Quayle Rules Out 2014 Run for Anything

Former Rep. Ben Quayle, R-Ariz., is not running for public office anytime soon — especially next year.

“On the political side, there’s nothing on the radar for me right now,” Quayle told CQ Roll Call in a Wednesday phone interview. “2014 is definitely not happening, but who knows what’ll happen sometime down the road.”

Quayle joined Clark Hill PLC, a Detroit-based law firm, earlier this week as senior director in its Government and Public Affairs Group. Quayle will work under Charlie Spies, a top GOP strategist who ran a major super PAC, Restore our Future, that helped GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in 2012.

Quayle lost a competitive primary last cycle against a fellow member, Rep. David Schweikert. A redrawn congressional map set the stage for the two freshman Republicans to face off against each other in one of the state’s safest GOP districts.
