Obama taunts GOP in touting lower unemployment rate

by Dave Boyer  |  published on February 6, 2016

President Obama said Friday the unemployment rate dropping below 5 percent is proof that his economic recovery is working, and blasted Republican presidential candidates for “running down the economy.”

“We should be proud of the progress we’ve made,” Mr. Obama said during an appearance in the White House press room.

He chastised Republican presidential candidates for ignoring good economic news.

“The United States of America right now has the strongest, most durable economy in the world,” Mr. Obama said. “I know that’s still inconvenient for Republican stump speeches as their doom and despair tour plays in New Hampshire. I guess you cannot please everybody.”

The president even trumpeted the fact that gasoline prices are down, just a day after he announced his plan to charge a new fee on oil that could raise the price of gas by 25 cents per gallon.

You have proved your 1st class loser !!!!

  • Danny S.

It is fair to you that 1% pay 60% and the next 10 % pay over 20 %. . Do you wonder why the 1% take there money and business (jobs) out of the USA. Unfortunately the 1% happen to disagree and are not socialist fans. The 1% do more for America then pay our bills . They hire people and build buildings, buy machines, lots of trucks etc.
I also think that if you don’t contribute or pay federal taxes you shouldn’t be able to vote. Because if your not a contributor you will vote for the politician who gives you free stuff.
Remember everyone pays 10% of gross everyone shares the tax burden.Businesses pay 16% of gross.
You should be a fan of this since history shows big business lobbists and attorneys who write advantage tax laws for them that reduce their tax burdens

  • Danny S.

Then grow up and stand up and support your country SON! You seem to support terrorists more then the people trying to protect your Marxist butt. Where do you work Good will?

  • KATIE

The established unemployment rate today is 23%…true data. Obuma is just lying as usual. Looking for that monster legacy……..

  • I Seigel

    For sure I’m retarded.

But you didn’t answer any of my questions. Who’s doing the hiring and why? Simple questions, why not an answer? (HINT: The answer can’t fit on a bumper sticker.)

If you can’t answer that, then maybe you should look in the mirror to see the real moron.

Obama is driving the policy bringing illegals into the U.S.. He’s the one that instituted Presidential decrees and his administration are the one’s misdirecting and assigning boarder patrol personnel and other law enforcement to other none critical areas or tying their hands with red tape. This isn’t complicated and you are well aware of what’s going on. Personally I don’t expect either party to do much about the illegal immigration problem. It brings future potential votes to the democrats and drives wages down which helps big business which helps donations to both parties. Sadly the politicians really don’t care about anything but votes and money which gives them power over the general public.

      • I Seigel

Your whole argument revolves around the idea that Obama has something to gain by letting in all these illegals. And you assume that the gain is that all these illegals will vote democratic. Have you noticed that Republican legislatures almost everywhere are making it harder for regular citizens to vote? What makes you think that illegals are going to turn out in droves and vote for Democratic candidates? There’s a huge gap in your logic here. There’s also the question of why Republicans aren’t doing more to attract LEGAL immigrant-citizens to their party. If you haven’t noticed, whites will be in a minority in the not-too-distant future, and that is a trend that didn’t start with Obama and won’t end next January, no matter who gets elected.

As to businesses getting laborers who will work for lower wages: you say that that helps businesses donate to both parties. I still have to ask – the Chamber of Commerce, which lobbies for a lot of these big businesses, overwhelmingly endorses Republican candidates. In another post, I listed something like 14 out of 17 endorsements they publicized on their website as being Republicans. I really don’t think these big businesses contribute equally to both parties. And yes, I agree with you that illegals drive down wages. THAT’S WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT UNIONS!!!

        • Dave N.

          Sorry for the late reply!
Yes, most of those who become citizens will vote democratic, that’s a fact and well documented.
Asking people for proper I.D. that matches their voting register is hardly making it difficult to vote, I’ve heard all the arguments and none of them add up. You have to have some manor of I.D. to open a bank account, cash a check, drive a car, get government assistants, buy alcohol, etc., that argument just doesn’t work.
Republicans are trying to attract legal immigrant’s to the conservative side of the equation, but the Democrat freebee promise is hard to overcome. Socialism is really appealing until they figure out it doesn’t work, eventually the system runs out of other peoples money.
The donations by large businesses and corporations who are benefitting from lower or stagnant wages is well documented just the same as Wall Street support for both parties. Your argument isn’t valid and you know it. The corruption in campaign finance on both sides is atrocious. Both sides talk about how careful and honest they are, which is nothing but a line of BS. They all play the same games just to a slightly different variation in each area.
I have work under the following Unions, Carpenter’s Local 180 Vallejo, CA, Metal Trades Council MINSY, CA, Brotherhood of Carpenter’s and Joiner’s 1149, Planners and Estimators MINSY, CA and several others. I can tell you that Unions have a place in history and serve a purpose to this day, that being said they can easily be as corrupt as either of the two parties (Democrat & Republican) or the government which is starkly obvious with it’s current level of corruption. I left the unions when I went into engineering and management many years ago and only had to deal with their representatives defending some really poorly performing people a few times. Most quit or straitened up before the union got involved because they knew they screwed up. Some decided to engage the Union when it was time to be terminated for cause, by then its usually too late. Others used the Unions as a shield at every turn in an effort to try and beat the system, some people worked so hard at not working it was really amazing. In the end they usually got what they worked for, unemployment. But I would say most were really smart good people doing their best and making a living.

  • CharlieSeattle

The Governments faulty methodology used to calculate the US unemployment rate will reveal itself soon when the number goes negative.

  • ken51136

IT”S Obama at his Best. Always the other guy’s Fault. NEVER His even though he is IN CHARGE with his Phone and Executive Orders.

  • Marc Goldstone

Obama is excellent at one thing… that is twisting actual data to suit his narrative. Eventually his house of cards will collapse and then even the Democrats will be calling for him to twist at the end of a rope.

    • I Seigel

Obama doesn’t control the data coming out of the Labor Dept. FOX, however, DOES control the news coming out of its organizations, and they’ll twist or ignore facts to suit themselves and their sponsors and donors.

      • Danny S.

Your blind and stupid . Most politicians seem to tell half truths or won’t respond to incriminating questions. Obama knows you fools would follow the sheep off the cliff.WHEN Obama sold his health care bill he said you could keep your doctor and insurance. Premiums would go down. We all now know that This was a outright lie by you scumbags. They gambled that the truth would never come out. Thank you Gruber!! This is why all this climate change BULL and any other piece of legislation you libs push can’t pass on the truth. SO JUNIOR KEEP ON PUSHING THE LIES .By the way are you getting a government check each month. You know other people’s money!! Difference between you and me is I can think on my own. I sure don’t need the government to wipe my b__t .

    • ken51136

Obama and Hillary are two PEAS from the same Pod.

  • peeweetanner@yahoo.com

OBAMA HAS LIED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AS LONG AS HE HAS BEEN PRESIDENT AND THE LEADERSHIP IN CONGRESS BELIEVES HIS BULLSHIT

  • Todd Alfonsi

It goes to show you that OBAMA IS A BIG FAT LIE’R just like the rest of them. We all know they use a # derived from how many apply for un employment, not how many applied and ran out without getting a job, which is a true indicater of the true unemployed. I t also doesnt show that almost all the jobs are going to ILLEGAL MEXICANS THAT HE HIMSELF FLYS, OR BUSSES IN TO DO SO, leaving Americans jobless homeless and shoved into FEMA camps against their will.He is more concerned with the welfare of Illegals than Americans, and he will go to hell along with his evil islamic devils that he is also flooding the country with.

    • I Seigel

If Obama is flying in or busing in illegal Mexicans HIMSELF, then who’s hiring them? Who’s fault is that Americans aren’t working?

      • Todd Alfonsi

Florida,Texas,California,Arizona,NewMexico, even Michigan. What, you been living under a rock for the past 8 years, or are you a blind sheep?go to info wars. Com before its to late for you and your loved ones.

        • I Seigel

Your answer makes absolutely NO SENSE. I’m “living under a rock”? A “blind sheep”? HUH??

What do you mean that Florida, Texas, California, Arizona etc are hiring these illegals? Really? These illegals are now working for the states? They were hired by the states, almost all of which you list have REPUBLICAN governors and legislatures?? Who’s the blind one here?

If what you REALLY meant was that the illegals are working for businesses in those states, I ask again: Who’s hiring them? And why? Private businesses? Big corporations? Before it’s too late for you and your loved ones, you really need to think about your answers and information sources, and then give a reasoned answer to these questions, not just a knee-jerk Trumpism.

And how is it that illegals being hired BY these states or IN these states mean that Obama is at fault?

  • TAM44

These criminals in DC will do and say anything to try and make this lying treasonous illegal sissified muslim BOY barack hussein obama look good. Only fools believe anything that comes out of this liars mouth. When it comes to lying obama and killery clinton are almost dead even as far as power goes, killery may have the upper hand, I think obama is scared to death of her.

    • DWB

I agree with you and this P.O.S. should be charged with treason. Bath house barry was been put in place to destroy America and should be gone by now.

  • Unicorn71

The problem with the unemployment rate rate that gets all the attention is that it is easily compromised by other factors and does not take into account the quality of the jobs gained or lost. I understand the FED is looking into a better metric in this vein. Obama pays only attention to metrics that make him look good. He should be looking at average family income which has declined under his watch. As well as the proliferation of food assistance that has reached at astronomical levels since he has been in office.

    • ken51136

Obama claims he wants to raise everyone’s income; so he imports cheap labor and exports nothing but our gas.

  • carpkiller

The rate is 30% or a little higher.

    • supergun

Should be a lot more people with jobs.

  • Mike Zimmerman

Or could it be that republicans just can’t handle the truth that unemployment is dropping despite their best efforts to keep it up?? Hmmm. Inquiring minds want to know.

    • Unicorn71

Really stupid diatribe expected from a far leftist. GOP interest is not only in low unemployment but low underemployment and higher family incomes.

      • I Seigel

Well, I think that’s what Democrats want, too. What makes you think otherwise? What do you think Sanders and Clinton have been talking about?

And who’s doing the offshoring and tax inversions and hiring and firing?

        • Unicorn71

What Clinton and especially Sanders are proposing are continuation of government dependence and promise of more for the lifestyles of those that are lacking in personal incentive to build their own future. How is increasing taxes and regulations is going to bring any positive effect that would stop offshoring and inversions, is beyond me. So now you are trying to tell us that the Republican Party is the source of all the woes in this country. What a crock! While both parties may have the same goals for us citizens, the clear difference is whether one achieves the goals by one’s self reliance (GOP) or government reliance (Democrats). I can easily see who you are dependent on!

          • I Seigel

So what about the 94 million people? Self-reliance isn’t working out for them too well, is it? And they’re not all getting government handouts.

One thing that increasing taxes would do is put Social Security on a secure footing for the rest of the century. And all they would have to do is remove the cap on salaries, so that they tax people earning more than $125,000 a year. What harm is there in that?

And regulations to strengthen the banking and financial sector would go a long way to preventing recessions and other bubbles.

And getting rid of unlimited money in politics would go a long way to returning our politics to the people, rather than to the rich corporations and donors.

          • Danny S.

Sir you have no idea what freedom is . Government should be seen but not heard. Every time we turn around a new regulation or tax is in acted that not only controls us but takes a part of my labor and time to fund. EXCESS taxes are and assault on personel freedom.
I bought a male English bull dog the county license fee was 120 dollars per year if I didn’t neuter the dog. Neutered 20 dollars.
Government should have no say with what I do with my private property.

          • I Seigel

So I assume you’re not a big fan of the Patriot Act?

          • Danny S.

Read my answer above your question. Sorry

          • Danny S.

Your right I’m not. ANOTHER CASE OF GOVERNMENT OVERREACH. What started out as a tool to find terrorists and protect Americans morfed into a way to spy on American in ways that the act was never meant to do. The government has ran with the program and we now have the NSA which has no constitutional limitations.

    • Luke

They say the unemployment rate is 4.9% with 94,000,000 out of the work force, you do the math..
This liar in the W.H. is the worst and sorriest president ever elected…

      • Mike Zimmerman

The president doesn’t do the labor report. The dept of labor does that. People do retire. I know that’s a deep concept for some to contemplate. Let’s look at what the president inherited from George w. Bush. An economy and stock market in free fall. His actions halted and reversed that. The stock market under Obama has reached it’s highest levels ever. Tens of millions of more people have health care that didn’t before he took office. Gas prices are at the lowest level they’ve been in decades. For example. Oklahoma city, OK it’s at $1.139. When’s the last time you saw prices this low. Heating oil prices are half this winter what they were last winter. Over a trillion dollars of the national debt has been eliminated. Osama bin Laden was killed. George W. Bush, on the other hand, had the single biggest terrorist attack on our country’s soil occur under his watch. His response to Katrina was horrific. He raised the national debt by doing 2 unpaid for tax cuts. Put 2 wars on the nation’s credit card. The economy and stock market went into free fall under his watch. Under his watch wall street had to be bailed out by us, the tax payers. Under his watch millions of people lost their homes, life savings and retirement because of the 2008 crash. Bush put us into a deep recession that narrowly avoided turning into a depression rivaling the great depression.
Now tell me again how Obama is the worst president ever.

        • Luke

Well did you do the math and explain the 94,000,000 out of work, not all of them have retired..
You don’t blame obama for the problems but you praise him for the good things which he has no control over either..
The last two years of Bush’s term he had a loony liberal congress who were determined to undermine him and the economy to benefit the pos you voted for..
obama is the worst and sorriest president ever, the middle-class is almost gone and most of the lib voters are drawing a gov’t check to keep them loyal lib voters. Now obama is flooding the country with illegals so they can be funded by the few of us left so they can vote for the loony liberals destroying this country..
So you burger flippers keep voting for the socialist/marxist trash and soon that check from the working people will stop..

          • Mike Zimmerman

I noticed you didn’t respond to any of the points I made. Bush did those tax cuts and both wars while Republicans controlled both the house and the Senate!! Katrina occurred while Republicans controlled both the house and the senate!! Bush had banking regulations weakened while Republicans controlled both the house and the Senate!! Alan Greenspan, the fed chairman under bush exacerbated the banking crisis by his policies while Republicans controlled both the house and the Senate. Hank paulson, Treasury Secretary fully didn’t grasp the crisis at hand and made it worse. Check out the documentary, “Inside Job” to more fully understand the banking crisis. Also see the movie, “Too Big to Fail” and “The Big Short” to better understand the banking crisis. Or read the book, The Big Short. Obama tried greatly to help the middle class but was fought tooth and nail by the Republicans who were more interested in seeing the country fail than for Obama to succeed.

          • Luke

Tax cuts are great for the country, not so much for moochers..
demonrats voted for both wars and are just as guilty..
I don’t watch opinion movies made by liars and other demonrats with an ax to grind..
Chris dodd and barney franks are responsible for the housing crash that basically destroyed a fragile economy..
But the liberals have made things much worse today putting everyone on welfare and disability..
liberals have destroyed the coal industry putting thousands out of work.
Companies have been leaving for china and mexico to get away from the over taxation of the liberals, etc..boring

          • Mike Zimmerman

Companies pay far less in taxes than what they should. When they can afford to pay their CEOs tens of millions a year, they can afford to pay taxes in the US as opposed to doing corporate inversions to avoid paying taxes in the US. They want to take advantage of the roads, rail lines and bridges that their products are shipped upon but they don’t want to pay taxes to maintain those same roads, bridges and rail lines. They want to take advantage of the electrical grid but they don’t want to pay taxes to help maintain it. They want to take advantage of the water and sewer lines but they don’t want to pay taxes to help maintain them. If they don’t pay their fair share then that means people like you and me are stuck paying more and more taxes to carry their share of taxes as well as ours. Let’s not forget all the government subsidies that come from our tax dollars that go to the oil and gas industry as well as big agriculture farm conglomerates. You certainly can’t tell me that with the billions of dollars the oil and gas industry rakes in every year that they need tax dollars from us each year. Let’s not forget all our tax dollars that bailed out the big banks and AIG after they destroyed the economy in 2008.
Let’s face it, both republicans and Democrats have blame to share with the de-regulation of the banking industry which allowed them to practically destroy the economy in 2008. It started under Reagan when congress, almost unanimously repealed the Glass-Steagall Act with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. This allowed the insanity within the banking industry which lead to the Keating 5 savings and loan scandal as well as the failure of Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers. It cost millions of people their homes, their retirements and their life savings. These banks were so out of control that they literally gave an migrant farm worker, who spoke no English, a $750,000 mortgage. The guy only made $25,000 a year. We all know that there is absolutely no way he could make that payment.
All this was done because the risk managers didn’t do their jobs, the bank regulators didn’t do their jobs, congress didn’t do its’ job, bank CEOs didn’t do their jobs, bank boards didn’t do their jobs, bank ratings agencies didn’t do their jobs and the federal reserve didn’t do its’ job. All they were interested in was short term profit and they ignored the long term damage they were causing for everyone else.

        • ken51136

As a dictator he has done well. If any bill gets past the liberal senate he is always willing to veto it if it doesn’t have EXACTLY what he dictates with NOTHING added by any conservatives.

        • Danny S.

And you can keep your doctor and insurance company! Sure ,when you count part time Jobs as employed and when it comes to inflation groceries and fuel are not counted things look good but really aren’t . The majority of OBAMA presidency gas prices have been above 3.50 a gallon nation wide. Obama has nothing to do with the oil prices falling thus lower gas prices . Liberals or socialist have to promise and lie ,distort to justify anything. The truth is everyday Americans are hurting big time under KING Obama!

          • Mike Zimmerman

As opposed to how they were really hurting from the economic debacle unleashed under bush Jr. Let’s not forget that he managed to take a billions of dollars budget surplus left to him by Clinton and turned it into a trillion dollar deficit in just 8 years. Let’s not forget that bush put 2 wars on the country’s credit card and did 2 unpaid for tax cuts. Let’s not also forget the debacle of Katrina as well as no child Left behind. Let’s not also forget the horrible economic mess bush left the country in. Millions of people lost their homes, jobs, life savings and retirements. Let’s not also forget the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history. That’s what one calls a horrible presidency!!

          • Danny S.

Let’s not forget the war on the constitution the church the police. Let’s not forget how you liberal cowards have turned your back on all the gains we made in Iraq and opened the door for ISIS. LET’S not forget we are 19 trillion in debt and growing. Let’s not forget that the Obama justice department has protected the gun runners, IRS, Bengazi , and soon to come HILLARY and her emails. You sir are part of the problem . Your IGNORANT!!!

          • Mike Zimmerman

Actually, you have George W. Bush to thank for losing your so-called gains in Iraq. He is the one who signed the status of forces agreement with Iraq for us to withdraw our troops. Look it up if you choose not to believe me. Let’s also look at the fact that the Bush administration lied us into war with Iraq. Let’s also look at the negative results of it. First of all, Iran and Iraq hated each other. So they basically cancelled one another out. While I won’t debate that sadaam was a brutal and evil dictator, he did keep Iran in check. By removing sadaam, not only did it remove Iran’s biggest enemy in the region it also de-stabilized the whole region as well as Iraq. Bush was the main reason Isis was able to develop. And by the way, where are those so-called wmds that were the supposed reason we went into Iraq, in the first place. You have trillions of dollars spent in Iraq on the war itself as well as no bid contracts to big firms, especially Halliburton and its’ spin-off KBR. Coincidentally, the former CEO of Halliburton was none other than Dick Cheyney. As far as Ben Ghazi goes you clearly ignore the fact that the republicans in the house dramatically cut funding for embassy security. As far as the IRS goes I’m assuming you’re referring to 501c organizations. Go back and look up the original legislation as written by congress. No 501c organizations qualify for tax deductible status. None are charitable organizations. As far as Hillary’s emails go you seem to conveniently forgetting that both Condi Rice and Colin Powell did the same thing. Where’s the outrage at that?? Colin Powell stated that publicly in the past couple of weeks. Back to Ben Ghazi the hearings were obviously such an embarrassment to Trey Gowdy he was made to look like a fool. Let’s not forget the statement on fox by the number two Republican in the house fully admitting that the whole point of the Ben Ghazi hearings was to lower Hillary’s poll numbers. In other words, there was never a real interest in truth. You want to talk about guns, now here’s where I’m really going to infuriate you. You can thank organizations such as the NRA and the GOA for all those guns out there. It is absolutely insane the cowardly fear that congress has to do anything to make getting guns more difficult. We lead major industrial countries, by far in gun deaths. It’s not even close. We average around 33,000 gun deaths per year. That’s 10 9/11 attacks each year. With the millions of guns in this country we should be the safest country in the world, but we’re not. We can’t go a week without a mass shooting, yet both Great Britain and Australia haven’t had a mass shooting since 1996. 1996!! Let that thought land on you!!!
You are the one who is living in a fact free world!!!

          • Danny S.

Your memory like most liberals leaves many crucial facts out . Also like most liberals the truth and facts are either ignored or changed. Your hero Obama had the opportunity to leave 20,000 troops in Iraq but choose to a Pease the hard left and with drew our troops . Results ISIS. You see when Obama escalated the Afghan war for the same reasons Bush did nothing is mentioned by guys like you. There have been wars continually through world history. There are bad guys in this world. It is proven that the world especially America is a safer place through strength . Liberals want to ignore the dangers until the world becomes more dangerous then ever. How’s that Iran deal working for you? Go to YouTube and watch Clinton tell us that his agreement with North KOREA would result in No nuclear weapons . LOL. You should get your facts right!

          • Mike Zimmerman

Well, Iran get rid of their nuclear material and no troops needed to risk their lives. No expensive war to pay for. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to pay added taxes for a needless war.
However you still haven’t countered any of arguments with actual facts to back up what you’re saying. You still haven’t even tried to answer what I said in my previous response. Where is your response???
Once again, you have Bush to thank, in the first place. You seem to avoid fearfully that point.
Where are your facts? I want facts, not innuendo and illogical statements.

          • Danny S.

How about this one . EVERY Democrat but one voted for the Iraq war.

          • Mike Zimmerman

Bernie Sanders. Yeah. Bad vote from cherry picked intel that proved to be totally false. Let’s not forget that the Bush administration revealed the identify of an undercover CIA agent named Valerie Plame because her husband proved that Iraq didn’t have nuclear material to make nuclear weapons. By the way, it’s treasonous act to reveal the identity of an undercover CIA agent.
You still haven’t addressed my points yet. Facts must be bringing you down.

          • Danny S.

Bad Intel – Good intel= whatever! Take responsibility for your vote.
You must be ready to shoot HILLARY for what there finding out about her emails. While I don’t defend anybody who breaks the law .Especially if it puts someone in danger . You must feel the same about Hillary and Obama’s will full negligence in Bengazi where Americans actually died. I also think if you want to be fair that a president who uses executive orders or ignores laws he doesn’t like to circumvent congress and the constitution should be at the least impeached.

          • Mike Zimmerman

Not bad intel. They had a pre-conceived conclusion that they wanted proven and willfully chose to ignore facts that disproved the conclusion they wanted. That is a huge difference!! If you want arrest presidents for executive orders then you would be arresting every president, living and dead because every single president in the history of the US has issued executive orders. You want to talk about arresting Obama for executive orders, then you need to be arresting Bush and Cheney for violating US law by torturing people (war crimes) as well as treason for revealing the identity of an undercover CIA agent. The Republican controlled house dramatically cut embassy funding so they are guilty for those deaths. When are you charging them? You could’ve easily impeached Bush and Cheney for lying us into war as well as for war crimes. When are you calling for charges against them? I’m waiting!!!
You still haven’t answered any of my previous points. If you can’t handle facts don’t bother posting silliness or trying to respond to posts without facts.

          • Danny S.

As usual you liberals ignore facts and live in wacky wonderland . The difference in Bush’s executive orders they didn’t change existing laws on the books or by pass the constitution.

          • Mike Zimmerman

You still haven’t answered anything I’ve said. You just keep avoiding the topics and changing the subject. You’re like Donald Trump and his fear of Megan Kelly. LOL!!

          • Danny S.

Hey Dickinson Head Bush was president almost 8 yrs ago. There has been lots of time to fix things. We don’t blame your MOM for you !! But we may if you don’t grow up!

Bush created the problems in Iraq by attacking it, in the first place!! Why is it that Republicans create all the messes in the world, then they complain loudly when democrats don’t clean them up fast enough to suit republicans? The great depression; cleaned up by FDR. Reagan started the cutting of regulations on wall street which led to the savings and loan scandals (remember the Keating 5)? Daddy Bush continued the deregulation of wall street. Both left a huge deficit. Clinton came along and actually left a billions of dollars budget surplus which bush Jr quickly blew through with 2 unpaid tax cuts and putting 2 unpaid wars on the country’s credit card. Bush Jr also greatly accelerated the cutting of regulations on wall street which allowed the idiocy that occurred under his watch which culminated in the total crash of the stock market and the housing industry. Between those 3 Republican presidents they managed to accumulate $19 million in debt. Trickle down economics is literally voo doo economics. It doesn’t work. It raises debt and only benefits the wealthy.
Trying to fix things requires congress working together. We’ve seen how much congress cares very little about doing that. The house has voted over 50 times to repeal Obama Care but has yet to put forth a jobs program. Our nation’s infrastructure is in dramatic need of improvement and repair but Republicans have fought tooth and nail against doing anything about it. Case in point, the lead poisoning of the water in Flint, Michigan could have been avoided by paying an additional $100 a day. Now it going to cost millions upon millions of dollars to try to mitigate the damage. And who is responsible for that mess? Rick Snyder, Republican governor of Michigan.
Doing a massive infrastructure program would cost a lot of money. But it would put unemployed people back to work. This would mean less money paid out in unemployment, food stamps and assistance programs. It would also mean more tax money from pay checks going into local and state tax coffers to pay for necessary things like road and bridge maintenance and repair, fire and ambulance services, police departments, schools and so forth. The roads and bridges in this country, as well as the electrical grid, as well as the water and sewer lines all need repaired and updated. But it would put a lot of people to work doing needed work. This would also further benefit the economy because working people would be replacing their worn out refrigerators, freezers, washers and dryers, stoves, cars, televisions and so forth. This net effect would help businesses as well. The associated businesses in the steel, concrete, macadam, heavy equipment industries would benefit as well. However it takes both sides of the aisle working together to achieve this. It is quite obvious that Republicans don’t want to achieve this. Let’s not forget that the Republicans, the night of Obama’s first inauguration met and their objective became trying to make him a one term president. So don’t complain about Obama not cleaning up the Republican mess fast enough.

            U R FO Shyte.

          • Mike Zimmerman

Just the facts. Actually spend some time doing research. Try picking up a book and reading it. Facts can be so illuminating.

          • biilyjoe

YUK YUK– LOL– Strange an Illuminati sympathizer should use the term “illuminating”– let’s do some doublethink: Light is dark because dark is true light. That’s the kind of nonsense “illuminators” like u are capable of. Pants up !! Don’t ” il- Loot-minate” !!

          • Mike Zimmerman

How about torture? Did we conveniently forget that as well as extreme rendition.

          • Danny S.

Splashing water over someone’s head is only torture to you! If it was me the finger nails would have been removed really slowww!!
If you need info from terrorist you get it!

          • Mike Zimmerman

Obviously you know nothing about waterboarding so I will explain it to you in detail. The victim is laid down on their back. Their body is tied down so that even their heads can’t move. A waterlogged towel is placed over their heads. Their mouths are forced open so they can’t close them. Then a five gallon bucket of water is poured over their mouths. That, most definitely, is not splashing water on someone’s face. The whole point if it is to simulate drowning. Once you’ve undergone it, then tell me it’s just splashing water on someone’s face.

          • Danny S.

I know perfectly about how it works. Been there . Not one terrorist died from it. But we got lots of info. Maybe some that saved your worthless hide or someone you know. Don’t be a self rightious fool. There are people out here that have to do what’s needed. You know so you can continue to run your mouth. You probably don’t care for our sniper program either?

          • Mike Zimmerman

What do you base this belief that we got useful information from torturing people? You spend far to much time watching 24.
Actually there were a few who died, and some of them turned out to be innocent as it was mistaken identity. How do you undo that? Oops, we killed innocent people by mistake. Our bad. How do you undo the damage from that. How do you restore their life? How do you undo the damage to their families?? Do you think a simple “Sorry, we screwed up, is going to make things right?” I sure don’t think so.

          • Danny S.

Obama said that there was no useful info gotten from our tactics. We know that he has a huge problem about the truth especially when he thinks there is political gain. One thing we got from the torcher was the name of the courier that lead to killing OBL. There are numerous books out that tell of some of the intelligence that possibly saved lives. Much is still classified.

          • Mike Zimmerman

If it was so effective then why did they waterboarding ksm almost 300 times. If it was so effective, it would have only needed a couple of times. You people watch to much 24!! TV shows aren’t real life.

          • Danny S.

Who cares about KSM you idiot
He wanted to kill as many Americans as he could. Your the weak excuse of a man who stands for nothing of value. Go cast your vote for Hillary and forget the fact that she is as corrupt as can be. She is a litmus test as to what a loser you and other libs are. How many free things are you getting from the government?

          • Mike Zimmerman

You know nothing about me. You don’t know me as a person. What you don’t like is that I disagree with you say. I have that right. I happen to think that torturing people is morally and ethically wring. Actually, at this point, I’m feeling the Bern. I most certainly will not be voting for Trump, Cruz or rubio. Actually, I work for a living. I’ve been with the same employer for almost 31 years. So no, I’m not getting any government freebies. You sure are striking out with your assumptions. So go ahead and put your anus on your face!!

          • Danny S.

Dumb ass hillbilly! StupidMarxist! It doesn’t bother you taking from someone who works for a living to give it to some lazy ass. (That’s real moral). Your totally a poster child for what’s wrong with this country. GO LIVE IN THE UK THEY SEEM TO LIKE GOVERNMENT DEPENDENT LOSERS WHO TAKE FROM SUCCESSFUL WORKERS.Same goes for defending this country .You think that what happens else where is not our business ( let’s act like they will just go away. It doesn’t matter if there beheading Christians ,raping , torturing innocent human beings. YOU SUCK ASSHOLE!
YOUR SO MORAL AND SELF RIGHTEOUS.

          • Mike Zimmerman

I happen to be anything but a hillbilly. I live in close proximity to my state’s capital. I’m certainly not a Marxist. I work for a living. As far as caring for those less fortunate, let’s not forget the biblical principle “to whom much is given, much shall be required.” Let’s also not forget the biblical principle, “Jesus speaking, as you’ve done it to the least of these, you’ve done it to me.” Conversely, “as you’ve not done it to the least of these, you’ve not done it to me.”
Actually, we’ve done a lot of harm by sticking our noses into other countries business. Your inability to express yourself respectfully just shows the immaturity you possess.

          • Danny S.

No your wrong. Opinions are like ass holes everyone has one. You should take these communications and rethink your socialist/Marxist beliefs. The problem with them is they don’t work . Those countries who have tried socialism have failed or are failing. We will be next if we continue to adopt European style socialism. Only winners are the government elites. Socialist are the biggest hypocrites I know. They tell you to pay higher taxes as they get really wealthy like Hillsry and Obama have become .They talk climate change while flying all over the world to their 20,000 sq. Foot homes. They preach gun control while they send their kids to guarded schools and have guards protecting them with guns.As I pointed out we can’t just stand bye and watch people get murdered. It is our business!

          • Mike Zimmerman

Actually, you should rethink your beliefs. All you care about is yourself. You’re selfish, you’ve got yours and forget helping anyone else. Sorry, I choose not to live that way.

          • Danny S.

No Way loser. I think we should go stand up for the Christians in Iraq and Syria. I am for building the spirit of the poor and helping them become independent of the government. I am all for rebelling against both the DNC AND GOP. They have hijacked our government . That is why I support Cruz he is anti establishment with a voting record to prove it. He believes in God and the constitution. This is the reason so many people are attracted to Trump because he is anti establishment. I don’t want him!

          • Mike Zimmerman

If he believes in God he has a funny way of showing it. His statements in the debates have been fact checked and he’s been proven to have lied 95% of the time. Let’s not also forget the dirty trick he pulled on Ben Carson in Iowa claiming that he was dropping out of the race. Let’s not also forget the hold he placed on funding to repair the lead water poisoning situation in Flint, Michigan. He’s also very much disliked within the Senate, as well.
On Trump, the man is such a racist, bigot and misogynist he’s a blight on the country. He’s an embarrassment to the Republican party.

          • Mike Zimmerman

US average income, as of 2014, for the top 0.1% was $6,087,113. For the top 1% was $1,260,508. For the top 5% $448,489. For the top 10% $295,845. For the bottom 90% $33,068. So tell me again why we shouldn’t tax the wealthy more to benefit people in the bottom 90%. The top 10 insurance companies in the US paid their CEOs, on average, $20,000,000 as of 2010. See the documentary “Inside Job” which talks about the 2008 stock market crash and see what exorbitant salaries those people, who very nearly put us back into another great depression, because of their excessive greed. You talk about gun control. In this country, 33,000 people die each year from guns. We can’t go a week without a mass shooting. A week. On the other hand, Great Britain and Australia haven’t had a mass shooting since 1996. We lead major industrialized nation’s in gun deaths. You only pay social security taxes on the first $118,000 each year. So even if you make $100,000,000 you still only have social security taken out of that first $118,000 and none thereafter. Average workers are taxed at 28% while the mega wealthy are taxed at 10%. Yeah, the system most definitely doesn’t favor the lower class.

          • Danny S.

Your the one who watches too much tv. First it isn’t a perfect world we live in regards to what the super successful have and what the not so successful have. Who are you to decide what is fair? I could go into 1000 reasons why many rich people deserve what they have.
Ted Cruz is proposing a flat tax which should even the playing field. I don’t think it is fair that 47% of Americans pay no tax at all and they vote almost 100% democrat . So using my tax dollars to buy votes to keep these politicians in power doesn’t seem right or fair to me. We spend 71 cents out of every dollar of our budget on social programs . I’m not even close to being a 1% er but if you want to be fair they alre a dy pay 10% of our tax revenue. Maybe you should stop watching TV shows and look at what a mess politicians have made of things. As Obama as shown over the last 7 yrs we have a huge spending problem and until that is fixed there will never be enough money printed or collected
Class warfare is and Alansky tactic that only a feeds the hate of the have nots. You are now touching on the basic difference between the GOP and the DNC. We were founded on the principle of capitalism not socialism. If government would just get out of the way and let the free market system work there would be much more wealth at the middle class and more opportunity for lower income people. You have to follow the money . Business will move if taxes and regulations are to high. They will stop highering new workers if profits are low. Social engineering (determine winners and losers) is not working. The answer is lower taxes , lots more good paying jobs , keeping dad’s in the family, opportunity !#! Not welfare and no opportunity.
            ,

          • Mike Zimmerman

You just proved how little you know about taxation. You say 47% pay no taxes. That is an outright lie. Medicare, local wage, social security, state tax, federal tax, school tax, property tax as well as sales tax. And actually, as far as the federal budget goes, the biggest percentage goes to the military. You want to talk about welfare, let’s talk about corporate welfare as well as the corporations who are keeping their money overseas rather than paying their fair share of taxes. The oil and gas industry as well as big agriculture are two of biggest recipients of tax payer money. Let’s not forget the billions of dollars we tax payers shelled out to bail out AIG as well as the banking industry after they tanked the stock market and the economy in 2008. A flat tax rate actually hurts poorer people, overall.

          • Danny S.

I’m not a fan of some of the programs you mentioned either is Cruz. However you are wrong about the 47% that don’t pay FEDERAL taxes. 71 % of budget is entitlements . Do your home work. The national debt is 19 trillion dollars projected to be 23 trillion in 4 more yrs. The government has mismanaged every existing social programs putting them in danger of extinction .Obama bailed out the banks ,GM etc. Non of the Wall Street cronies are in jail.We have the highest business tax in the world. Lower taxes the money will come home. Business is no different then you in that if you can legally keep your money instead of giving it to the tax man that is what you do. Our tax system is responsible for driving business off shore. A flat tax will bring in more revenue in and make business more competitive which will bring more jobs and opportunity to the poor. We have a social welfare system that is so full of corruption . Maybe you should do some research on the total benefits that many states pay people not to work. Example is Hawaii and mass. Is near 60 thousand a yr in different subsidies . Militany keeps us safe and is a deterrent to war. Also the constitution allows for funding the military. Not heath care and the programs you mentioned above.

          • Mike Zimmerman

Obama didn’t bail out the banks; that was bush. It was the TARP act which was enacted in 2008. Obama first became president in 2009. I laid out the taxes the 47% pay. You don’t refunds on Medicare taxes or social security taxes, nor do you get refunds on school tax. Neither do you get refunds on all of your local, state or federal taxes. So yes, the 47% do pay taxes. I totally agree with you those wall Street crooks should be in jail. They wrecked their companies, devastated our economy, cost millions of people their homes, life savings and retirements. Congress shares a serious part of the blame for that, as well, because they repealed the Glass/Steagall Act which prevented them from being able to do the harm they did. The regulatory agencies that were supposed to keep them in check didn’t do their jobs, either. The Treasury departments under Reagan, both Bushes and Clinton helped to prevent regulations on derivatives trading which seriously needed to be done. The Fed chairmen Greenspan and bernanke didn’t do a good job keeping them in check, either. Obama, in the aftermath, needed to put much tighter regulations on the banking industry didn’t do as much as they needed to do. It was a start but it certainly won’t prevent future stupidity.

          • Danny S.

I agree with a few things that you have said . If you are going to fix some of this and have a more equal playing field you need a fair tax system. Get rid of lobbyist in Washington .Term limits. SHRINK THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT. Stop big all inclusive budget bills where pork barrel spending and power grabs are included. Line vote one item at a time.
Your habit of rehashing who did what and the blame game do nothing . The system as I said earlier have hijacked our government.
These politicians live in a bubble where what’s good for you isn’t so for them. Like when they exempted themselves from Obamacare. They even committed fraud to do it by saying they were a small employer. Same can be said for their excessive retirements. The UK has a King and Queen. We have leaders here who think they are kings and forget who they are here to serve.
This administration has failed to do anything note worthy . The war on the police, race, constitution and church. The successful 1% which both Obama and Hillary are now members .
These are good stragities to take the masses eyes off the ball.l
Here is a article you can believe or not http://www.americanthinker.Com
            Why Blame Obama

          • Mike Zimmerman

I agree we should lower tax rates on the poor and middle class. However, we do need to raise tax rates on the wealthy and mega wealthy. With the way their income is taxed they actually are taxed at 2/3rds less than the poor and middle class. And let’s face, they can afford it.
You want to lower taxes; but let’s not forget that it’s taxes that pay for roads, bridges, water and sewer lines, electrical grid development, the military, fire and police, agencies that help to make sure our food is safe to eat, cars are safe to drive and so forth.

          • Danny S.

I don’t believe it should be my opinion of who is paying enough and not enough. Tax law should be the same for everyone. A level playing field. The 1% now pay 60% of our federal tax revenue. I am not near the 1% just think all Americans should contribute. Flat tax is based on a fixed percent .Same for everyone. As I stated earlier if the fraud and waste are reduced and reduced tax rate the jobs will come back and the poor and middle class jobs and incomes will increase. The welfare laws need to go back to B.Clintons law where welfare was not a career and had a ending date.

          • Mike Zimmerman

The 1% currently also have 90% of the income so of course they pay more. When Eisenhower was president the wealthy were taxed at 90%. Now they are only taxed at 10%. The poor and middle class at 28%. So I have no problem with raising the rate they’re taxed at. They can more than afford it.

          • Mike Zimmerman

And if it’s so acceptable to you, that the US tortured people under Bush, then we need to apologize to the Nazis and Japanese that we convicted as war criminals for torturing US and our allies troops.

          • Danny S.

You are soon stupid. Terrorists don’t have rules of engagement. Terrorist don’t have uniforms to let you know who they are.
Terrorists have declared war on you !
If I feel the need because I think they have info. That will save American lives I will start snipping off fingers and toes to get what info I need.
Pretty simple stuff them or us! Results count not being political .

          • Mike Zimmerman

So by you doing that, you’re also giving them permission to do the same to you. That’s a slippery slope you’re rationale is taking you down. Following the adage of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth just results in every one eventually being blind and toothless. In the last 100 years the US has stuck its’ nose in the business of countless countries all over the globe and in a lot of instances the results are mixed at best. In some instances the results had done a lot more harm than good. We armed the Afghan Taliban back when Russia invaded Afghanistan. Those same weapons were used by the Taliban against us in Afghanistan when we invaded it. Let’s not forget us propping up the shah of Iran against the will of the Iranian people. That ended up in hostages being taken at our embassy when the shah was overthrown and ayatollah Khomeini took over. Let’s not forget the Iran contra deal. Let’s not forget us giving weapons to Iraq during their war with Iran. Those same weapons were uses against us when we invaded Iraq. Then, those same iraai soldiers weren’t disarmed and a percentage of them became Isis. Back to iran contra were talking about arming the dictator Pinochet in Nicaragua. That’s just a few of our policy blunders. Lebanon, where a couple of hundred Marines were killed in a terrorist bombing back in the 1980’s.

          • Danny S.

You have lived a sheltered life. These people are barbarians who think that people like you are weak. There are no rules! Wise up.You can’t make deals with the bad guys. Look at history (the bible, the crusades. We don’t have to be the world police but we do have a responsibility to lead. You can’t just put your head in the sand and think that these guys won’t come for you. Obama pulled our troops from Iraq and now we have ISIS. The Israelis have tried to have peace only to be broken everytime. THERE ARE BAD GUYS OUT THERE. Also I will remind you that from the beginning of time there have been wars.like it or hate it others want what you have.
I believe like Reagan that you get peace through strength.

          • Mike Zimmerman

Actually, you have bush to blame for the troops being pulled out of Iraq. He’s the one who signed the status of forces agreement or SOFA which required the troops to be removed from Iraq by a set date. Of course, if bush hadn’t invaded Iraq, in the first place, we wouldn’t be in the predicament we’re in now. Bush’s invasion de-stabilized that whole region. Bad mistake on his part as he had absolutely no end strategy to get out of Iraq wisely. Also, they took no thought to the fact that you have three diverse people groups in Iraq, and none of them get along well.
Acting like barbarians, in return to people that you define as barbarians, makes us barbarians, as well.

          • Danny S.

Old bull shit from liberals who listen to msnbc. Bush agreement called for retaining 20,000 troops. Obama decided to not negotiate with Iraq on what they wanted the agreement to look like. This was done by Obama to make his extreme right happy (you). Obama left Iraq and now we have ISIS. I will remind you all this happened on Obama’s watch. Stop blaming Bush he was out of office. When do you start giving Obama credit for the stuff that happens under his watch ? What do you think about Obama escalating the Afghan war in his watch? I’m keeping my guns no matter what you libs try to do. Our world here becoming more dangerous with open borders and bringing in unveiled muslims here.

          • Mike Zimmerman

Actually, you have bush to thank for Isis. He attacked Iraq in the first place. He disbanded the Iraqi military but didn’t disarm them. Isis is mainly composed of former sadaam loyalist and military leadership. You don’t attack Iraq; you don’t have Isis. Simple matter of cause and effect.

          • Danny S.

Your a no good waste of time gutless liberal hack. Don’t worry you loser. It will be guys like ME who will keep you safe by keeping the bad guys at bay.
You keep talking and hoping that your lack of courage will make the bad guys leave you alone.
The bad guys understand and respect one thing FEAR.
Good luck living a life lacking in character, principals and courage.
In a survey taken not long ago it asked muslims if they believed in the radical muslim doctrine and 10% said that they were believers . There are 1.2 billion muslims .Do the math! Yep mistakes can be made and Obama with his support of the palistinians and his Iran agreement could be the end of the world as we know it. Under Clinton we allowed N.Korea to get nukes which B.Clinton said wouldn’t happen. Go to YouTube and watch what he said . It sounds much like the Iran aggreement. This world is much more dangerous because of people like you! John F.Kennedy escalated the Vietnam War but we never hear shit from libs about that. Your parents should have taught you that life is not easy that anything worth while you have to earn. If you don’t like your country and don’t.want to support her leave!!!#.We are not perfect but every other country wishes they were as great.

            Good luck kid,
You have a lot of growing up to do!!

          • Mike Zimmerman

People like you amuse me. You just can’t handle facts. I do love my country. I also believe that in loving my country I have to support it when it’s doing the right thing and call it out when it’s doing the wrong thing. Just like parenting a child. You correct it when it does something wrong and encourage it when it does the right thing. Now as far as the “kid” comment goes, unless your in your 80’s or 90’s I’d reconsider that snide remark.

          • Danny S.

Are you stupid enough to think that lack of money was the reason we let those men die. You showed me your dishonesty here. Like I SAID LIBERAL LIES AND FALSE PRMOISES ARE ALL YOU HAVE. GO WASTE SOMEONE ELSE’S TIME!

          • Mike Zimmerman

You’re the one wasting people’s time by not answering facts. You can’t logically defend your positions so you keep deflecting and avoiding answering questions. You make personal attacks because you can’t produce facts to back your positions. Actually, there’s nothing wrong with being liberal. Just like there’s nothing wrong with being conservative. However, you have to be able to defend your positions logically. You also have to be factual with what you have to say.

          • Danny S.

You spit out liberal talking points that anyone with knowledge of history or common sense know that what you say happened with the cooperation or influence of the other party. Example being the Iraq war . Both parties had same intel and voted for it. Same can be said for most of the questions you brought up. Difference between you and me is when I see a bad action I call like it is. My opinion on Bush was in the end he had a democratic congress and he allowed big government liberal spending. He lost control and became what we conservatives call a Rhino. You liberals blame the 2008 fall on Bush and he should get some blame but without getting into it there was lots of blame to give the Dems. So keep throwing rocks because you just don’t get it. Both parties are high jacking this country .The question here should be which party is causing more harm!

          • Mike Zimmerman

Regarding the intel that was voted upon it was provided by the republicans, not the democrats. The republicans ignored any evidence that opposed their desired outcome. That cherry picked evidence was then provided to congress. So congress was deliberately deceived by the administration. So why are you defending the Bush administration on all their bad actions? You still haven’t answered the vast majority of my arguments. You are the one who doesn’t get it. You choose to willfully ignore truth because facts apparently scare you. Your party is dying because it’s no longer an open and accepting party. Reagan nor Lincoln wouldn’t even recognize today’s republican party. Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower would be appalled by today’s republican party. They would think it had not only lost it’s mind but also it’s soul.

          • Danny S.

The Intel came from the UK. That being said your boys voted for it. They are pretty incompetent if they can’t make good decisions. So let’s talk about just how good your party is doing.
93 million people not working and not counted on the unemployment roles . ( owe how convenient ). 53 million people on food stamps. 22 million on Disability and welfare. 47 percent (the highest percent ever getting government check). Debt at 19 trillion and growing. The middle east is burning. We have no idea who is coming over our borders ( are they sick, criminals, terrorists we don’t know). Remember 2008 well here’s something your left wing media won’t tell you ( for closures are approaching 2008 levels ,commercial property is in trouble and 5 yr arm loans have a very high delingency soon to be forclosures). We have a war on the church, the police, and the constitution. The middle class in not only getting smaller but there income in a couple thousand dollars less. I could go on for ever Obama tells you guys ever thing is getting better with a lie ( 4.9 % unemployment) no inflation. You guys hate the evil 1% but brag about how well the stock market is doing. Why because capitalism works . The fed has interest rates at almost zero and so the only place companies and wall street can make money is the evil stock market. Obama’s money policies have been a win fall for big money and that is why the 1% under Obama have grown while everyone else has not. That is enough for now .

The republicans have blame on Benghazi as they had control of the house. The house sets the budget for the state department. They cut the budget for the state department regarding protection of embassies. Let’s not forget, that was a CIA outpost.

Bernie sanders, and he’s an independent running for the Democratic presidential primary. And they, all but him, were wrong.

      • I Seigel

With 94,000,000 out of work, I’d expect there to be a LOT more moochers taking handouts from the government. Where’s the evidence of that? Maybe some or many of those people aren’t looking for work, don’t want to work, are going to school or are retired. The 94 million are “working-age” people, not all are unemployed people.

        • Luke

Keep drinking the kool-aid..or better yet, ask some young people coming out of school how the job market is..
I’m sure there are liberal type jobs available, valet parking or burger flippers

          • I Seigel

The Number One priority for the GOP when they took over Congress, according to Boehner and McConnell, was JOBS. How’s that working out for ya?

And who’s supposed to be doing all this hiring you’re whining about? You expect Obama and the government to employ these people? How about all the people losing their jobs at fracking companies and oil companies? Do you blame Obama? Or Saudi Arabia? Or the greed of the frackers?

          • Luke

obama did create many gov’t jobs and burger flipping jobs while destroying coal miners jobs and most construction jobs because of idiotic liberal epa regulations
obama hasn’t created many jobs worth having in 7years, he has run them out of America with his climate change hoax and taxation above any country in the world..
And oil prices have come down because of collapsing economies and the efforts of private oil drillers on private land, the chump in chief hates that

          • I Seigel

In case you haven’t noticed, natural gas is a much cheaper, easier to get at, and less polluting energy source than coal. Jobs in the coal mining industry have been steadily dropping for decades, or haven’t you noticed? West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania – they weren’t hugely prosperous states up until Obama became president, or hadn’t you noticed? This nonsense of Obama killing the coal industry is nonsense – it’s been dying a long slow death for decades. Just like the coal miners themselves. Or hadn’t you noticed?

Maybe you should look outside of Fox and Breitbart and Rush for your news. The reason that oil prices have come down is because of Saudi Arabia and OPEC. They see the success of fracking and cheap oil, and they believe their only strategy for defending their business is to go on offense, to drive the price of oil WAY down and keep it down to drive the frackers out of business. Then they’ll start to raise the price again and return the market to it’s old, Arab-centric business model. If you hadn’t noticed, Obama didn’t stand in the way of the fracking business at all. If anything, the states themselves are fighting them. Oklahoma is racked by earthquakes, and their legislature is thinking of regulations. Ohio already has. It’s not about Obama, or Dems vs Reps. This is serious GLOBAL trade and finances that we don’t have a lot of control over.

          • Luke

LOL, the coal industry has been hurt bad by obama and his jackboots at the epa making unconstitutional laws and regulations. We have enough coal to last over a hundred years and people want it used by the energy utilities.
I know obama has nothing to do with the cheap oil like you claim, it came down in-spite of him and the epa wackos..The private companies and private landowners keep the price down, not the opec liberals love..
Maybe you should look at other sources of news instead of the lying anti-American liberal media you love so much now and confuses so many like you..

          • I Seigel

So answer me this genius boy: If it’s the “private companies and private landowners” that are keeping the price down, why are so many of the fracking companies going out of business and firing their workers? What you’re saying is, the companies are choosing to hurt THEMSELVES, right? Why would they do that? Your information doesn’t make any sense.

You think liberals love OPEC??!?! LOL!

Yes, we do have lots of coal. That’s not the question. But there are many states and many cities that DO NOT want mile-long trains filled with coal (or fracked oil) coming thru their cities to ports, so it can be sold to China. And you don’t think the coal industry has been suffering during the past 40 years? You think their problems started in 2008? You need to ask the people of West Virginia. It’s not Obama, genius boy. Look at YOUR sources of news and see what their agenda is and who’s sponsoring them. Can you say KOCH BROTHERS?

Get your sources of information out and tell me: How many people were employed in coal mining in 2007, and how many in 2015? You might not be interested in actual, verifiable facts, but “libturds” are. At the following links you’ll find some actual facts:

            http://www.bls.gov/oes/2007/may/naics4_212100.htm
            http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/naics4_212100.htm

In case you’re too lazy to check the figures, let me give you a synopsis:

In 2007, there were 77,460 people employed in the coal mining industry. Out of those, 38,550 (49.77%) of those were in the “construction and extraction” end of the business – not management, health care workers, janitors, etc.

In 2014, there were 73,830 people employed, and the “hardhats” totaled 34,930 (47.32%) of the overall total.

Now, you will probably say bulls**t, so you show me some legitimate, non-biased figures. Because the ones that I found show that during 7 years of the Obama administration, a total of 3,600 people left the industry or lost their jobs, and out of that, the “hardhats” lost about 3,600 jobs.

Strange, I just noticed that all the job loss came from the miners and construction workers, not the managers and white-collar workers. Don’t you think that’s interesting?

So, 3600 jobs lost. Does that sound like Obama and “his jackboots” and the “epa wackos” have destroyed the coal business? I would bet you a week’s pay that a lot more people lost their jobs at Hewlett-Packard during Carly Fiorina’s time as the CEO there.

The price of oil has hit bottom because of the economy, goofy..
Our economy here suffers because of the loons in this administration and their determination to save mother earth from us humans..
The surface of the earth covered with solar panels, batteries for them and wind turbines is not the answer, only the mother earth loons believe this..
Many people are out of work in this country whether you believe it or not, so keep watching the obama trash at pmsnbc for your libtard news and lies..

          • I Seigel

Wait a minute! The price of oil hit bottom “because of the economy, goofy”??!! That has to be one of the silliest comments I have read here, and it shows you have a complete lack of understanding. Ever hear of OPEC? Did you know the very low price of oil is severely affecting Russia, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia? All are sovereign, independent countries that didn’t vote for Obama, they don’t watch pmsnbc there and aren’t ruled by libturds. Did you know that?
Did you know that big-time fracking was just getting started when Obama took over? He didn’t have anything to do with the science or the techniques of fracking. He doesn’t have anything to do with the earthquakes happening in Ohio and Oklahoma, and he has nothing to do with the price of oil, which is influenced mainly by the Saudis and OPEC.
Never mind. You’re too stupid to understand, and too close-minded to even care. Have a nice day.

          • Luke

Your ignorance is beyond the pale, you think that pos in the WH and his jackbooted epa and their draconian regulations aren’t hurting America, of course you don’t, your head has been shrunk and placed up your obama..

          • I Seigel

If you could possibly explain what the jackbooted EPA influence is over Saudi Arabia’s oil-drilling policy, I’d be very interested.

  • xingqin

Many have given up hope, many have taken part time low paying jobs and these things show that less are unemployed when it fact it is just another way Obama misrepresents to the public.

  • rwp24382

Obama has to be the Wizard of OZ. Maybe he should hire Tommy Chong for press secretary. If everyone in the press corp is toked up, it might be believable. How can the media report such lies with a straight face? Obama wants to brainwash people into thinking the economy is great, so that Hillary can be coronated and further destroy the country.

Something that would be funny, would be to have several GOP people around when he would make the announcement. Then have all of them bust out laughing hysterically in front of the cameras. It would be so fitting and the libs would go ballistic.

    • I Seigel

They had that opportunity during the State of the Union speech. I didn’t see anyone do that

  • josebear5

Obama is not fooling anybody truth is not he is vocabulary most people understand that.
