Trump: Muslim judges might be biased against me, too

by Ben Wolfgang  |  published on June 6, 2016

Standing by his contention that a Mexican judge is treating him unfairly because of his plan to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Sunday said it’s “possible” that Muslim judges also could be biased against him.

In an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Mr. Trump said his proposal to temporarily ban all Muslims from entering the U.S. could theoretically lead Muslim judges to single him out and treat him unfairly.

“It’s possible, yes. That would be possible, absolutely,” Mr. Trump said when asked about the prospect of getting a fair hearing in front of a Muslim judge.

Mr. Trump has come under intense fire — including from some fellow Republicans — for saying U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is of Mexican heritage, is biased against him. Judge Curiel is presiding over a lawsuit brought against Trump University.

Just let Trump keep running his mouth and see what dumb stuff falls out?

    • Rodney Steward

Obama been running his D-Sers for over 7 years and nothing but BS has flowed from his mouth!!

  • Milt Wirth

Poor little Donnie Boy. Everyone is out to get him. Proof that the Hispanic named judge is is treating him unfairly? Proof that any Muslim judge is or will treat him unfairly? Anyone that says anything negative or says anything that Trumpity Dumbity disagrees with is being unfair and gets attacked. What a bully. Grow up little boy!! Gee, I hope he doesn’t sue me or punch me in the face(not that he would do that himself). Presidential? I think not!!!!

    • Rodney Steward

Which one of the Gutter Rats are you for, free everything Sanders or the NWO Clinton, both will finish off the country! You look like a free ride man!

  • Dolores Adams

Why do we even have muslim judges in OUR country? You couldn’t trust them.

  • justinwachin

I think Donald Trump is probably right. He has said enough things against Mexicans and Muslims to cause a judge from either group to treat him unfairly.

With that said, the prosecution should make sure the plaintiff should be eager to make sure Trump has a fair judge. Based on what I’ve read about Trump University a plaintiff should not want a questionable judge to mess up what is likely to be a win for the plaintiff.

    • Barrustio

Well then that qualifies this judge to adjudicate on the case since he is not a Mexican but rather an AMERICAN.

      • justinwachin

I think everyone understands that the judge is an American citizen. I was referring to the judge supposedly being of Mexican dissent.

Trump’s actions aren’t unusual in high-profile cases. A competent defense team will consider whether the assigned judge may be predisposed to rule against their client.

        • Barrustio

I they had, they would have done so already for the money they’re being paid. They obviously felt the any suggestion to that idea, would have the obvious effect that Trump’s comments are having…exposing him of obvious racism. The best thing he could have done is concentrate on Hillary and the Trump U case would fade into the background. By bringing attention to it he merely succeeded in giving Hillary ammunition…not to mention forced many who were coming or about to come on board, to abandon ship.

          • justinwachin

The Trump University court case is likely to continue through the judicial system regardless of Mr. Trump’s political adventures. Ignoring it isn’t going to cause it to go away. Since the case involves a presidential candidate it is going to get plenty of coverage in the news cycle every time something happens in the case.

Mr. Trump should have allowed his lawyers to make the case for a change in judges. That would have prevented the attention he has got with his remarks about the judge.

          • Barrustio

I agree that it will not go away and that it will get coverage but it really wasn’t in the forefront until Trump’s remarks.
You are also absolutely correct about the lawyers making the argument for him…if they had anything to base it on which they obviously felt they didn’t, forcing Trump to make the statements HE felt disqualified the job. It’s never a good idea to try to represent yourself.

  • donemyhomework

Bias is always a platform that judges use.

    • Tiberius Gracchus

You might make a case that judges bring their own philosophical biases to the table, but judges are always bound to follow the law, which includes both written and case law. Does one judge interpret the prior case or written law differently than another? Yes. You only have to look at the history of abortion and civil rights law to see that fact. Did Justice Scalia interpret the Constitution differently than his more liberal colleagues? For sure. But what you are seeing here with Trump is a deluge of red herrings. By that logic, I would ask every Catholic and Southern Baptist judge to recuse him/herself on any case dealing with abortion or school prayer, any Jewish judge to recuse themselves on any case involving the First Amendment rights of some white supremacist blowhard in the city square, or any white judge to recuse themselves when judging any case involving defendants of any other racial identity. At that point, you have thrown the Constitution into the toilet. I am always amazed at the numbskulls who pompously state how they are defending the Constitution, but rant until they are foaming at the mouth about how bad, corrupt, elitist the government is. You don’t like it? Then vote your mind. Did your candidate lose? It happens, get over it….suck it up and try again next election, but don’t go being a ranting crybaby because everyone else in this world doesn’t agree with you. I stopped playing with people like that when I left the sandbox at 4 years old, and now they’re running for President, for chrissakes.

      • Worried Vet

I agree with you some what. I don’t agree with you if these judges are liberal in any way. It’s a fact that liberals bend, break do whatever to win. They are loyal to the party no matter how wrong. Look at Hillary she lies, cheats and gives away secrets that could cause the deaths of Americans. They stick with her ,spin the truth and keep trying to get her elected. The difference is Trump don’t play the game as well as Clinton.

We should not kid ourselves- of course, Muslim judges are going to be guided by Sharia Lw. They will go with that. this is America – Sharia (aka) Muslim judges do not belong in our courts. Common sense; no discriminating. If you dare to do some discriminating thinking (look it up, in the dictionary), to make a discriminating decision (aka-judgment), you would know they are ‘spinning’ the words for their ’cause’. I don’t mind standing up & saying ‘No, thank you’.I love God & my country. I want to remain FREE —

    • Rodney Steward

Sharia DOES NOT work with our Constitution PERIOD! I wished this muslim BS was out of our country!

      • DOC

The black judges remember slavery and Jews think about the Holocaust. Is there any others?

        • Rodney Steward

Mexicans remember the Alamo both times!!

      • Naomi Lackey

I agree. Sharia should never have even become an issue, for America..

  • Bob

I wonder why Trump even considers answering these “gotcha” questions. The reporter obviously wanted an answer they could edit to make it look like Trump is a bigot. He answered a direct question with a direct answer: “Could a Judge who does not like what you say possibly be biased towards you in a court case”. The answer is obvious: “Yes”. However, it looks better for the media, which is in the tank for Hillary, to spin it their way. Ask Hillary is a Judge, appointed by Bush or Regan, could be biased against her and see her answer.

  • Barrustio

How about fat women judges…or just women? How about sound technicians.

    • Rodney Steward

Hey Barr, why are U getting so bent out of shape over this, maybe you and the Judge have something in common, and if so, maybe U now see what Trump is getting at! 🙂

      • Barrustio

What I see is a bunch of people getting bent out of shape and succumbing to innuendo because of what they have in common with Trump. I believe that Trump’s own words that he “could shoot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue and not lose any votes” is indicative of how confidant he is in the mindset of his sheeple.

        • Rodney Steward

At least it was a joke, and you know as well as I do that Hellary did do this with Benghazi, and blood of many others! She’s an Evil SOB!

          • Barrustio

As a Vietnam vet, my disdain for Hillary and her actions/inaction regarding Benghazi is immeasurable but I will not allow that to cloud my thinking or blur my vision for a better America. Trump needs to stop with the trivial BS, be a man a basically say that he has every confidence that in spite of past rulings, the judge will rule impartially and is willing to accept his ruling regardless of the consequences. THAT and being a bit more clear about issues regarding religious freedom will get more people like me to accept the thought that he just MIGHT be somewhat qualified for the post. I want a REAL man (not one qualified to use whichever bathroom “it” chooses) running the WH, not a whiner.

          • Rodney Steward

            I AGREE!!!!

  • Webb

Trump…Needs to stick to the Issues, not make others biased against him!
His goal should be to get Votes, not Give Them To Hillary by misstatements.
    #NeverEverHillary ☆☆☆

    • Bob

He answered a general question from a reporter with a general answer. He could have been asked if a Republican judge “might” be biased against him, but that probably wouldn’t have been the “gotcha” moment they wanted.

    • HadEnough

Webb, what’s wrong with you? Trump didn’t make these Unfair, Trump Hating Judges Biased. They were just Naturally Biased Against Him. And the Republicans (or anyone else) who can’t see that are just stupid blind Traitors. And you are not very much of a supporter by saying that Trump Made Them Biased. You’re a Traitor too.

      • Webb

” You’re a Traitor too.”, please don’t judge others for their opinion! My concern is Trump getting elected in Nov.2016 to stop Hillary…He must be more guarded with his comments! The Judge may be biased, but words matter!

      • I Seigel

“…Naturally Biased….”? I guess that’s proven now? No doubts? Say it enough times and it becomes the truth. Is that how it works? If I said, “Naturally you’re an idiot” enough times, I guess I will have proven it.

      • Tiberius Gracchus

A traitor under every rock, huh? You need to see your doctor about your chronic paranoia. One more disconnect and the guys in the white coats will be showing up. You know, you hate the President, you hate Congress, now you hate the Judicial system. Damn, I guess you’ve Had Enough of all three branches of government, yet you no doubt swear you love the Constitution….what do they call that, the Schizophrenic Trifecta? And everyone who doesn’t agree with you is a “traitor”? You sound like the Nazis in 1933. I can tell you this: even if Curiel recused himself, I can guarantee the next judge on the case would double-down on Trump for his prior actions which have bordered on judicial harassment. These are Federal judges we’re talking about, who are mandated by the Constitution to interpret the laws and judge cases. This is a Federal fraud case, and it’s proceeding as any similar case would be handled. Trump is just squirming like a stuck pig because the truth is coming out about what a sleazeball con man he is. But “stupid blind traitors” like yourself already swallowed the KoolAid, and no proof, no replays of Trump University TV ads on the nightly news will ever convince you that your tangerine boy toy is anything but the Second Coming. Hey, maybe I missed something here….you sure you’re not Slovenian?
