Canada, Mexico leaders to discuss NAFTA strategy this weekend: source

The leaders of Mexico and Canada will hold talks this weekend on the potential impact that a Donald Trump presidency could have on the NAFTA trade pact, a source close to the matter said on Thursday.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto will meet on the sidelines of an Asian regional summit in Lima, Peru, and intend to speak to each other more frequently about their NAFTA strategy in the months to come, said the source, who declined to be identified given the sensitivity of the issue.

Trump, who takes office in January, says he will either tear up or push to renegotiate the trilateral North American Free Trade Agreement, under which Canada and Mexico both send the vast majority of their exports to the United States.

“The two men will run through a number of scenarios in Lima and talk about how to address them,” said the source.

“They will hold more frequent talks on NAFTA in the coming months as the president-elect’s plans become clearer.”

Trump is right to renegotiate these deals. Canada and Mexico know they have not that much to worry about but we do need to level the playing field. Also will be nice to see America stop giving billions to countries who don’t need it and who hate us like Saudi Arabia, like they need money, strange bedfellows they are, along with Japan and others. When we stop giving all the billions to the UN for Climate Change that clearly is nothing but a redistribution of wealth scheme and has been proven to be just that, we will have billions for our own.

America first, that goes for no more of the refugees and illegals getting benefits and taking away from our SS and our security. Enough.

These countries are the number two and number four trading partners with the US and we have a much closer balance of trade with them then with the rest of the world. If Trump really wants to go after some one on trade it would be China and the EU our number one and number three trading partners. They both like selling us stuff but don’t feel a need to buy our goods. I hope Trump figures out who are friends are fast before he starts messing around with trade. In 2014 we exported $1.46 Trillion, that’s a lot of jobs for American workers. The only country that exports more the the US is China.
