Italian leaders vowing to shelter no more rescued migrants

Italy Migrants-1ROME – Heartened by recent election successes by an anti-immigrant party, Italian politicians based in the north vowed Sunday not to shelter any more migrants saved at sea, even as hundreds more were being rescued in the Mediterranean from smugglers’ boats in distress.

Elsewhere in the country, however, corruptions investigations have revealed that some local officials gleefully see a cash cow in the shelters.

After nearly 3,500 migrants were rescued in a single day Saturday by an array of European military vessels, well over 1,000 more were being plucked to safety from at least 14 boats that ran into difficulty Sunday shortly after smugglers set off with them from Libyan shores, said a U.N. refugee agency official, Federico Fossi. Two German military ships brought a total of some 1,400 people to Sicilian ports Sunday, a day after they were rescued.

  • Let a few of the boats sink and the people drown, maybe they will stop coming! I don’t blame Italy at all, or any other European Country that refuses anymore of these Muslims! So many are coming and putting a burden on other countries finances and resources. They need to stay and try to change their own Nations instead of running and causing problems to others! Once any Muslim Population, even with immigrants, becomes a certain percentage, then they wills start making demands and trying to change their host country into the same kind of sewer they ran away from! One Way is for them to deny their Islamic belief and become Christians, otherwise, their fellow Muslim Nations can help them or they can drown!

Again, we see a concerted effort to undermine a nations sovereignty. Why do this migrants not go to countries closer to their own? Of course no others would put up with them or give them such benefits. Good for the Italians, about time to keep your nation culturally pure as all nations would like to do.
