North Dakota House Majority Leader Wants State to Sue Feds Over Refugee Resettlement

by Michael Patrick Leahy  |  published on May 5, 2016

State Rep. Al Carlson of Fargo, the Republican Majority Leader in the North Dakota House of Representatives, tells Breitbart News he wants the state to sue the federal government over the refugee resettlement program.

As in Tennessee, where the General Assembly recently declared its intent to sue the federal government on Tenth Amendment constitutional grounds, North Dakota is one of fourteen states that have withdrawn from the federal refugee resettlement program where the federal government continues to resettle refugees under the Wilson-Fish alternative program.

“If that Tennessee lawsuit is going forward when the state legislature convenes in January, I would push to do that,” Carlson tells Breitbart News about passing legislation authorizing North Dakota to sue the federal government over refugee resettlement on Tenth Amendment grounds.

“I think the current Attorney General [Wayne Stenehjem] would be behind doing that as well. I don’t know about the other candidate for governor,” he adds.

Leading NGOs (non-governmental organizations) which have worked closely with refugees are fiercely critical of the Gulf states.

The executive director of Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth, lashed out at them on Twitter, captioning the photograph of an overloaded migrant vessel with: “Guess how many of these Syrian refugees Saudi Arabia & other Gulf states offered to take? Zero.”

    Saudi Arabia took ZERO.
    Kuwait took ZERO.
    Bahrain took ZERO.
    Qatar took ZERO.
    United Arab Emirates took ZERO.

Why? They are MUCH smarter that the EU, Canada and the USA. They saw them correctly as extreme security risks.

All the states should be suing for this breach of not only security but expense. And we the people need to clean the trash out of DC. This is a yugh breach of security and everyone knows it including this unlawful administration. The heads of the agencies cannot say they were made to do a damn thing. They have done this with zeal and should pay dearly. Retribution is coming fools.

lets hope that Trump rounds then all up and sends them right back….and prosecutes those who bent the laws to bring these uncivilized people here for us to support.

      That is the plan!

They’re basically busing this trash in over night, and want to flood the west and south with them, and is a big reason for some of the land grabbing by the Gov.

I’m all for this, but Mr. Carlson should keep in mind that this same POTUS and his administration that has thumbed their collective noses at the Constitution has also been known to thumb their noses at the Courts. I still say that we should try and convict Mr. Obama of treason for all the damage that he has done to the Constitution and to American citizens/interests, then send him on a one-way trip to Gitmo so he can pal around with the kind of people that he is resettling here with the rest of us. All the while, the only wall he is interested in building Is around the White House.

This may happen as those things done in the dark come to light. However, we need to vote every dem lemming and rino out at every opportunity to lower the resistance in both houses of the congress. Right now even Trump would have a problem with that DC trash in congress. They will change the minute their free rides are threatened and we need to sweep em out at every opportunity. No new dems elected to any post, no current dems or rinos reelected and vet those who are new and running. Remember, many running do lie about their intent so their history whatever it may be is important. IE: case in point, BO was an activist in Chicago and his friends were racist and generally moslimes. Remember that in looking em over if they have no political history.

Agreed! I generally prefer to be informed when I vote; blind or emotional voting is always a bad idea! And I know what you mean about the integrity of most of our elected officials of both parties — I have observed the same thing. Definitely time to clean house — looking forward to the elections in November!
