Liberals Panicking Over Trump’s Possible Education Secretary Pick!

Over the past week, liberals have been freaking out over the different members announced for President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. From Steve Bannnon to General Michael Flynn, the left has been in panic mode over what they consider inappropriate picks for the White House.

Well, one man whose name has just been floated as a possible pick for Department of Education is none other than Larry Arnn, president of the conservative Hillsdale College.

Hillsdale College, as most of you know, accepts no federal money, and therefore is the antithesis to everything liberals believe, so Arnn’s potential role in the Trump administration will likely drive the left mad.

“Names fly around at light speed. Mine is one of the minor names. This is not the first time this has happened to me,” Arnn wrote in an email to Hillsdale’s campus newspaper on Thursday.

“Some people of influence would like for me to do it,” Arnn said of filling the education secretary post, noting that he has not formally been asked by the president-elect’s team if he is interested in the Cabinet-level position. “If those people decide to ask me, then I will make a decision. I will make no decision that I think would harm the college or result in my permanent separation from it.”

    With what we have seen with this election coming out of our colleges and Public Schools we better do something and fast. They have been duped and brought up to believe in nothing but one way of thinking and only one way of acting. They are not loving this country, they don’t know it’s history, they don’t know the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights, they have not a clue what Communism and Socialism REALLY IS and they know nothing about the wars fought and the lives lost to save the world from Hitler etc.

    Changes are needed. Having someone who runs a college which doesn’t receive federal money might be a good idea. Over the years higher education has become more expensive. We need someone that can reform our bloated education system.

    The school systems are the biggest problem we have with our younger generations! Clean out all the well placed socialist teachers, do away with the common core BS and get our country back on track and a lot of it starting at HOME! People, please start taking more interest in your kids and know what’s going on in lives and in school! I know it can be tough, but both of my parents worked but they made sure that they spent time with us and THANK GOD we didn’t have cell phones and video games!!

      We still teach History in our schools. If anything it’s better then before because students are encouraged to think about what it means. I have been dealing with Common Core for a while and it is different then the way I was taught but once I understood what it was doing it made sense. I still have problems with the math, not because there is anything wrong with it but because I learned it in a totally different way.

        Common core has changed the history in the books that our children are reading. Fox news interviewed students on the Princeton University campus and they thought Abraham Lincoln and George Bush was 2 of our founding fathers. This is pathetic. I’m just glad that wasn’t my kid because I would have been totally embarrassed. Parents need to take the time and read the junk the kids are bringing home.

          Sorry but the books have nothing to do with Common Core. The state board of education pick the books. They probably got the Texas books. They talked about slavery like it was just a job. I know it wouldn’t be my kids because I took a interest in their education. It’s easy to blame the schools but I bet these kids parents couldn’t tell you who the founding fathers were. People here don’t trust the government but if they have to actually do anything then they complain that the government isn’t doing enough. The schools can only do so much and if parents don’t do their job in raising their children you can’t blame the schools. Also those kids didn’t have common core if they are in college, at most they would have had three years of it and most people learn about the founding fathers by ninth grade. Once again Fox News misinforms you.

            My husband and I are both retired school teachers from Texas, and yes the history part of our educational system has changed unfortunately. When I was growing up our history was about the Constitution, world wars, founding of the United States, presidents, civil war and slavery, capitals, important dates, and Christianity because that is what this county was founded on. Try finding all these things in the school books today. It no longer exists because liberals would love to change our history and brainwash our children in believing it. It’s a tragedy.

            The constitution was never part of the history class, it was part of civics. If you we taught that our country was founded on Christianity you were lie to since half the founders were not even Christians. If you want to know who decides what is in your history books don’t look to Washington, they have no control. Look to Texas since they are the ones that decides what are in the books. I’m surprised you don’t know this being from Texas and all.

            I understand the history of today because I read my grandchildren’s book and help them with homework, so I’m very familiar with what is printed in the textbooks. I can’t believe you would say that the Constitution is not a part of history; possibly the most important part of historyin this country. Civics class is one of the three required classes listed as our history required classes for high school graduation in the state of Texas.

            When I was in school Government was a class unto itself. One year you had world history, the next year of US history and the next year of Government. The fact of the constitution was taught in history, they spent a whole day or so on it. In civics or government we spent weeks on the constitution, We also learned how the government worked and the power of the different branches. We also looked at our state government.

            My grandson is in sixth grade and has a fair understand of history. It’s taught different but the facts haven’t changed. They don’t push the names a dates as much as in my day but it’s more the what and why things happened. It might just be because of my love of history but my grandson really love it. He knows more about WW II then I did till college. It seems to be more of an exploring of history then just learning facts.

            Education is going through another revolution and the change isn’t easy for some people. It’s not the first time it’s happened. Every few years new ideas on teaching come along. Some work and some get left by the wayside. It will be another ten years before we really see if Common Core really works.

            The founding fathers were Christians with the exception of a few and they went along with the majority. Read the Declaration of Independence. It states that the founding fathers depended on the Almighty God. Our money has In God WE Trust, our pledge, one nation under God, and the list goes on and on. Read some of our OLD history books and the original transcripts from the founders of our great country. Your eyes will be opened, I assure you.

            Exceptions like Jefferson, Franklin and Washington. In God we Trust was put on or money in the 1957. You might note that Jesus isn’t mentioned in the constitution. The first amendment deals with freedom of religion so I guess they must have believe it was important. One nation under God was added in 1954. I have read a lot of the writings of our founding fathers as well as much history of the early country. Have you? I majored in college in English and minored in History.     Interesting choice to head a department. He has not experience with the agency and hold a non mainstream view on the roll of government in education. This is a man who runs a very small college. Is this the best choice we have? Our country is lagging behind the rest of the world in education and Trump says he wants to make America great again. Is this how we make it great? If Trump wants the federal government out of the education business, fine just close the department and stop sending any money to the states for education. Of course that means each state will have their own standards and the poorer states will fall behind. After all why should the country care if the people of state like West Virginia get the same level of education as Connecticut. Why standardize education across our country? With different standards the rich states can move ahead and their students can get into the better schools. Get rid of the department of education. Just so you know our founding fathers believed in universal free education for all.

      Yes, and we did pretty well without a Department of Education for the first two hundred years of our existence. We don’t need the federal government dictating to us which food must be consumed for school lunches or which courses must be taken to satisfy federal government curriculums. And we certainly don’t need the federal government dictating to us which bathroom transgenders are entitled to use. Common sense and biology will inform that decision. And tell your Mr. Obama any other decision in that regard is non-negotiable. Period.

        You are a little clueless about how the department of education works. When the federal government gives money out the feel that they should oversee how it’s spent. Schools are not made to take that money but if they choose to then it has to be spent the way it is meant to be. The federal government has pretty much left the states run their schools.

        This is what the job of the Department of Education, their statement not mine. You might notice that their role is to promote and support.

If I go to hire someone and they have a high school diploma I shouldn’t need to ask what school its from and know what that school believe you needed to earn one. It should be the same for someone from Texas as it is for someone from New York. Universal standards just like in a weights and measures.

            I have hired thousands of people over the years. I have owned four companies and held just about every management title there is. I raised my children to do their best and care about those around them. They were raised as Christians and taught to follow Christ’s teaching knowing that it’s by God’s grace that they have been giving their gifts and that they need to use them to give glory to God. No one should have to go it alone and by helping others they show their love of God. Isn’t that what following Christ means. Life is not a game with winners and losers. There is no playing field. There is only one team, Gods people. At the end there is only how well did we serve out God, nothing else matters.

            Just for the record when hiring people you want someone with knowledge and the skills to use them. As a rule egos only get in the way and cause problems.

          When the Dept of Education was created its role was to take the tax dollars from the States, supplement it with Fed dollars and then dole back out. The purpose being that the poorer states would be supplemented. However, the richest counties in the country also received the Fed dollars and as usual it was just used as a big stick to bring everybody in line to what the elitist snobs thought best for the whole country. Most states will choose the curriculum/books ordered by either Texas or California since they are less expensive due to volume discounts. I don’t have children in school so all I know is what I read and it is very disturbing. Seems to be more indoctrination the. Education. Teachers getting curriculum approved where basically the whole goal of the class is that all white people are racist and are a product of white privilege. It saddens me when kids don’t know about the founding of our country and the founding fathers. What is the US History class replaced with? How white people colonized the world and stole everything? Something has got to give. We are doing a great disservice to the current and future generations of this country. After all, those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it. Just my 2 cents.

            I am raising a grandson and I’m the one to oversee his homework. I see what he is being taught. It’s being taught in a different way then I learn it but he is not just learning facts but how to look at those facts. The idea is to teach them to think. I may come to this from a little bit of a different view having been an education major in college. I have also spent time talking with my children about Common Core and they do know about it. My oldest is a college professor, my number two has been a teacher of both history and social studies and now work for Teach For America. Her husband has a Masters in Education from CMU and has worked in both public and charter schools. I was educated on what Common Core is by them and I trust their views over that of Fox News. If the Fed is forcing Common Core on states why are there five that aren’t using it?

            No, private schools can take care of themselves. And individual states along with local school boards and their individual PTAs can best decide how to fund their public schools. Our country was built around the idea of limited government, individual freedom, free market economy, independence, self-reliance and love of family. Nowhere in the Constitution does it mention anything about Federal nannies being responsible for taking care of people. And parents are responsible for the education of their children. Shocking, isn’t it?

            So are you saying that the government shouldn’t promote the general welfare? What do you know about your school board. Can you name even one member, most people can’t. How many educators do you think are members of your local board? In most cases it’s the Superintendent that runs the district. The role of the federal government in local schools isn’t all that big. The USDA is the agency that oversees the school lunch program not the department of education. Only about 10% of the funds for local schools come from the federal government. The schools are run depending on the state by either the local board or as in the case of Texas it run by the state.

      I agree! Carter added that new federal department to help grow the government. George W. Bush did the same thing with Homeland Security. Those functions could have been performed by an existing agency without creating a whole new cabinet level bureaucracy.
