Senate vs. the CIA: Battle over government secrecy and constitutional powers

by
March 12, 2014

In a stunning public accusation Tuesday, the chairwoman of the Senate intelligence committee said the CIA snooped through congressional computers and is trying to intimidate Congress into backing off a report looking into charges of torture during terrorist-linked interrogations.

The accusation by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, escalated what had been a simmering dispute into a full-blown constitutional battle.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle backed Mrs. Feinstein and said that having an executive agency — the CIA in particular — breaking into congressional computers is a major breach of trust and could result in criminal charges.

The accusations had shades of Cold War intrigue, and many Republicans rallied to Mrs. Feinstein’s defense, saying major separation-of-powers issues were at stake in the CIA’s snooping.

The White House, meanwhile, tried to duck questions about the matter by saying it would await an internal CIA auditor’s report.

Liberals don’t care Obamacare is only a socialistic healthcare plan, dictating Americans healthcare. Liberals don’t care Putin is just running amok, as he is ignoring, intimating, humiliating Obama, by pushing Obama around as his lackey. Liberals don’t care, once Putin gets the Crimea now, he will get the rest of the Ukraine, building up the old Soviet Empire again, piece by piece, wanting to be going back to the cold war days, knowing America has a weak wimp leader, that doesn’t have the ability, experience, knowledge or the kahuna’s, to force Putin to stop and behave.

Awe, Congress thinks it is just fine for abuses of Citizens privacy rights using National Security as an excuse but when they are targeted in the same way for the same reasons, all hell breaks loose, and Fienstein blows a gasket claiming it is UN-Constitutional.. Amazing how all of a sudden the Constitution suddenly become relevant when they are the target….

This is one of the scariest news events going right now. Ukraine? Obamacare? Pshaw!! THIS is true abuse of power. It’s remarkable what the Bush White House justified and carried out, right under our noses. I’m glad the press is FINALLY paying attention
