SABER

Yes he will! I am confident that he will do most of the things that he is pushing for. There will be some roadblocks, of course, but I think he will negotiate to get things done. Build the wall! Bring back the jobs! Make America GREAT AGAIN!
      President Trump 2016!

      • Greg137

I wouldn’t be so sure you need the base to win the general.. I know how politics works… Crossover voters never stick with it as they are just as(if not more) likely to cross the isles back after the primaries to vote against trump in the general election… I have seen too many crossover candidates who got screwed because the base didn’t support them and the ones that crossed over, return home to their original party in time for the general election…

        • SABER

What is going on this time is not the same as before. Trump will dominate!
He will build the WALL and MEXICO will pay!
          President Trump 2016!

      • Webb

        SABER,
For the last 50 years we have had nothing but Talk from both sides of the political spectrum…while losing freedoms and liberties in our daily lives. Living by rules and regulations imposed by Government that many Americans see nor have any benefit except more cost to us by Taxes or Mandates or Everyday Purchases… I continue to look for reduced Government and less rules and regulations by someone…Trump talks great, but can he produce, can he reduce Debt, will he reduce Debt and Government?

        • SABER

I believe that Trump has the best chance of accomplishing many things. The WASHINGTON ESTABLISHMENT that includes CURRENT SENATORS Rubio and Cruz are all talk and no action with history of flip-flopping (i.e. Immigration for ILLEGALS). Both of these guys are now against illegals after they were for it. Liars.

        • Ken says

Trump is the only candidate, capable of winning, that is not owned and controlled

      • wally12

@SABER: You may be correct that Trump will do all the things that he has claimed. I don’t think so. He has a habit of saying one thing and coming back at a later date and say he didn’t say it. His past support for many liberal policies indicate he may go back on his word. Recently he has stated that his statements will change as he gets closer or is nominated or becomes president. He states that he is the greatest negotiator. That can mean that he will negotiate favorably with the liberals in areas where in the past he has held those liberal positions. I prefer an individual who has demonstrated he has fought for conservative policies. That person is Cruz. Neither, the democrats nor the republican establishment want Cruz to succeed. He projects that stance by his past opposition on bills that he sees as not being consistent with the constitution. The establishment republicans feel they can deal with Trump but know they can’t get away with non constitutional bills with Cruz. Therefore, I will stick with Cruz but if Trump does become the nominee, I will vote for him.

        • SABER

First of all, Cruz and Rubio are NOT legal to run for the US Presidency. How can you trust someone to tell the truth when they lie about this. Cruz and Rubio think they can get by with this because they feel Obama has set a precedence. Two wrongs do NOT make a right. We had two other candidates that were not legal to run as well that dropped out of the race. If the Constitution is to ever be upheld again, we first must only run legal candidates in the race.
I believe Trump is the right person for the right time. Will he be perfect? Of course not, but nobody is.
I believe he will bring back real paying jobs to this Country as in Manufacturing, and make our economy strong again. I have gone through many small towns that are broke since manufacturing left, with many there either unemployed or jobs that are unlivable wages to bring up a family on thanks to this government. I believe with God’s help first, and with Trump as our next REAL President we may be able to turn this Country around once again.

          • wally12

@SABER: Now you are going off the deep end. Trump says a lot of things and of course you believe him. Good for you. That is your choice. However, when he says he will bring jobs back, he doesn’t detail what jobs. If you think that if Trump forces some manufacturers to comeback, he will have to provide a very high incentive. He will need to address the cost of manufacturing in this country in many areas. That means he will not be able to demand higher wages for employees. All that will do is make the US products more costly to purchase. If he says he will institute a high tax on foreign goods, the competing nations will do the same for the goods we sell to them. He will need to reduce regulations on all business venture and lower the taxes for businesses. Cruz and Rubio already have this in mind so Trump isn’t the only one who looks forward to those type reductions. If he says he will keep fossil fuels low in price, he will need to stop providing subsidies for the green energies and let them compete on a level playing field. However, he already played his hand as a subsidy supplier by pandering to the Iowa governor that he would keep the mandate on ethanol fuels even though ethanol is more costly that fossil fuels. This sounds like he is a politician. In fact, Cruz stated that he would let the ethanol mandate run out and not renew it even though he knew it would cost him votes in Iowa.
Both Cruz and Rubio are legal citizens. Trump brought that up to gain votes from people by accusing the other two of a falsehood.

          • SABER

Cruz and Rubio are citizens, but NOT natural born citizens. This makes them both ineligible for President of the US (Article II of the Constitution) Neither of them are eligible for Vice President as well (12th Amendment of the Constitution). Cruz’s eligibility is being challenged on Friday this week in Illinois. Alabama and New York will follow. I have heard that Utah and even Texas may do the same thing. Legal, yeah right. Both parents (with an “S”) must be citizens at the time of birth of the candidate. Both fail this criteria. Legal citizens of the US, no problem. Natural Born Citizens of the US, huge problem. Everyone confuses citizen with Natural Born citizen because of bias. Obama set an illegal precedent for being an illegal President, so naturally (pardon the pun), Cruz and Rubio think they can usurp the office too. Not good at all! Additionally, both of these clowns say they are not “the establishment”. What? They are the only TWO that work in DC. The other three do not. Foolish lies that CruzBots at Rubio followers fall for. LIES.
As for Trump, he speaks big. But he always has. This is why he is successful. He works hard and pushes hard. This is how things get done. Trump has a high IQ and he will surround himself with the best the nation has to offer to fix the problems that have been lingering for decades. For starters, the WALL was Trumps idea. Not some weak, worthless fence that exists today, but a real WALL. No more illegals will get through, including ISIS terrorists. Cruz and Rubio talk about a WALL now. Who is going to pay for it? According to Cruz, who has no real answer, it will be Trump paying for it. What a fool. Rubio and the gang of eight and Cruz with his public record in 2013 speaking about “those to come in out of the shadows” AMNESTY, no wall will ever be built and terrorists will continue to come in.
Going off the deep end is wasting a vote on an illegal candidate. Plus, TRUMP will run the table now, so the point is moot!
            Trump 2016!!

        • RuFus92

Donald could learn from Ted on the strong constitutional issues.

          • SABER

Like running illegally by usurping the Constitution’s Article II?

    • FLChristyB

People are sheep who will follow anyone who talks tough, but they do not look at history. Trump in NOT a conservative, he talks tough about immigration and the economy, but he also supports a government controlled health care system as well as government taking private property in ’eminent domain’ cases which have become popular with developers, kicking people out of their homes to build hotels and condos! He supports abortion, and has probably only seen the inside of a Church to marry his several wives. NO, NO, NO! We need a CONSTITUTIONAL Conservative and Trump is NOT it! Up until a year ago he was a staunch supporter of Obama, Hillary, Emanuel and gave money to them and other Democrats. Why should we believe he has done a 180 in less than a year? Seriously, he is all mouth, no substance and it is sad how many people are so gullible. You know, Hitler did exactly what Trump is doing now, telling people exactly what they want to hear. He is a megalomaniac and the sheeple are eating it up….

      • Lelandjames

So your voting for Hillarty, right.

        • SABER

Or Mr. third place, illegal candidate, Cruz who will not be on the ballot in November. So she must be voting for the to be indicted Hillary.

      • Vernon W Judy

I see that you do not have your facts straight or up to date. Maybe you should watch some of the hard interviews that Hannity and Bill has done with Mr Trump. You need to listen to the whole not only parts

        • SABER

CruzBots have already made up their mind and refuse to pay attention to the truth. Too bad for them that their candidate is a loser. It makes them whine a lot.

    • Ken says

Trump has a long history of walking tall with great success. His biggest calling card is – NOT OWNED OR CONTROLLED like the rest of the candidates (with the exception of Ben Carson) Carson is a very intelligent and honorable man and may provide great service to the Country – but not as the President.

    • RuFus92

      Elect him and see.

      • Webb

Thats like buying a pig in a poke…I look for reasons that will be worth while the next presidential cycle.
