War on Men: First Arrests for ‘Manspreading’ on New York Subway

Two men have been arrested in New York for ‘man-spreading’ – the act of taking up too much space on the underground or metro system. The arrests have come to light in a report on the efficacy of ‘broken window’s policing in New York.

Man-spreading came to prominence through a politically correct public-shaming Tumblr campaign which described the practice as “a classic among public assertions of privilege”, although it was the AM New York blog which coined the term in October last year. Breitbart London covered it as well.

That blog notes that taking up more than one seat on the metro is technically illegal under Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) disorderly conduct rules, if doing so interferes with the comfort of other passengers. Passengers caught man-spreading can find themselves in line for a $50 fine, although it is not clear whether any passenger has ever been fined for taking up more room than they need.

This should not have come to be a law. Progressive Democrats feel they need to legislate practically everything. Never been to New York City. Where I come from the polite question would be; “Could you please make room?” The Bible says to make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy for without holiness no one will see the LORD. Jesus is alive and still saves!

Well, when people don’t have enough sense or consideration for others than to trespass on others personal space or infringe on their right to sit down, too, someone has to give them consequences, or they will never learn. THey are children in adult bodies that have never been disciplined, evidently, and now it’s too late to do the ‘normal’ discipline. Now it’s the civil authorities business to monitor for any infringements since they won’t conform any other way.

When I was growing up (50s) real men almost always made room for ladies, giving up their own seat. Now, finding either real men or real ladies is difficult, “courtesy is merely a social lubricant”

Is this a man? Either way man and especially if this is a woman. It is vulgar. Have people lost all sense of decency and propriety?

    • Serena ‘Debbie Orcutt’ Lembach

Of course it is a woman; to illustrate the stupidity of men taking up double space on a crowded subway..because their parents didn’t teach them to think about anyone but themselves..

In today’s tyrannical, liberal ruled insanity, whether that is a man or a woman is any body’s guess. But I’d be careful about asking…. and then calling his/her/it’s pose vulgar….that’s two counts of hate speech, you know. LOL

Then how can they call it ‘man spreading’? Isn’t it trans spreading?

        • J_R_K

Beats me. I don’t know and, frankly, I don’t wanna know.

    • db

      It would appear so.

    Just airing it out.

    I love the picture!
