Immigration: 445,000 awaiting a court date, which might not come for 4 years

by MOLLY HENNESSY-FISKE | The Los Angeles Times  |  published on May 17, 2015

Driven by last summer’s surge of illegal immigration from Central America, the already large backlog in federal immigration courts has reached an all-time high, with more than 445,000 pending cases, according to a new report.

As of April, the backlog hit 445,706 cases, a nearly 30% increase since Oct. 1, 2013, the start of the last fiscal year, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University.

Immigration courts have been overwhelmed since the influx last fiscal year of more than 68,500 unaccompanied children and about as many family units crossing the southern border, most from Central America.

Give me a desk I’ll handle it in a month, and save Billions in attorney fees.

Somethings exspecially something that effect’s the entire country should be voted on state by state , This is where we loose freedom from terranny an the powers that be are causing more anarchy in our streets or is this the plan of the muslim in the Whitehouse.

If we had a law that would let them be sent straight back it could be done but the ingratiation law says they must have a hearing, It’s the law passed under G. W. Bush. Last year the President ask for money for more judges and to change the law but the Republicans went home without passing it. If we passed an immigration bill we could fix this problem.

bob, America has an immigration law, it is not being followed.
Name one other country the world expects to open their borders like they do America…. There are none, even Mexico.
Does anyone understand what will happen to a person entering Mexico like they are America?

      • bobnstuff

The reason for the court back log is that the law is being followed. The present law is not working and hasn’t for a number of years. When the law was pasted there were
problems that need fixed and never were. The ICS is under staffed. There are only 400 offices and only between 15,000 and 20,000 total employees to deal with 11,000,000 people. The law doesn’t hold the people giving the illegals job to the standards they should. The law is a joke and if you read it you would understand why it needs fixed.

You seem to think that there is some big door on the border that you can just close. It’s not that easy. Obama has slowed the number coming in but no one has ever been able to stop the flow completely. We have doubled the number of border agents which has helped some. We have about half the illegals in the country now that we did under G.W. If you think this is just an American problem you haven’t been watching the news. Europe is having a worse problem right now and since their people are coming in by the boat loads and the boats are sinking.

        • David in MA

Bob, the immigration law is NOT being followed and it all started with slick willie Clinton ordering immigration to not enforce it. Then when they tried to enforce it there became a back log which has escalated due to more illegals coming across the border, many who are muslim terrorists, thanks to the current POS in the WH…
Simply put: It is a set~up for the democratic socialists to coup America. Now, go take your med’s, and go to your room!

Stop drinking the kool-aid. Educate yourself about what really has happened over the years instead of
            spouting the party line.

We have never enforced the immigration laws, not republican, not democrat, never. With the present number of enforcement officers it can’t be done. Do the math. 9 offices per state with 40 people per office to deal with 11 million people. It’s a joke. The fines for employing them is small enough that it’s
cheaper to pay the fine if you get caught then pay the over the counter cost of American workers. It’s set up to keep costs down in our food industry.

This is just a few things to read, there are tons of facts out there once you get started. The system is
set up in a way that no one really understands the laws involved. It makes the tax code look simple.

Your a funny guy, bob, but not real funny.

          • bobnstuff

Your right it’s not funny, it’s how our government runs. The Idea of 11 million people in the shadows is not funny. The idea that you can close a border that’s over 2000 miles long isn’t funny. The lie that some how the president that has sent more people packing back home is softer on immigration the then presidents before him is not funny. I guess you still haven’t tried
to read the law, I have and it’s a mess. Go educate yourself. Until we start throwing employers that hire illegals in to jail we will never fix the problem. The president didn’t create the problem, it’s the law and the business that hire the illegals that created the problem.

Boy, it’s a cinch that you don’t live in California, my friend.

This is all well and good if the border patrol had not been told to stand down when they see an illegal crossing the border. Obama is putting on an almost believable dog and pony show, all the while bolstering his voter base by allowing illegals to take up residence here with the certain knowledge that they will be issued a green card or allowed permanent residence. They already are issued state drivers’ licenses, making them eligible to create domestic checking accounts. Now they parade the streets demanding a $15.00 minimum wage. Their mantra goes as follows:

We would be oh so grateful if you’d allow us residence.

We would even vote for your third term as president!

          • bobnstuff

Your facts are a little bit off. I just looked out my window and it’s raining so there for the great flood
must be coming. Give me some proof that the president told anyone to stand down. A link would be nice. What president have given amnesty
to illegals in the past and show me any amnesty that is now being given by the White House. You might want to look up the word before answering .Why is it that if St. Ronny does something it’s was OK but don’t let President Obama even think about it. What California does about drives licensees is the states business. I don’t like unregulated drivers on the road and making them pass a drivers test my help keep the roads safer. I also believe running money through
the banking system is also a good thing for the country. It’s also interesting that there are no news reports of any marches of illegals asking for a rise in minimum wage in California on the net. Give me a
link to that one also. If you can’t prove it’s real with facts I will have to believe you have been watching Fox.

I don’t like illegal immigration. We need the law fixed so that the people giving these people jobs go to jail. No jobs and they will stay at home. Right now the level of crime being here illegally is the same as a speeding ticket. The republicans need to pass a new law that can be enforced .We throw people into jail for smoking a joint but not for hiring an illegal worker.

          • bobnstuff

I just did some research and found some
interesting facts. LA is 10% illegals of which over half have been there 10 years or more, proving it’s not a new problem. 17% of the illegals own homes, I guess that means they aren’t planning to go home soon. We have half as many illegals as we did 10 years ago and that Obama is the leader in sending them back home. One border guard said in 2013 that there was a stand down order and there has been no proof of the truth of that statement. The number of people waiting for hearings would lead one to believe that enforcement is still going on. My question is why is illegal immigration a big problem now when ten years ago we had twice as many illegals and if wasn’t a big problem with the republicans then. If it’s so big a problem why
hasn’t the new congress passed any new laws to deal with it. You don’t think that the republican don’t want use to think about how our roads are falling apart and our Vet’s can’t get medical care. Fill
the votes with red herrings and keep them quiet.

  • Mike J. Hrivnak

Absolutely send them home to wait for a court date

    • Dan S.

And hope the court date never comes up for them, or the papers get lost in the mail between here and wherever they go back to.

  • Hotnike

They are illegal so that have no rights to a court hearing. Since we seem to know where they are, just send them back NOW!!!!

  • KDC

Solution…ship them all out. We have enough degenerates to keep the courts in motion. That’s the game, right?

    • raffaelecafagna

Solution : Illegals get the hell out of my Land.

      • Sam W

OFF my soil. You are invaders and should be shot as such…..

  • David in MA

Easy solution here: Have the illegals fill out an appeal application and then throw their arses back over the border with the instruction to not come back until their appeal is to be heard or they lose their appeal and ALL possibility of immigration.

    • DEW

Round up all these damn muslims right along with them and send ’em back from where ever they came. They don’t want to acclimatized to the American way of life…they just want all they cream & honey of our land while following and trying to spread their ridiculous religion in favor of Christianity !!!
