A New Jersey public school teacher who instructed her third-grade students to write “get well” letters to a convicted cop killer was fired at a raucous school board meeting that stretched into the wee hours of Wednesday morning, despite her pleas that “there’s a community behind me.”

Marylin Zuniga, a first-year teacher who drew widespread condemnation for assigning her young charges the task of writing to Mumia Abu-Jamal, was canned at the meeting of the Orange Board of Education, the Star-Ledger of Newark reported.

Zuniga, who taught at Forest Street Elementary School, told board members prior to their hasty vote to can her that she has broad support from around the country, the newspaper reported.

“There’s people around the nation who support me, who believe I need to be reinstated and I believe that I need to be reinstated,” Zuniga said. “My students need me in the classroom. My students have requested that I come back to the classroom.”

Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go. You can’t fix stupid. This teacher is right dumb. Hope she loses her pension as well.

Sacking her is a good start. Next step ought to be to pull her teaching credential, and never allow her to apply for another one ever again, anywhere in North America. And furthermore, that woman justly deserves to be confined only to the most mundane, low pay, with no benefits, employment situations, for a long time, till we’re absolutely sure that she’s learned her lesson. And even then, she should never be allowed to become a schoolteacher, ever again. She’ll just have to find an employment situation, that keeps her well isolated from vulnerable children, teens, and young adults.

Maybe Zuniga can find a job around the country since she has so much support. America has plenty of fools willing to support another fool.

True. Look what we have a president.

I wonder if Marylin shared her note; something like Dear Murderer, this community supports you. Will visit , petition for your release, and riot on your behalf. Do you need a Koran?

The Democratic Party – indoctrinate the teachers – who in turn indoctrinate the students – who in turn subvert America to self destruction

And even in super-left-leaning Orange County, N.J. They didn’t see this coming? First year teacher? Where was her mentor or principal to tell her, “umm…nah, probably not a good idea on this one” before she gave the assignment? Or at the outset, before it all blew up?
Once again, adults use children as their useful innocents.
Perhaps the letters should have been written to the officer’s grieving spouse, and the officer’s devestated children, if a parent.

What a disgrace it is to have such people in charge of children. There are many, many more like her in our schools especially in colleges.

Is the tide turning? Are people, like members of this school board, realizing that we have let the inmates run the asylum and are starting to fight back? One hopes so.

Believe me! They’re only looking out for their own self interests.

If she feels that strongly about it maybe she should see if she can be his cell mate.

Or maybe she could move to iran or any other ME country where she might be more appreciated. As of now she is only loved by liberals in America..

Right out of Brokeback 0bama’s playbook.

Her students are 3rd grade kids that have no way of knowing they are being indoctrinated. The people were righ to fire her.
