GOP moves to impeach IRS chief

by PETE KASPEROWICZ  |  published on October 28, 2015

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and 18 other Republicans on the committee introduced a resolution on Tuesday to start impeachment proceedings against IRS Commissioner John Koskinen.

Chaffetz said the impeachment effort is a response to Koskinen’s failure to comply with a subpoena demanding records relating to Lois Lerner’s role in the IRS targeting scandal. Republicans say the IRS erased 422 backup tapes that included thousands of Lerner’s missing emails.

He also said Koskinen offered false testimony to Congress, when he said Lerner’s emails were unrecoverable, and failed to tell Congress that some evidence was missing.

“Commissioner Koskinen violated the public trust,” Chaffetz said. “He failed to comply with a congressionally issued subpoena, documents were destroyed on his watch, and the public was consistently misled.”

    Crook vs Crook

  • No one in the Oblamer administration ever has, or ever will be held accountable for anything…and there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it.

  • a flag waving AMERICAN mike

KDC. The Immigration act. I think it is for working in the USA. But to be President you have to be a natural born citizen and the fact he is not a natural born citizen this was taken from the Constitution of the USA.

The republicans knew what Lynch was, and approved her anyway. They knew the Fascist Lynch, would never prosicute anyone in the Obola administration.

  • gavinwca

Next impeach the Justice Department lawyers that refuse to take the Fascist IRS employees that did this to the grand jury.

Don: I’m sure you have plenty of respect for Liberals who are committing crimes and trying to cover them up by deleting the evidence. Birds of a feather?

    • don

i have –read my lips no respect for none of them their all leaning left–our own republicans

  • If true Justice was actually a part of this corrupt DOJ, headed by another Obama lapdog, Loretta Lynch, then Koskinen and Lerner would be going to prison for their criminal activity, but don’t expect that to happen under this Un-American 3rd World led Criminal Administration! The entire Administration should be led out on to the Front Lawn and Executed in front of National TV cameras as a warning to all other Tyrants what will happen to them if they mess with We, the People!

    • don

by setting on our asses you can not expect them to fix themselfs—power an money corupts them every time– we must watch them 24/7–WE DON>T

  • don

every thing this congress does is a joke–smoke an mirrows—lies an more lies–i refuse to believe anything they say or do–i have no respect for any of them

    • figmo

I suppose you have “respect” for both lying, perjuring, evidence destroying, civil rights violating IRS commissioners?

      • Sounds like your an Obama buttboy!

        • figmo

Boy have you got it bass ackwards! Time to pull your head out and get some fresh air. You can’t afford to lose any more brain cells. I have been anti Obama for both of his terms in the White House. Trump is the only hope we have.Even my second choice, Carson will not be able to bring change to the go along to get along BS that our ineffective RINOS seem to live by.

          • Figmo, I truly apologize from the bottom of my heart! I took your comment wrong to the other guy who said Congress was a joke! Please forgive me for that snide remark and I will delete it. I am also 1000% behind Donald Trump and he is what our nation needs! I would love to see a Trump/Cruz or Trump/Carson ticket in 2016, those are the only three worth looking at. The GOP is filled with RINO leeches that need to be kicked out. Only a handful of true Conservatives exist in the GOP today and they are the younger generation, not the ones who have been sucking off the taxpayer for decades, like Graham. Once again, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for misunderstanding your comment. God Bless you and your family abundantly! TRUMP 2016!

I like Ted Cruz but he is not the constitution loving person he tries to portray. If he was he would admit that he does not meet the qualifications to run for president. He was born in Canada and his father was not a US citizen. Read the law of nations book one, where it defines a natural born citizen. It is not what the politicians of either party are claiming.

          • KDC

Currently, citizenship in the U.S. is governed by the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. The most recent changes to statutory law was done by Congress in 2001.

          • I still think he is the most Moral, he and Carson. But I love Trump and whoever is his running mate will be fine with me. If Hussein, the Kenyan Queen, can be President, then I will also back Cruz if he gets the nomination, but I doubt very seriously if he will.

KDC The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 does not alter the Constitution which does not require an individual to be a citizen to serve as president but requires them to be a “natural born citizen” to be president. Natural born citizen and citizen are two distinct types of citizens. You can be a naturalized citizen, a citizen by birth, or a natural born citizen. I will not go into the naturalized citizen because I assume you know what that is. A citizen by birth can be any of several types. An individual born of at least one citizen parent either in the US or overseas, or an individual born in the US of parents who are not citizens. A natural born citizen is an individual born in the US of parents who are BOTH citizens of the US at the time of birth. The intent of words in legal documents are based upon the meaning of the word as the drafters of the document understood them at the time the document was drafted. Our founding fathers knew exactly what the definition of natural born citizen was. If there was no difference in types of citizenship the founding fathers would not have used all three terms in the Constitution.

billwhit1357 that is the problem I have with the republicans. All these so called lawyers of which Ted is one should never have confirmed the election results. Obama should not have been allowed to sit one day in the oval office. I guess none of them had the balls to challenge him because they would be called racists. Just because Obama got away with it doesn’t mean we should do it too. If the republicans are serious about Obamacare and all the executive orders, the first thing that they should do if a republican president gets in is void everything that Obama signed as being invalid. The only ones who might even consider this are Trump and Carson. By the way, Rubio does not qualify either. Both his parents were Cuban citizens at time of birth. They were naturalized I believe in 2005.
