Catholics Jeb Bush, Rick Santorum say Pope should stay out of climate change debate

6_172015_vatican-pope-28201_c0-58-4618-2749_s561x327Pope Francis says climate change must be addressed because of its devastating impact on the poor and sick — but the pontiff is expected to stay far away from President Obama’s environmental agenda amid concerns it will carry financial burdens detrimental to the needy.

In his highly anticipated encyclical on climate change — a draft of which already has surfaced online after some news outlets defied the Vatican’s strict Thursday embargo — Francis will blame climate change on human activity and will call on governments around the globe to address the issue.

The document, which will represent the pope’s most significant foray into the political arena, already is under fire and has crept into the 2016 presidential race. Republican presidential contenders such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, both Catholics, have criticized Francis for wading into climate change and say the pontiff should not try to influence economic or energy policy.

I totally agree. I’m Catholic and I don’t like this pope interfering in something he has no knowledge of. Supposedly, he has a degree in chemistry. So? This does not make him an expert on climate change. Besides, it’s not Global Warming. It’s Global WARNING….!!

  • game50

The Pope is just like Barry….they’re BOTH after OWO (ONE WORLD ORDER).

    • doomsdae

You are so right on! Many Catholics like myself do not care for this pope (whoever he really is) and this pope is attempting to steer the church in the wrong direction, yes a One World Order. He gives me the creeps!

Maybe in what the Pope said, has another meaning

Bad air affects everyone. Why Poor and Sick

    • doomsdae

THEN PEOPLE NEED TO STOP PASSING GAS…..

  • oscar barreda sr

Did the Pope quote the Bible in anyway, shape, or form

  • John Arribas

Instead of talking about climate change he should be telling poor people all over to stop having more poor babies. He should tell them to practice using birth control methods

Why would anyone expect there to be a worldwide uniformity to the “climate?”
This whole subject is really not a logical, human consideration. There is a long history of human actions to provide comfort relative to the causality of local weather. We deal with significant changes in heat, precipitation, air or wind direction and quality on a daily basis. It is irrational to think about how the weather is affecting others or whether there is an interrelationship of weather patterns the effective consequences of which are unjust or detrimental to human beings. Since “He makes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust,” and “God is no respecter of persons,” the idea that weather is linked to a kind of divine system of reward and punishment is not correct.
If it is true that vehicle exhaust is responsible for a negative impact on the air quality, why doesn’t government do something about it? The poor and sick can not be the only symptoms of “climate change” causality. Shouldn’t there be a pervasive effect on all? After all, what are the non-poor and healthy doing differently from the poor and sick that keeps them non-poor and healthy?
Work and quality of life? This does not seem reasonable. Let’s stop all the hype about “climate change.” When God decides to change the universe, there will be nothing that man can do about it anyway. If people are really concerned, pray! The church has long taught and practiced that God hears and answers prayer. The wind, after all, “knows not whence it cometh nor whither it listeth.” Why should man?

The Pope is NO more of a scientist than Al Gore is, or Sharpton is a Minister, or Warren is an INDIAN, or Shillery is Honestor or that Jenner is a woman or that Barack Hussein Obama is a leader…So may be he should stop adding to the LIBERAL BS METER .. it is already FULL…!!

    • doomsdae

He’s been hanging and listening too much to Barak Hussein O. …..

      • The redhawk

He better be VERRRY Careful…. The hardiness POTUS might just call HIM the N WORD should he ever say something like calling Sharpton and Ayers ‘TERRORISTS”

  • John VanderKelen

The Pope is entitled to his opinion but it is only equal to anyone else. The Bible is another matter. God has spoken.

  • KDC

If the govt. would leave the weather alone it might return to normal. They’ve been messing with it for decades. Every day I see Chem trails crossing the sky. Global warming is just an excuse for Agenda 21 and depopulation of the globe. These elitists just want to control everything and the average “Joe” will be their surfs.

  • reagangs

The Pontiff lost the shine long time ago, by siding with ideals not becoming to them, the Nazis, etc. The UNs communist Agenda 21 and its environ-mental whackos have now involved the Pope in their dealings. This is NOT a religious argument. Yes Johnny, the climate is constantly changing and it gets a tab warmer every now and then, as it has been since the beginning of life as we know it, but it always cools back down. History has proven this, time and time, again. This cycle is a natural occurrence of the Earth/Sun system. Global warming (gw) and/or climate change (cc) are the random results of: 1) to a lesser degree (pun intended), the Milankovitch effect, the relative positions of the Earth in its elliptical orbit to the Sun; 2) the Suns massive variation of energy output, solar storms which fluctuate at eleven year and ~200 year cycles. High energy plasma particles hitting the Earth cause atmospheric changes; 3) The Earth’s own molten core (~2,000 *F) that presents itself with massive geothermal zones (Yellowstone NP and others), lava floes (Iceland and others) and many volcanoes world wide, ocean bottom and on land, that emit massive amounts of lava, ash and toxic “green house” gasses (CO, CO2, NO, NO2, SO, SO2, H2S and others). Throwing massive amounts of $$$s at the problem will only bankrupt America and will not improve any of the third worlds countries and will only enrich the liberal, progressive elites (George Soros and his EU minions). Obummer and his minions need to be fought and defeated before the US of A becomes the USSA. We can start the healing in 2016 by defeating the Marxist, socialist and commies at the polls and by shipping the UN and their minions back to the EU or wherever the hell they came from with a one way ticket.

Don’t tell me that Soros has bought the Pope too!

He’s not that far from doing that. You know he’s already had an audience with the Trans gennies and even hugged and kissed them!

    • doomsdae

I’m sure Soros is funding the Vatican. You know, money talks

  • reggie

An open letter to the Pope – stay out of it. It is not your domain, take care of the problems in your domain. If you must get involved, tell the powers that be to stop the chem trails.

    • What are “the problems in your domain”? He considers it his domain to help the needy, who are more affected by rising sea levels, ocean acidification, acid rain, droughts and severe weather than other people. And those people can be in Micronesia, or India, or the Texas Gulf Coast or a trailer park along the Red River.

      • Betty Weaver Woods

ITS called “Weather” and is NOT caused by humans!!

        • Rising sea levels – they are actually documented – are not considered “weather”. “Weather” is a short-term event. A drought lasting several years, or “once-in-a-century” floods or storms that happen every 3 or 4 years, is not considered “weather” but part of a much longer-term trend. Huge dieoffs of shellfish caused by toxins and warm ocean water along the entire West Coast are not caused by “weather”.

And the Pope doesn’t seem to be saying that all these effects are caused by humans. What he seems to be saying is that there are things humans can do to lessen the effects, such as relocating people who live along shorelines and other low-lying areas, building seawalls or reclaiming natural sea barriers, and creating systems for water storage and purification and desalination.

            U=seless
            ‘S=hi…..

          • doomsdae

Wrong. He has stated that Global Warming IS caused by Human Activity..!!

          • The redhawk

and when we had Famine, Ice age, pestilence and wood burning for heat in the “DARK AGES”…. How did we EVER SURVIVE without ASSHOLE ‘GREENIES” to Make Buicks Illegal????
BTW FAUX SCIENTIST GORE claimed that a dozen years ago we’d be without Manhattan ( 25 Ft under water) no Polar Beas, Caribou and the same FAUX SCIENTIFIC BONE HEADS Predicted an ICE AGE IN THE 1970’s…..
So now that REAL scientist disprove the INCOMPETENT greenies we have to hear FALSEHOODS FROM YOU???? GIMME A BREAK…

          • Time will tell. Meanwhile, the sea level continues to rise, as is clearly documented in various locations around the world, including on our east coast. And once-in-a-century flooding and storms seem to be occurring every few years.

You can bring up Gore all you like if it makes you happy. Yes, he shouldn’t be traveling around in a private jet, blah blah blah.

There were SOME scientists, back in the 70s, that were predicting an ice age, based on the fact that increasing smog was blocking sunlight in the northern hemisphere. Still, at that time, there were SIX TIMES as many climate scientists that were predicting a warming trend, rather than a cooling.

97% of scientists agree on climate change. FACT.

        • The redhawk

Just like SEASONAL changes cause Seasonal Weather Patterns…apparently the HEADINASS FAUX scientists haven’t realized this FACT!

    • doomsdae

Most people don’t get it. This pope is far from humble yet, people think he is just because in the past he’s said, “pray for me.” So? So did pope Benedict and JPII. This pope craves & loves attention as you can see because he has to be in the media on a daily basis. This pope is too liberal for me

      • reggie

yup! I’m not catholic, but believe in separation of church and state, regardless of which church.
