Call for Supplies as Oregon Standoff Enters Second Week

by  |  published on January 11, 2016

The occupation of national wildlife area by a small, armed group upset over federal land policies stretched into its second week as the mother of the group’s leader asked supporters to send supplies — everything from warm blankets to coffee creamer.

The group that seized the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon’s high desert country on Jan. 2 planned no media briefings. It was quiet at the entrance to the refuge Sunday.

The leader of the occupation, Ammon Bundy, has repeatedly rejected calls to leave buildings at the refuge despite pleas from the county sheriff, from many local residents and from Oregon’s governor, among others. He has said the group will leave when there is a plan to transfer control of federal land to locals.

Here is and idea, why don’t they offer to buy the land they are using from the government at market value. Then they can pay taxes on it. It;s not like they are poor. Also when they over graze it it becomes their problem. Most states don’t want the land, it costs to much to maintain. Let the ranchers buy the land.

The unelected bureaucrat policy makers at the BLM sure know how to over step their mark; don’t they? If the geography of each of the 50 States is sovereign to that state; how can the govt have any say about the land WITHIN the boundary of that State??? They have Washington, D.C. and they can’t even make that work right….. Good Luck, Mr. Bundy, but; don’t check the depth of the water with both feet. If you ain’t a good swimmer, you might drown…..

e pluribus unum: a phrase on the Seal of the United States, along with Annuit cœptis (Latin for “He/she/it approves (has approved) of the undertakings”) and Novus ordo seclorum (Latin for “New Order of the Ages”), and adopted by an Act of Congress in 1782. I trust my state government (Wisconsin) much less than the federal government.

Someone that knows that reason for the protest! Oregon is a State not a Territory, the BLM needs to turn over.
