Donors ask GOP consulting firm to research independent presidential bid

by SCOTT BLAND  |  published on February 28, 2016

Conservative donors have engaged a major GOP consulting firm in Florida to research the feasibility of mounting a late, independent run for president amid growing fears that Donald Trump could win the Republican nomination.

A memo prepared for the group zeroes in on ballot access as a looming obstacle for any independent candidate, along with actually identifying a viable, widely known contender and coalescing financial support for that person. The two states with the earliest deadlines for independent candidates, Texas and North Carolina, also have some of the highest hurdles for independents to get on the ballot, according to the research.

“All this research has to happen before March 16, when inevitably Trump is the nominee, so that we have a plan in place,” a source familiar with the discussions said. March 16 is the day after the GOP primary in Florida, a winner-take-all contest that Marco Rubio supporters have identified as a must-win to stop Trump’s early momentum.

“It’s critical some serious attention is given to this,” the source said.

The document, stamped “confidential,” was authored by staff at Data Targeting, a Republican firm based in Gainesville, Fla. The memo notes that “it is possible to mount an independent candidacy but [it] will require immediate action on the part of this core of key funding and strategic players.”

The GOPneeds to stay out of We the People’s election. They have lowered themselves to the level of the Democrats . I am so disappointed in the party. No more of the good old boys club. Please remember our basic premise Of the People, By the People ,for the People

They already have a man who polls say can beat Hillary… but they try to buy him out, bully him out and ignore him because like Trump, he is an outsider and not beholden to the money or power in Washington. The RNC has, through inaction and trying to take over the moderate position left by left leaning Democrats, BUILT this nightmare called Trump. If they had secured our borders we would not be talking about this now. No one to blame but themselves.

  • Jan Kolacy

There are 3 gentalmen running..the other 2 are liars a pill popping crook the other a plain liar. No wonder Rubio was laughing at everything he said swinging his arms and talking so loud..we all saw him pop something thing in his mouth…must have taken a few before..

The hit on Trump has already been announced by one RINO.

GOP Establishment’s Rick Wilson: Donor Class Must ‘Put a Bullet in Donald Trump’

    by TONY LEE | 28 Oct 20159,706 |

On Tuesday evening, establishment Republican consultant Rick Wilson said the GOP establishment donor class must find a way to “put a bullet” in GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Wilson conceded that “Trump is still a very powerful force right now” because he appeals to part of the of the conservative base that Wilson said was activated by his “nativist” message. Wilson insisted that the donor class “can’t just sit back on the sidelines and say, ‘oh well, don’t worry, this will all work itself out.’”

“They’re still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump,” Wilson said. “And that’s a fact.”

………..I reported this P0S TWICE to the FBI. Please do the same.

The GOP Donors do not have to “Hire a Firm to Research an Independent Bid.” All they have to do is read the peoples mood in comment sections like this and read the primary election results.

Damned few Americans are going to vote for a e/RINO sycophant for the corporate oligarchy after you back out of your implied pledge to support the GOP front runner, Donald Trump!

    …………………………….F&#K YOU!

You will be better off waiting for Hillary Clinton to be indicted.

Then Jeb! can switch parties and get the Democratic Presidential nomination.

You should be pleased, because Jeb! will not have to change any of his policy positions.

  • Phyllis

The people rejected Romney twice and he can’t beat Hillary but Trump can so I doubt if the Repubs are serious about winning. They keep accusing the People for losing the election to Ob but for many who refused to vote at all it was a case of which false prophet to put your vote on. Moha or Smith,

    • Nancy McManigal- Cass

Honestly Phyllis, I don’t think that bankers and corporations really CARE about who wins….They just don’t want someone they CAN’T control. They would rather have someone like Hillary, who is only out for herself, to become President. Regardless of their affiliation. If TRUMP doesn’t win…we’re ALL screwed!!!

      • Phyllis

I know they don’t care who wins and I am sure some of that big bank/corporation scenario is PAC money and being aimed at taking Trump down.

  • Phannesa

Romney 2012 the loser in an election that should have been WON!! LOSER!!

  • Jon’s On

Why not just give Hilary the white house and save a whole lot of money. These people need to accept who ever the Republican nominee is whether it is Trump, Cruz or Rubio. The republican establishment have proven time and again what a bunch of idiots they are. Conservatives need to take control of the party before these out of touch nit wits ruin it even more.

  • Phannesa

They are just as bad as the bobozo tactical puppets!

  • John Cox

The issue at hand isn’t “losers” or “winners” in the common parlance. The issue is what’s best for America, and it isn’t a crude, immature joker like Donald Trump, or a lying jackass like Clinton. I will vote for any REAL conservative. Trump does not qualify.

    • RightLane1111

Oh you will…you mean the guy that sold his house to his lobbyist for three times the values or he can’t keep his credit card straight..that one. Or how about the self righteous Conservative that told the entire state of Iowa ..1500 precincts or caucuses that Carson was out of the race or TODAY that Trump is affiliated with the KKK. ENOUGH OF THE LIARS.

TRUMP CAN SAVE AMERICA…TEDDY HAS BEEN IN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SINCE 200O…as an attorney and then as director of the Federal Trade Commission and that is probably why we HAVE DEFICITS.

  • jug

The front runner in the GOP race is a liberal democrat, has been his whole life, and would be the best candidate, IF he was running on the right ticket, the democrat one!

But he isnt! He would easily take Hillary down, from her own party, but after conversations with his good friend Bill, they decided that wouldnt be the way for her to lose.

So, he goes “republican”, and becomes the poison pill there!

    Absolutely brilliant!
Now we have two democrats running in two parties, both leading and actually very little difference in their operating perameters! Actually, Trump and obutthole share the same personality disorders, narcissim and egotistic mainacs!

  • Cookie Vranish

That is truly arrogant! I wouldn’t vote for Mitt Romney if they paid me. I was totally turned off by him when he started shooting his mouth off about Trump. Mitt Romney was the loser and a loser in the last election. I voted for him then but that is the last time. I’ll never vote for him again!

  • TAM44

I would not give the GOP the sweat off my nads and have told them over the phone. The RNC is a pathetic bunch to say the least, I call them ROTTEN NASTY COWARDS for how thy are treating the front runner Mr. Trump as these insiders makes me sick to my stomach the way they do. They sure have screwed us the past seven years by letting obama and the democrats run rough shod on us. Even after we voted to give them the house and senate, obama and the democrats still tells the wimps what to do and they bow down to these scum. When Mr. Trump said those in DC made stupid deals he was 100% correct. Trump is his own man and does not bend over and kiss their butt like they kiss obama’s and the democrats butts. I’ll take Mr. Trump and you can have the wimps.

    • Phannesa

    • Phyllis

I didn’t talk to them over the phone but I did send some very pointed emails in response to their requests for money.

    • Randy

      Super ditto.

  • Randy

So the RNC will show the entire U.S. that they will not keep their agreement with Trump, to support the nominee. They will just make matters worse for themselves by outwardly showing America that they cannot be trusted to keep their promises. We all knew that anyway but now it will be publicized. Trump for President!!!

    • Phannesa

Their word is worthless, just like Rubio and the gang of 8.

  • American

Those establishment snakes will do anything to keep Trump from winning. They want to maintain control, and will use every dirty trick they can to do so. Both parties are so disgusting to me. Vote Trump America.

  • JC

sure sounds like desperation on the part of the GOP donors—boy they are squirming like snakes set on fire—-they can’t stand the prospect of them losing power and they will sell —we the people— down the river in order to retain that power—just like they have been doing since we gave them the majority in congress

  • George Dimele

Why do you think Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe are backing Trump instead of Rubio…..they know Rubio wants Amnesty for Millions of illegals and Brewer and Sheriff Joe have been fighting the illegal BATTLE for years for the American People! There is NO WAY in hell this Florida Family is voting for anyone but #TRUMP2016!

  • TeaTephi

All men are depraved sinners…..we kid ourselves if we believe our choices in government have ever been any thing other than the lesser of two evils.

  • carpkiller

The establishment is getting ready to try and shaft Trump.

  • Debbie

Stop now before you get in to far.

  • skHurricane

The American people knows whats going on the political system is so corrupt. If this happens it will be the downfall of the republican party.

    • Phyllis

Maybe the RNC needs to go. To go to this length to try to defeat a man that the voters want shows exactly what they have become. There were numerous parties in the beginning of our country and maybe that is a good thing. Whig anyone?

Trump will be the nominee…any way you slice it!
Time to focus on TRUMP defeating Hillary!
    Trump 2016!!

    • le3845

I’m with you buddy! TRUMP 2016!!!!

      • SABER

Together, real Americans can make this country great again!

  • dennis w

    • Eve White

We are the losers if Trump is nominated. You are one of the losers who will help it happen. Trump is a cheater, liar, arrogant sociopath

      • le3845

Dear Eve. Trump will win no matter what you say. Please keep on screaming.

        • CharlieSeattle

Strokes happen that way too. Look forward to not seeing Eve anymore.

        • Eve White

Not screaming. tRump will not get the nomination.

  • Kim

This is ridiculous that they will do nothing but try to stop him. What they don’t know is trump will still win.

  • ShemSilber

On the one hand, my vote is for Trump as the most sensible of the candidates, the farthest away from the LEFT who are stuck in the mud of WRONG and who think RIGHT is the evil and wrong way to go. As Isaiah 5:3 says, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
On the other hand, my trust is not in any man, but in the Most High, who, per Daniel 9:17, 25, sets up and takes down whom He will over the kingdoms of this age, which is rapidly coming to its close, for there are limits to it, as explained in the Scriptures, and the kingdoms of this world will be removed and replaced with the Kingdom of Yahuwah Almighty and the Messiah Yahushua whom He has appointed (Revelation 11:15).
In the meantime, may our Master Yahushua (Lord Jesus) have mercy on us by giving us leaders who will turn the seemingly unending tide of degeneracy foisted on us by the last few misadministrations, the current being the worst of them.
May the numbers keep on growing who are realizing the need to return to Torah as the Master Yahushua gave it to Moses (1Corinthians 10:4; Hebrews 11:24-26), for such people are the core of the coming Kingdom that will sweep this creation clean of all the evils and bring peace on earth in the Presence of our Master Yahushua, omein.

  • Cookie Vranish

This is being done because dirty tricks are planned for Donald Trump? They must have the RNC in their pockets too.

    • ShemSilber

No doubt that this is the case, for they have put Yahuwah Almighty and His Son our Messiah out of their minds, calling their ideas right, but rendering themselves foolish, as our brother Paul explains in Romans 1.
Nevertheless the final victory is already in the hands of our Messiah Yahushua, and our responsibility is to turn to the Master and ask His help to deal with this present age and deliver us into His everlasting Kingdom, omein.

    • Phannesa

      Down with the tyrants!!

    • Eve White

I hope they are dirtier than Trump. Trump has already done his trick tricking all the dumb Republicians His words. He said Republicians are dumb He can lie to them. So dumb. People’s magazine #Never Trump

      • Cookie Vranish

Oh Eve, lighten up! I’m sure in the end your Hillary will win her prize and never spend a day in prison. That just goes to show that crime and even murder pays. This country is about over and I doubt even my Trump can save it.

        • Eve White

People that just make things up and say UNTRUE nasty things like tRUMP ARE NOT PEOPLE I WANT TO ASSOCIATE WITH

          • Phyllis

I venture to say if you maintain that stance your circle of friends is likely to shrink considerably if not totally.

          • Eve White

I am fine with having a few friends I respect. Very fine with me

          • Phyllis

Eve, I was teasing you a bit, meant to instill a little humor not hurt your feelings or detract from your personal beliefs.

    • Phannesa

      I am thinking that too.
