First New Coal Mine of Trump Era Opens in Pennsylvania

June 12, 2017

New-Mine-in-PAPresident Trump lauded the opening of the nation’s first new coal mine in recent memory.

Corsa Coal Company will operate the mine in Somerset County, Pa. – outside of Pittsburgh.

Corsa CEO George Dethlefsen said the mine will be a boon to the struggling local economy.

He praised Trump’s easing of regulations and encouragement for fossil fuel exploration.

Dethlefsen told Leland Vittert that for the 70 positions available in the mine, 400 people applied.

“It’s a hard day’s work every day, but it’s worth it,” one miner said.

Vittert said the news contrasts with Hillary Clinton’s message that she would “put a lot of coal miners out of work.”

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D), who endorsed Clinton, joined the mine company in watching a video message from Trump commemorating the occasion.

70 new jobs that will last 15 years if they are lucky. Lets thank Bush, Obama and to a very small amount Trump since planning for the new mine started in 2006 and all the hard planning was while Obama was in office. You don’t just decide to open a mine over night, it takes years of planning. Most of the coal will be exported since the market for it in the US is limited thanks to Natural Gas prices. Corsa Coal is not a profitable company and hasn’t been for a while. They got a new division president hoping to turn things around.

I happy for those 70 people who found jobs and wish them good luck. That brings the total of new jobs in coal up to almost 500 under Trump.

Under onigger, it may never have opened. 70 more working isn’t much, but it’s better then Oniigher ever did! Then there’s the steel mill that opened in Ohio. Look up the thousands of job killing regulations Onigger put on, to stifle job creation.

The regulatory costs of President Obama’s historic wave of new regulations reached $164 billion in 2016, and last minute “midnight” rules could add another $30 billion as he tries to nail down his legacy before President-elect Trump takes office.

A new analysis of the regulations also shows that in the last year the regulations threatened or killed thousands of blue collar jobs and more cuts could result from the regulations the administration still plans to make in the coming week.

      1. bobnstuff says:

Once again you are clueless, They had everything lined up before Trump was elected to open the coal mine, go read the financial reports of the company. Funny thing but I can find no news about steel mills opening under Trump but they did open a number under Obama. I guess 20,000 new jobs per month wasn’t enough for you but 13,000 is a lot. People are leaving the work force at the high rate. If you check you will find the industries that are being regulated aren’t fighting for the repeals in most cases. The cost of regulations is less the 1% of the economy. A small price to pay for a cleaner environment, safer work places and safer products. You once again don’t understand where the blue collar jobs are going. It’s call automation, Robots not rules are changing things. You really need to try to understand how the economy works and read the financial pages once in a while.

          1. bobnstuff says:

Once again your are trying to give Trump credit for something he had nothing to do with. The mill was bought in 2012 and Trump had nothing to do with it being reopened. You seen to think that you can just decide to open a steel mill over night. It take at least 5 years of planning to open one, Any steel mills Trump can claim won’t be opening till 2022 at the earliest. That plant will only employ a small percentage of the people that it once employed.

          2. gvette says:

That’s just a start bob. With doing away with the thousands, yes thousands of business strangling regulations your business hating black boy put on, more will come along.

        1. Rodney Steward says:

You’re never gonna learn are you bobby! gvette is over your head!

          1. mrpoohead says:

……and everybody is well above yours.

          2. Rodney Steward says:

LOL, lets call the kettle black, you and bob-and-stuff-it would make good room mates, you 2 sure think alike!! LOLOL…….

          3. mrpoohead says:

I present facts – which is why you can’t refute squat and why I walk all over you.

Liberals on the other hand tend to have the facts correct, it is what they would do with them that I may disagree with.

          4. Rodney Steward says:

Walk all over me, in YO dreams F-BOY, you do know the Dems are in general a weak minded bunch, and that’s what islam feeds on, weak minds!

          5. mrpoohead says:

Think you’ll find the Alt-right is for the weak minded – that’s why they believe the drivel they write which invariably has no substance to back it up. Why do you think I can walk all over it. Not rocket science!

          6. Rodney Steward says:

OHHH, you’re use to the Obama tribe, and been dumb down like the White house was for him and his tree monkey’s! It’s back to being educated again, maybe you just can’t handle the education part! And by the way Mr. rocket science, noticed the trouble in Germany and now in England with the GREAT FIRE that they now think was started! But you still LIE about the violence!! I’d say WEAK MINDED alright!!

          7. mrpoohead says:

Great Fire of London 1666 – are you blaming Muslims for that?

No terrorist incident in Germany since 2015 – they have more Muslims per capita but bizarrely fewer problems. If you mean the current one in Notting Hill – nothing is known, you’re speculating with no substance. the remit of the Alt-right!!!!!!!!

Am still waiting for proof on what Obama did and how – nothing huh!

      2. I Seigel says:

Here’s a quote from the local paper there:
“In truth, permitting for the new mine dates as far back as 2010, Corsa executives say in an interview. But the real work on the new mine didn’t heat up until last September, two months before the presidential election was decided.”

Facts are bitch gvette. Try them sometime.

        1. gvette says:

          Because Omuslim would be gone.

    2. Rodney Steward says:

Better than the TOTAL of 70 part time jobs created over his 8 years! GIT-ER-DONE BOO BOO!!

      1. bobnstuff says:

I’m sorry if you didn’t get one of those part time jobs, to bad. Of course there were those other 20,000 jobs per months created in the last 8 years. Now we have the great job creator who is getting 13,000 per month using the same numbers.

        1. Rodney Steward says:

20,000 a month, boy you fell for that FAKE BS, but that’s the weakness of the Dem. party! Like II said, these are real jobs and not part time!

          1. bobnstuff says:

So Trumps 13,000 is also fake since they came from the same place. The fact that everyone who can do a job now has one and employers are having a hard time finding people doesn’t count. Those 70 jobs had 400 people applying for them, back in 2009 there would have been 2000. Of those 400 people over half couldn’t pass the drug test or physical.

          2. I Seigel says:

How about all those Carrier jobs that Trump took credit for saving? 1200, wasn’t it? Then 800 were let go, now the rest. But Carrier is keeping the tax bonuses that Indiana gave them. I guess Carrier is smarter than Trump, Pence and Indiana. No big surprise though.

      2. I Seigel says:

Rodney, do you remember not so long ago the coal ash pond in North Carolina that leaked and then broke wide open, polluting the river for hundreds of miles downstream? Duke Power had a shitstorm on their hands. Remember? So when this Penn. coal mine goes into operation and it inevitably pollutes the groundwater or air for the communities around it, it will be YOUR tax dollars cleaning up the mess. All for 70 jobs and the profits of the mine owners.

    4. I Seigel says:

And I’ll bet 50 of those jobs are managers, accountants and people who will program and operate the automated mining equipment. You’re not going to see 70 people with pickaxes on their shoulders marching off to work, singing Hi Ho, Hi Ho…..
