The Nebraska U.S. Senate primary race between Deb Fischer and AG Jon Bruning is wrapping up, and a third-party group that hadn’t stated its preferred candidate has nouw bought $200,000 worth of statewide ad time – with a spot called “Him: Anyone but Bruning.”
The group Ending Spending, created by Joe Ricketts, a former Omaha businessman whose kids are part owners of the Chicago Cubs, is behind the spots, which slam the AG and accuse him of getting rich on the job.
“For character? Anyone but Bruning,” the spot concludes.
The last-minute influx of cash has the potential to put a thumb on the scale in the race, which also features state treasurer Don Stenberg.
