Kasich: GOP establishment should “consolidate my way”

John Kasich said Sunday after his fifth-place finish in South Carolina that establishment Republicans looking to coalesce behind a single anti-Trump candidate should look to him, not Marco Rubio.

“People want to consolidate, they ought to consolidate my way,” he said on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” noting that he’s on the rise in national polling “out of nowhere” and that he fares best against Democrat Hillary Clinton in head-to-head general election matchups.

Asked by moderator John Dickerson whether his continued presence in the race is keeping the anti-Trump factions of the GOP from effectively uniting behind someone like Rubio, Kasich pointed out that he finished ahead of Rubio in New Hampshire and said he’s looking ahead to Super Tuesday for some victories that will help propel him further.

“I finished second in New Hampshire, he finished fifth,” he said of Rubio. “I didn’t play in South Carolina and we’re going to go on March 1 to a number of states where we think we’re gonna do well. So it’s a matter of continuing on.” (States he referenced include Vermont, Massachusetts and Virginia, with Midwestern states like Illinois and Michigan further down the calendar.)

The Ohio governor also noted that since fellow governor Jeb Bush’s exit from the race Saturday night, he’s received political and fundraising support from some of Bush’s supporters.

  • Sammi De La Cruz

Ted Cruz know he is not a Natural Born Citizen as his Parents were naturalize citizens of Canada at his birth. Shortly before or after Cruz said he was running for President that article vanished. Yes I could remember it wrong and they might have become citizens after his birth but that makes no difference as you need both parents to be citizens at your birth so there is no duel loyalty as you have seen when a President has a loyalty to his Father country like we see with Obama. The fact that Cruz know this and lies about it shows he like Obama will do what ever it takes to get what he wants. So what else is he lying about? Is he lying about stopping the illegal invasion, is lying about fixing our government in any way or is he going to keep Obama’s agenda going. Yes he did a lot of good things as a Senator but was that for show or will he really be that way as President. What we need is someone who always tells the truth and as you know it is impossible for polictians to tell the truth.

Rubio is no JFK. Just a shorter version of Obama

Rubio had all the S.C. rinos got bat for Marco. The janitor who didn’t support Rubio voted for Trump. All that support and still lost. Imagine that !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ted Cruz is the most capable leader for president this nation may ever see or have another chance to vote for.

Our nation needs a forceful, experienced, common-sense Conservative right now, & that is Trump. I would prefer Kasich over Rubio or Bush though, but not over Carson or Cruz. Rubio is still pro-Amnesty, pro Citizenship for ILLEGALS.

No more of the same old garbage. Kasich, you can go home too.
