Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson won the presidential straw poll at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Oklahoma City on Saturday, beating out Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Carson won 25.4 percent of the vote, while Walker took 20.5 percent and Cruz received 16.4 percent.

Other GOP presidential hopefuls and potential candidates finished far behind the top trio. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie finished a distant fourth with 5.3 percent of the vote, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry took 5 percent, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush won 4.9 percent.

RINOs are not doing well at all… GOOD! We don’t need another lame RINO to run against the democrats!! I really wish Carson would defend marriage better, but we know he is conservative and tat is what counts.. Personally, I would vote for Cruz… Traditional marriage for the win!!…

I was 100% behind Cruz because he fought so hard to “repeal” Obama’s HCB. Then he turns right around and suys Obamacare. It also bothers me that his wife works for Goldman Sax.

The was against Amnesty until he was “for it.:”

According to the original story carried in the conservative National Journal, 2,000 people had signed up for the conference, but the hall looked “half empty”. So assuming that 1000 people showed up and they all cast a ballot, that would mean that Carson got a whopping 250 votes, and Walker got 200 votes. Wow! And these are the kinds of numbers that make or break a campaign, and maybe an election??
