Trump Not Going to Bow Down to China

by
December 12, 2016

TrumpDonald Trump said the U.S. shouldn’t necessarily “be bound by a One-China policy” in his first Sunday show interview as president-elect, adding that he doesn’t want China telling him what to do.

When pressed about his call with Taiwan — which broke decades of diplomatic protocol — by host Christ Wallace on “Fox News Sunday,” Trump said, ” I think it actually would’ve been very disrespectful, to be honest with you, not taking” the call.

“I heard the call was coming probably an hour or two before. I fully understand the One-China policy, but I don’t know why we have to be bound by a One-China policy unless we make a deal with China having to do with other things, including trade,” Trump told Wallace. “I mean, look, we’re being hurt very badly by China with devaluation, with taxing us heavy at the borders when we don’t tax them, with building a massive fortress in the middle of the South China Sea, which they shouldn’t be doing, and frankly with not helping us at all with North Korea.”

Trump implied Sunday he would not hesitate to push China until it works on trade and its ties with North Korea.

“I don’t want China dictating to me and this was a call put into me. I didn’t make the call, and it was a call, very short call saying congratulations, sir, on the victory. It was a very nice call. Short,” Trump added.

Let me get this straight: Trump takes a phone call from the democratically elected leader of country and he is “wrong” because he is changing a policy that has been in place since the 70’s. Obama completely reverses laws and policies in place since the 60’s to ignore the “leader” of a communist country that has a horrid human rights record, and he is a hero. Am I missing something here? Obama has spent 8 years ignoring laws and policies he does not agree with, and he is a “statesman”, yet Trump takes a phone call and he’s a “loose cannon”? Thank goodness there is no media bias.

  • Askjrsk

Trump will not be lead around by the nose by anyone. Trump, in contrast to the others is a leader. He has restricted dignity to the American presidency. We were in Europe when Obama came over. They laughed at him!!!

  • ourzoo10

All this ballyhoo about Trump “accepting” a call from Taiwan..???? What do they say about Obeyme ‘making’ a call to Castro/Cuba…HUH?…didn’t think so. Pot – Kettle…

    • Mike

That is a ridiculous comparison. China is a world power with nuclear capabilities. Cuba is a poor country with virtually no military strength. I am not saying what Obama did was correct, but the comparison just does not work.

  • AKLady2015

He can’t. He has already bowed to Russia.

  • justinwachin

I’m glad to see Donald Trump is not weakly bowing to other nations. Part of making America great again is to get a strong president, again. The current president has been a weak and insignificant player on the world stage.

It’s about time that the U.S. gov’t. shows respect for the TRUE REPUBLIC of CHINA : Taiwan!

well of course he is not going to bow down. he is too busy grabbing his ankles for Russia.

    • used_to_be_a_liberal

Do you really believe that? If you do, then you are a kool-aide drinking fool, and or a supporter of Nazi Style Socialism, which we would get under the rule of the New World Order.
Do you really believe that ‘liberal” means LIBERAL, if you do, here is a news flash, it means no such thing.
Do you have a clue where your so-called “liberal progressive” ideology originated, or what it is based on, not likely.
To get to that point, teddy-bears, roses, and lolly-pops, self-imposed guilt trips, “fairness” tolerance, and the like are used, then when they have taken power, all that goes out the window, then you wake up to the shock that “liberal” does not mean LIBERAL, and there is nothing LIBERAL, about a so-called “liberal” ruler.
By the way, the media propaganda garbage that we are getting about Russia is due to the fact that Russia wants no part of this new world order garbage, also, Russia is clamping down hard on Islam with-in it’s territories, and has no use for Islamic bull manure, yes they do business with Iran, but that makes no difference.
The Obama administration is responsible for the problems in Ukraine, and in the middle east.
Do some research before you tie yourself to the National Socialist Democrat Party of America.

  • Not_Easily_Impressed

Another saying that applies: Trump is pulling their chain. It is not just one person that sees this for what it is. Trump is pulling a lot of chains, pulling a lot of ropes, tweaking a lot of noses, prodding a lot of hornets’ nests, and upsetting a lot of apple carts. It is going to be fun to watch because we’ve never had a president like Trump. Hooray for Trump.

    • Mike

Yeah nothing beats the recession China will help put us into.

      • gvette

let’s see Mike. Barry doubled our debt. We have the lowest worker participation rate since 1976. The damage was done by your impostor, gay Barry.

        • Mike

President Obama has raised the debt no question but he also helped prevent what could have been another great depression. since you brought upthe the deficit what do you think will happen if president trump enacts his policy of huge tax cuts for the rich, 1 trillion spent on infrastructure, more spent on defense etc.?

          • gvette

Well Mike, if nothing else, trump is doing more for job growth then your Muslim ever did. Gay Barry only increased the size of government. With more people working means more tax dollars for the fed. As for raising our debt? He doubled it. I’m not a Bush supporter by any means, but if you follow the progression, It was Billys housing bubble that screwed things up. Go look at the program, and progression. I did. Remember, every one of Barrys programs failed.
            QE-1, QE-2 QE-3, on, and on.

          • Mike

trump has not done anything yet. i hope he is successful. President Obama inherited a mess from bush. absolutely some of the housing market can be attributed to Clinton, but remember president Bush had 8 years to make changes and didnt. i am not sure what you are talking about with president obama. we are now one of the leaders in green energy products. he helped save the auto industry just as one example

          • gvette

Solindra comes to mind real fast. There are others. According to GAO, Barry’s bullshit in green energy losses will set the taxpayer back about 2.2 billion. Yup, a real winner there Mike! Barry backs failliers.

          • AKLady2015

            Solyndra was founded in 2005.
            It went under in 2011.
The company’s loan was processes and approved before Obama took office

          • gvette

You’re correct. It was started under bush. Then in came Barry, and the money came from his stimulus plan. Remember, Barry has three of them.
The Carrier story is true. What news do you watch?

          • chw2000

Dear Mike, I’m sure you are not aware that GWB loaned the auto industry $17.2 billion his last year in office much to the objection of the Democrat Congress. He, not Obama, started the auto industry recovery.
As for the real estate bubble, better take a look at Dodd-Frank. That had more to do with it than either Clinton or Bush. Obama only inherited what his own party left him.

          • Mike

This is only partially correct. Yes President bush started the auto bailout, but your comment about the objections of the Democratic congress is incorrect. They used money from the Wall Street bailout to fund this and the Democrats had advocated for it since the auto industry started showing problems. It was President Bush who changed course on this not the Democrats.
Your second comment makes absolutely no sense. the real estate bubble burst in 2007 and continued for the next several years. The Dodd Frank act was signed in July 2010 so how an act signed 3 years after the housing bubble caused it I have no idea.

          • Mike

i am not opposed to a lowering of the corporate tax rate, but trickle down economics has never worked so another huge tax cut for the rich will do nothing but expand the deficit. the elimination of the estate tax will also only serve the elite and will do nothing to benefit the middle class

          • gvette

I chuckle at your trickle down comment. What you don’t get is, trickle down is how commerce works. You ever work for a poor person? I think not. Most people work for someone else. Money does flo down. Your understanding of the estate tax, or better put, your lack of. Even people with property, or small businesses, will be able to pass on their property, or business, without being taxed to death.

          • AKLady2015

Trickle down economics have never worked. Reagan played that game. He increased the naitonal debt by 288%. Oh, and by the way, it is the new, small businesses that provides the majority of new jobs.

          • gvette

I agree with you on small business. It’s always been the backbone of our country.

          • Mike

I understand it fairly well. my point was that the estate tax being repealed will not help any individual in the middle class, upper middle class etc as you are aware you have to have an estate of over 5.4million before it even kicks in so repealing it would only benefit the very rich which will only serve to continue the income inequality in this country and over time hurt the middle class.
As for trickle down economics cutting an individual’s tax rate has not been shown to be a driver in the economy. As I said I am not opposed to cutting the corporate tax rate as that money may be used then to create job or buy infrastructure at companies that lead to jobs elsewhere, but giving the CEO of a company or a man with the wealth of President Trump an individual tax cut does not create jobs. that correlation does not exist.

          • gvette

I would hope you wouldn’t mind lowering the corporate rate. The United States Has the Third Highest Corporate Tax Rate among 173 Nations
You seem to be against Trumps taxes paid. Trump owns 500 businesses. Pays a lot of people good money. Pays taxes using the same rules we have to go by. He’s created tons of jobs. How many jobs has your pal Killary ever created?

          • AKLady2015

We have two wars to pay for.

Time to go back to the WW II era tax rates — the top rate was 95%.

There was a time when Americans tooj pride in paying taxes. The paradox today is that the tax burden on most Americans is at the lowest level since at least 1979.

          • gvette

Well, there is nothing stopping you from giving up 95% of your pay to taxes. Did you send the big check yet? No? I didn’t think so. There’s a big difference between what was taxed then, as to know.

“The Economics of Household Air Pollution”
Jeuland, Marc; Pattanayak, Subhrendu K.; Bluffstone, Randall. Annual Review of Resource Economics, October 2015, Vol. 7. doi: 10.1146/annurev-resource-100814-125048.

Abstract: “Traditional energy technologies and consumer products contribute to household well-being in diverse ways but also often harm household air quality. We review the problem of household air pollution at a global scale, focusing particularly on the harmful effects of traditional cooking and heating. Drawing on the theory of household production, we illustrate the ambiguous relationship between household well-being and adoption of behaviors and technologies that reduce air pollution. We then review how the theory relates to the seemingly contradictory findings emerging from the literature on developing country household demand for clean fuels and stoves. In conclusion, we describe an economics research agenda to close the knowledge gaps so that policies and programs can be designed and evaluated to solve the global household air pollution problem.”

Yes, Barry Onigger has put on 20,642 new regulations. The tide of red tape that threatens to drown U.S. consumers and businesses surged yet again in 2015, according to a Heritage Foundation study we released on Monday. More than $22 billion per year in new regulatory costs were imposed on Americans last year, pushing the total burden for the Obama years to exceed $100 billion annually.

Abstract: “Airborne polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are widespread urban air pollutants from fossil fuel burning and other combustion sources. Methods: Children of nonsmoking African-American and Dominican women in New York City were followed from in utero to 6-7 years. Prenatal PAH exposure was estimated by personal air monitoring of the mothers during pregnancy as well as … in maternal and cord blood…. Results: High prenatal PAH exposure, whether characterized by personal air monitoring (greater than the median of 2.27 ng/m³) or maternal and cord adducts (detectable or higher), was positively associated with symptoms of Anxious/Depressed and Attention Problems.”

Introduction: “While outdoor physical activity has been shown to promote health and wellbeing, exercising in environments with high levels of air pollution can increase the risk of health problems ranging from asthma attacks to heart or lung pathologies. The interaction of these two phenomena is of specific significance in China, where outdoor physical activity has been a traditional practice but where rapid industrialization has led to major degradation of the environment. Summary: Researchers investigated the link between premature death and seven sources of air pollution in urban and rural environments. They determined, through calculations, that outdoor air pollution led to 3.3 million premature deaths worldwide in 2010, mostly in Asia. Model projections suggest that premature deaths caused by outdoor air pollution could double by 2050. The researchers predict “moderate though significant increases of premature mortality will occur in Europe and the Americas, to a large degree in urban areas.”

In April 2015, Bill Clinton was forced to abruptly resign from his lucrative perch as honorary chancellor of Laureate Education, a for-profit college company. The reason for Clinton’s immediate departure: Clinton Cash revealed, and Bloomberg confirmed, that Laureate funneled Bill Clinton $16.46 million over five years while Hillary Clinton’s State Dept. pumped at least $55 million to a group run by Laureate’s founder and chairman, Douglas Becker, a man with strong ties to the Clinton Global Initiative. Laureate has donated between $1 million and $5 million (donations are reported in ranges, not exact amounts) to the Clinton Foundation. Progressive billionaire George Soros is also a Laureate financial backer.

As the Washington Post reports, “Laureate has stirred controversy throughout Latin America, where it derives two-thirds of its revenue.” During Bill Clinton’s tenure as Laureate’s chancellor, the school spent over $200 million a year on aggressive telemarketing, flashy Internet banner ads, and billboards designed to lure often unprepared students from impoverished countries to enroll in its for-profit classes. The goal: get as many students, regardless of skill level, signed up and paying tuition.

Trump University was a fraudulent organization.
It was not licensed. The State of New York filed criminal money laundring charges.

Could his judicial appointments be influenced by his own court cases?

He attacked a federal judge who is presiding over the lawsuit against Trump University, saying District Judge Gonzalo Curiel is biased against Trump because the judge is of Mexican descent and Trump proposes a “great wall” along the Mexican border.

Who will Trump appoint as Education secretary, . somebody with favor to for-profit colleges?”
Then there is the IRS audit? What it the IRS nails him wth civil penalties? What if they find fraud and take criminal action?

          • gvette

No, it wasn’t fraudulent. It was just a few assholes that went to school, got out, and failed. So they decided to get bring a lawsuit because they were lazy, and stupid. I read the case. Fun to watch the man destroy friendships and stir up war?

      • Pete

Have you been in a war? I have and I will take a strong leader over a wimp like the one we have in office until January 20th. Every Dec 7, 1941. Sept 11, 2001 gets are two modern day examples of a foreign power thinking we were weak. (Yes Traitor Bill made us look weak). Strength during the cold war period kept Russia & China convinced that a war with the US was not survivable. It still isn’t survivable in spite of the efforts of Traitor Bill (present day China & North Korea are his legacy) & Obama (Iran & ISIS to mention a few) fool hardy efforts to make nice with bad people.

        • Mike

I am confused as to how 9-11 was President Bill Clinton’s fault. If a foreign power thought we were weak then they thought so while under a Republican administration as President Bush had been president for over 20 months at the time

          • Pete

After eight years of on again off again dealings with Iraq over the no fly zones and inspection runarounds what Muslim nation wouldn’t think the US was weak & vulnerable. The purposeful watering down of the national intelligence gathering capability in the name of individual privacy early in his administration was costly. Most of Clintons inner circle (because of 1960’s questionable friendships) couldn’t pass a standard FBI background check so that function was turned over to a civilian contractor. For those same reason inner agency transfer of information was sharply curtailed. During the last half of Clintons administration the US was nearly blind to middle east on the ground reality and the Islamic Governments in the region were well aware of that blindness.

        • AKLady2015

          I am a retired surgeon.
          I served in Vietnam.
Having sewed bodies back togeather and listened to men cry for their mothers, I probably have a very different view of war than you do.

Bush’s wars killed 4,000 Americans and left over 100,000 injured and disabled. Those wars murdered over 1 million innocent women, children and elderly,

The radioactive waste left on those countries is coninuing to maime and kill. Unless cleaned up by America, that waste will maime and kill for centuries.

You see. America’s armor-piercing shells are tipped with U238. Don’t let the words “DepletedUranium” fool you. The substance is highly radioactive.

The Cold War game gave us the never ending national debt. Reagan’s Administration increased that debt by 289% Bush’s two, unecessary wars increased that already inflated debt by another 1o1%

          • Pete

Your view is not that different from mine. I dealt with the carnage before you folks in the medical profession saw them. What I am saying is that strong national leaders with knowledgeable subordinates are the primary impediment to wars. Those who fully understand the terrible result of armed conflict are in the best possible position to avoid that conflict.
Insulated politicians have been calling the shot since WWII & what have we got for it? All of those wars you falsely blame on the US military.
