Trump says his judge attack is ‘misconstrued’

by Stephen Dinan  |  published on June 8, 2016

Donald Trump said Tuesday that his attack on a federal judge is being “misconstrued,” insisting it’s not an attack on all Mexicans, as he sought to tamp down on the first major crisis of his post-primary campaign.

The billionaire businessman also offered up his Mexicans and Hispanic friends and employees as evidence he’s not intending to disparage all Latinos with his attack on the judge.

Mr. Trump said judges should be impartial but the rulings he’s seen from Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who’s overseeing cases against the GOP presidential candidate’s Trump University, call into question whether Mr. Trump is getting a fair trial.

And Mr. Trump said the press has likewise been distorting the facts of the case, adding to the unfair treatment.

  • GATORLAND

My response to lkfeinb Fed Judge Gonzalo Curiel is an activist and is a member of the pro illegal immigrants advocates. He should recuse himself . Mr. Trump could have stated his opinion of this Judge with diplomacy so the left progressives and some delicate Republicans would not be sooooo offended in this forget the first amendment ever was written citizens. At least Mr. Trump knows when the deck is stacked against him. Mr. Stonelake you are very correct no matter what Clinton has done their is silence from the MSM. I will gladly take Trump as he is, Maybe I should have not ended my sentence with is as I do not know the meaning of is.

  • Mimi

Trump is right on this, however should have had the judge replaced through the proper legal channels – too bad it became a topic….they will try anything to destroy our favorite and only no-nonsense – proud citizen of the U.S., sacrificing his time to try to save our country. Nothing as vile as career politicians who want to stay on the gravy train until death…. my tax dollars at work.

  • eddie

Mr. stone lake you are so right timing is everything!! its so sad that most Americans side with the liberal media and they don’t investigate the facts about obama & hillary …Mr. Trump has a uphill battle! we need to join together and Pray that he WINS the ELECTION for POTUS…..e

  • CharlieSeattle

    Ya! Trump screwed up………….again!

U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s Mexican heritage is …….IRRELEVANT!

Trump should have called out the Judge for his “La Raza” membership and bias, NOT for being Hispanic. That was very dumb!

The article failed to do DUE DILIGENCE and mention this…

United States District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, the man presiding over the class-action lawsuit against Trump University, is a member of the La Raza Lawyers of San Diego and oversaw the gift of a law school scholarship to an illegal alien.

    dailycaller. com/2016/06/01/judge-presiding-over-trump-university-case-is-member-of-la-raza-lawyers-group/

In his 2011 judicial questionnaire to become a federal judge, Curiel revealed his history with La Raza. GotNews. com originally reported this Tuesday, and The Daily Caller has independently verified.

Curiel lists “La Raza Lawyers of San Diego” as a legal association he has been a part of in the questionnaire. Curiel’s office at the United States District Court for the Southern District of California confirmed to The DC the judge’s membership in the group.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    “La Raza” is not a ethnic group. It is a racist separatist group.
    So yes, the Judge should “Recuse” himself for the same reason Pro-Nazi Judges were not allowed at the Nuremberg trials!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    La Raza’s” agenda!

    Radical ‘Reconquista’ Agenda

    humanevents. com/2006/04/07/emexclusive-emthe-truth-about-la-raza/

Behind the respectable front of the National Council of La Raza lies the real agenda of the La Raza movement, the agenda that led to those thousands of illegal immigrants in the streets of American cities, waving Mexican flags, brazenly defying our laws, and demanding concessions.

Key among the secondary organizations is the radical racist group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.

One of America’s greatest strengths has always been taking in immigrants from cultures around the world, and assimilating them into our country as Americans. By being citizens of the U.S. we are Americans first, and only, in our national loyalties.

This is totally opposed by MEChA for the hordes of illegal immigrants pouring across our borders, to whom they say:

“Chicano is our identity; it defines who we are as people. It rejects the notion that we…should assimilate into the Anglo-American melting pot…Aztlan was the legendary homeland of the Aztecas … It became synonymous with the vast territories of the Southwest, brutally stolen from a Mexican people marginalized and betrayed by the hostile custodians of the Manifest Destiny.” (Statement on University of Oregon MEChA Website, Jan. 3, 2006)

MEChA isn’t at all shy about their goals, or their views of other races. Their founding principles are contained in these words in “El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan” (The Spiritual Plan for Aztlan):

“In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal gringo invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny. … Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. … We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlan. For La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada.”

That closing two-sentence motto is chilling to everyone who values equal rights for all. It says: “For The Race everything. Outside The Race, nothing.”

  • justinwachin

Trump’s complaint isn’t unusual. A competent defense team is going to look at the judge and try to determine whether they think the judge is likely to have a bias that would harm their client’s chances in court.

If Hillary Clinton gets indicted her defense lawyer will raise a complaint if her case gets assigned to a conservative Christian judge.

  • Lkfeinb

This is about the Republican Party and Donald Trump being fatally flawed. A New Republican Party needs to be formed without the Donald Trumps and Sarah Palins. The party has been hi jacked. It is party over country. Very sad.

    • bobnstuff

It would be nice to have my party back.

  • Bob

Typical of the Clintons: One set of rules/behaviors for them and a different set for the rest of us. During the Impeachment Hearings, all we heard about was how unfair Judge Ken Starr was being towards the Impeached President because he was appointed by the Republicans. Come to find out, Impeached President Clinton had to admit that Starr was correct in court and was given the typical slap on the wrist associated with folks like him. Now, in answer to a direct question, Mr Trump states that he feels some judges COULD be biased against him based on his stated opinions, and the Impeached President says you should not question the impartiality of a judge. So the question is: Why the double standard? If he was right to question Judge Starr, then should not the same consideration be given to Mr Trump to question Judge Gonzalo Curiel?

    • bobnstuff

Bill Clinton said he didn’t have sex with a girl, not rape just sex and got impeached for it. Trump ripped off people, lots of people for money. A judge responds to a freedom of information case that releases facts that Trump didn’t want out but were in fact mostly already out but the judge is being unfair because his parents are from Mexico. Trump didn’t even bother to ask for a change of venue, he just attacked the judge in the media. Just who believes rules are for others but not for him?

      • Bob

I know it is beneath most Libs to watch an entire interview when watching the selected clip that supports their biases is so much easier, you should have watch where Mr Trump is accused of accusing Impeached President Clinton of rape. He was speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox (I know, your cable system, doesn’t get Fox) and they were discussing the various allegations made against Disgraced President Clinton. There was an allegation of rape, and Mr Trump mentioned it in the course of a list of allegations that had been made. It was showing how Hillary would do anything against any WOMAN who dared to speak the truth against them.
And I bet you also believed the now discredited NYT article about Trump and women, how he abuses them. Nothing about how Bill treated women, just Trump. And it was also A LIE!!

BTW – Have you seem the recent stories about how the “Clinton Foundation” is being investigated over financial improprieties, including illegal donations from overseas moved to the Clinton Election campaign? You may not if all you listen to is MS-DNC

  • James Maxwell

Considering the revelations on the Judges background and his affiliation with
LaRaza and LaRaza unitodos I agree that he should recluse himself from
any legal matters concerning Trump. The Judge has been known to give
scolarships to Criminal Invaders against our laws which means he has
knowingly broken our legal system and scoffed at our laws. This should
be grounds for disbarment from the Legal Profession. The only problem
I have with what Trump said was he did not speak to this matter when
asking for a different judge in his case.

    • Lkfeinb

OK. Lets say what you say is true. There is a legal way to recuse a judge. You don’t do it through the media because you are miffed that the judge is going forward with the case. However this judge is a hero. He prosecuted Mexican Drug cartels and got death threats for doing so. Legally, I don’t believe, the legal system would agree to do that.

      • James Maxwell

Go to the Judges website and you will find a link to La Raza and the National La Raza site along with the Militant La
Raza unitos which want to kill Anglos and take back the
Southern United States into Mexico to form the Xetan (?)
state. He is corrupt, left wing anti American liberal who
does not like nor support the Untied States.
Trump is exercising his rights as any American Citizen to
request a change of Venue/Judge in his case based upon the
judges actions in the past and his associations with Terrorist
groups. Any one who associates with any group that promotes and encourages the kill of American Citizen is a terrorist and
        should be treated as such.

  • Robert Mix

Typical of the libtard media and the spineless Republicans to misconstrue Trump’s remarks. He makes a good point. He’s just objecting to a judge who could be prejudiced and who should recuse himself from the case. But our media blows it all out of proportion.

    • bobnstuff

He is objecting to a judge in the media but not in court, he has filed no motions for change of venue. He had no problems with the judge until he found against him. Trump says things with out thinking and then tries to take them back, or saying he is being misunderstood. His remarks are on the record, everything he says is recorded so he can’t change things after they have been said but he still tries. His followers are willing to believe that he is being misunderstood but when you check the facts he just tries to unsay things. Why does he believe he can do this?

      • Rodney Steward

And Obama gets a free ride on everything, like Hellary!

      • Son Shine

Isn’t it funny, Hillary can get by with anything, murder, lying, stealing, putting our country in distruction and its OK, but let Trump say one thing out of line they are ready to hang him. And I forgot, Bill and all of his sins.

        • bobnstuff

Trump ripped people off and is being taken to court over it. The evidence is there for you to see. He bought two AG’s in other states but could buy the one in California so now he is in court. This isn’t some made up scandal like most of the ones against Hillary. The truly stupid thing is Trump could have not had a problem if he would have cut his loses three years ago when this all started. It still wouldn’t have been as big a problem had he let his lawyers do their job and kept his mouth shout but instead of doing the smart thing he had to open his mouth.

          • KKmoderate

Do all of you line up early in the morning for your Dixie cup full of Koolaid? ” This isn’t some made-up scandal like most of the the ones against Hillary?” I’m absolutely speechless that anyone can sweep away her agregious deeds of 3 decades with a statement like that.
Does your logic not even acknowledge that Trump doesn’t need the paltry sums the University tuitions would have brought in?

          • bobnstuff

If he didn’t need the money, why did he steal it? Why is he ripping of the people that do work for him? Why does he rip off supplier like Sysco for $750,000? It’s not the money it the fact that he can and that makes him think he is smarter then everyone else.

        • Lkfeinb

IT WAS RACIST!!!! WE CANNOT ALLOW HATE TO TAKE OVER. EVEN THE REPUBLICANS DISAVOWED IT AND LABELED IT RACISM. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HILLARY.

          • bg9g1

lol, no, it was not racist, but you go right ahead and scream it from the rooftops, it still won’t make it so..

          • Lkfeinb

A bigot would never classify himself as a bigot or recognize bigotry for what it is. So what are you?

          • bg9g1

            just a wee example:

            “If anyone’s a racist > it’s

there’s much more, do some research, save your

will be a victory for all of US.. 🙂

        • Lkfeinb

Hillary has her problems, but an anti american comment like this is unforgivable and inexcusable. Dont compare the two. Even if he weren’t running for President he should be brought down for this.

          • bg9g1

they SPIN you DRINK THE KOOLAID

both the Dem & Rep elites are in bed together, have been for quite a while now.. they don’t want America to be great again, they want to remain POWERFUL & RICH ala the Grasshoppers & ants is about the best example of their ultimate goal.. and from the looks of it, they shouldn’t have too hard a time, well, unless Trump is elected by “we the people” vs selected ala Obama & Clinton via their “rigged” political machine..

          • Lkfeinb

We are great! We are the best in the world NOW! We can always get better by fixing what is wrong and not throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

That’s it? Hillary has her problems??? There’s just no sport in responding to you any more. You dismiss the elephant in the living room and focus on the speck of dust in the corner?????? Painful.

    • Lkfeinb

Misconstruing? It was clear as a bell to everyone but Trump apologists.

  • GATORLAND

Mr. Trump calls a judge born in Indiana of Mexican heritage a Mexican my goodness stop the world how bigoted a statement in this politically correct nation that one is not to speak about religion, illegals, LGBT, open boarders and bathrooms, etc. He gave a very reasonable explanation why he thought this judge was not fair… I am sick and tired of the Establishment, the Elites and this administration attempting to make people sheep to follow the leaders even as they seem to be a Godless bunch and adore at the altar of political correctness. I sincerely believe political correctness muzzles people from stating their thoughts and beliefs and PC is nothing but bull excrement.

    • SDofAZ

Mexican heritage, la raza member, and only second generation. Daddy was a wetback. Appointed to position by BO. Of course he is prejudice, for the illegal edicts of this administration. Fed up with the pundits like Rat Ryan and McConnell too. Both are rinos who should belong in the dem party. Neither are conservatives and both are good old go along get along good old boys. And both ran their mouths negatively about the position Trump took with a judge who has an obvious conflict with his position as judge in this lawsuit. Just like the friend attorney of Hillary who filed it. Don’t we all see this is such a staged event?

      Good points Gator.

    • Son Shine

      You are 100% correct.
Obama and all the rest can call us everything and no one notices that. Shows how bad they have allowed our country fall.
Only God can help us and I think he has chosen The Trump.
      Pray

    • Lkfeinb

Trump is attacking the entire judicial system because this judge, who is considered a hero by the way, is letting a case against a spoiled brat continue. Did he rule against him yet? NO Is Trump above the law? He is attacking a judge who ethically cannot answer the attacks. How dense are you that you cannot see what he is doing? Even the heads of the Republican party are disgusted. How far would you get if you thought a judge was biased against you? He is a whiner and an infant and can NEVER be president of this country!!.

    • richardwfaith

Political SO-CALLED “correctness” was invented by Marxists for the benefit of Marxism. That constitutes the very best of all possible reasons why its imperatives should be ostentatiously disobeyed at every turn!

    • Lkfeinb

No , political correctness cuts down on irrational prejudice. Words have consequences.

  • richardwfaith

Remember the three-horned beast, Triceratops? These are the names of its horns: Democrat Party, Republican Party, and Media. The Beast itself is the Globalist CABAL. The horns don’t care a fig about each other, but the Beast uses all three of them to ensure its own survival. Trump, on the other hand, is a threat to all three horns, and to the Beast itself. Personally, I hope that Trump slays the beast, leaving it and all three of its horns rotting in the dirt.

    • bobnstuff

What would be more refreshing is if he would think before he spoke. As a private citizen he can speak his mind and it makes no real deference but when running for the highest office in the land his words have consequences far beyond the moment and need careful consideration. Trump just says what comes into his head with out thinking.

      • Rodney Steward

That’s what people like, he’s not a machine of the system, and PC is out the window!!!!

        • bobnstuff

So you will be OK when Trump says something that crashes the stock market or starts a war because he didn’t think before he spoke. The words of the President of the United States of America have vast powers and are you really ready to have a loose cannon in the offices?

Questionable speaking? Questionable speaking? When you are speaking on the national stage it has dire consequences. Violence, racism hate etc. He has approved it all! Words have consequences. Where are you coming from?

          • KKmoderate

Yes I see what you mean. I’ve noticed how words have consequences, I believe you mention violence, racism and hate as outgrowth of speaking on a national stage. In fact I’ve been privy to those very consequences for 7 years as a result of Barack Obama’s very public responses on dozens of occasions.
Where I’m coming from, you ask? Isn’t that outspokenness then the norm now??? The saying goes “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander”. I just happen to admire Trump’s positions more than Obama’s.
I also respect your right to admire differently, I just don’t feel the need to call you out for it.

      • Phannesa

Common sense is not perceived anymore by many people who are brainwashed. Trump says it as it really is. PC people don’t like that. Trump is a master chess player, he sees ahead several moves. When he says something, we get the real picture that the MSM and PC fascists try to change or cover up!!

        • bobnstuff

Trump doesn’t think ahead, never has. He has blown a number of deals in the past for that very reason. I don’t take any media outlets word for things I watch the tape and see what has been said. Trump puts his foot in his mouth time and time again and has for as far back as I have watched him. It’s one thing not to be PC but it’s a whole other thing to keep trying to change what you have said or try to say that you never said something that’s on tape. Watch the tape were he said that he would sleep with his daughter. Look at his daughters reaction. Trump gets carried away when he talks and goes to far plus he is real easy to trap into saying things with out thinking things through.

          • Retired

Are you that blind that the media twists everything and Trump is playing them like a fiddle ? Do you rely want 8 more years of what Bill and Obama have done to morally destroy the USA ?

          • bobnstuff

I spend more time the Trumps worth checking out what he really say and if anything the media is being nice to him. If I do as well in the next eight years as I have in the last eight then bring it on. My 401K is back and I can get insurance for my wife without going through my employer. I’m doing fine, sorry if you aren’t.

          • Retired

Maybe you should spend more time looking into the Clintons. You will never recover what you lost on the 401K and once you start drawing there will be another hit .

          • bobnstuff

The hit is very small and once I figure my tax savings by putting it in it.s next to nothing, Plus only half the money came from me, matching from my employer is nice. I have spent a lot of time looking into Clinton and she may not be great she is sure a lot better the Trump.

          • Retired

You like and support the selfish Clintons going back to their college days. They are business as usual.

          • bobnstuff

Have you looked at Trumps history. I’m not a big Clinton supporter but at least she can remember what she has said from day to day or even hour to hour. I bet she even read her own web page and knows what she stands for.

          • Retired

The big thing for being against Clinton is in 4 years she could appoint 3-4 to the Supreme Court and that would bring our Constitution down on its KNEES.

          • bobnstuff

Trump would after appointing his sister sell off the other sets to the highest bidder. Do I need to remind you that Trump is not a conservative,

          • Lkfeinb

You are so right. You don’t know what you would get. He is a loose canon.

          • Lkfeinb

Most people are much better off than they were 8 years ago and 90 percent of the population have health insurance. That alone is a miracle!

          • Lkfeinb

If you can get Elizabeth Warren’s speech from tonight on utube it is worth listening to.

          • Lkfeinb

Yes I do. We had the best economy under Clinton and he balanced the budget. I’d go for that again.

          • richardwfaith

bilL klintoN achieved much of the “balancing” that you allege by gutting our military.

          • Retired

That is why so many factories closed under Clinton and many over 50 lost their jobs and benefit package while Clinton was in office ? Retirement Plans { 401k ] also took a dive while Clinton was in office.

        • Lkfeinb

No. Trump says it as HE sees it. If anyone is against him it is “unfair”. What a child. At what age do children actually get over that. Trump is stuck as an infant.

        • Lkfeinb

No, Trump says it as HE thinks it really is. Thank goodness he is wrong.

    • Lkfeinb

Not refreshing-stupid!. Watch. From here on out he WILL speak with the teleprompter.

      • KKmoderate

We can only hope he will. I have no argument with the theory that public speaking in this arena should be done with forethought.

    • Lkfeinb

It’s not a “gaffe” it is a disgusting comment about a respected American Judge, a hero, and the fairness of the Judicial system.

      • KKmoderate

Yes “gaffe” it’s a superlative word in this instance. I’m sure it’s a new one for you as your vocabulary seems to be limited to vulgar name calling. You are so full of judgemental adjectives; “disgusting”. You pepper your comments with personal and unconfirmed bias; ” respected judge”, “hero”. I suggest you do a little more research and a little less talking, you might learn something in the process.
There are some facts about this judge, his affiliations, his actions, his political perspective that justify skepticism with respect to this case.
As to the “fairness of the Judicial system” ; have you been living in a bubble your entire life? That fairness is a myth for anyone of any persuasion or background, I’d advise you to temper your outbursts with such ridiculous premises .

        • Lkfeinb

Really? I am well aware of the two judicial systems in this country. One for the wealthy and one for the poor. Trump has the best attorneys money can buy. If OJ could get away with murder, Trump can beat this case without dishonoring the judge.

  • Joseph Stonelake

This is all about trying to destroy Donald Trump! The timing says it all! At least he is not a corrupt Politician like Clinton! This is all they got to hurt Trump yet the media never exposes Hillary’s misdeeds! Did you ever wonder what the real agenda is here? It does not take a rocket scientist!

    • Candice White

We can see that because you obviously aren’t one.

      • bg9g1

        and you are?

        • SDofAZ

Wow. Just wow. Do you think Trump knows about all of this? I mean ALL of it? He needs to memorize everything in these articles and USE it !!! Somehow, we have to stop all this evil corruption!

          • bg9g1

oh, i’m sure he knows, believe they also know
he knows, he’s just not going to play it their way..

            Trump is old school..

he’s going to consistently give them
just enough rope to hang themselves..

and so far, i can’t see anything they’ve spun about

          • Elaine

You’re right. He’s both clever and brilliant. I just get so mad when I read this stuff!

          • bg9g1

believe me, i know the feeling..

we realty should call them the Goebbels media..
            http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/goebbelslie.html

but hey, they don’t realize it doesn’t work on most of us because the elders outnumber the juniors. well, at voting anyways..once they grow up, they too will be amazed at how stupid they were, i know i was, and that wasn’t until 9/11, shame on me for believing for so long.. *sigh*

          • Elaine

That Goebbels quote is the essence of the Democrat party and the media!!! Grrrrrrrr!
Way back when I was a senior in college, the voting age was changed from 21 to 18. Had I actually registered to vote, I would have voted for Nixon in ’72. The college was in a different city than my home town, so for some reason, I didn’t register. Anyway, I was the lone Nixon supporter amidst a horde of avid, voracious McGovern fans. Wow, talk about finding out who your real friends are(n’t) !! So, I guess I’m a dyed-in-the-wool conservative. But, it’s always a good thing when people become enlightened … no matter when, how or why!

          • Lkfeinb

OK, so you voted for Nixon. Even now you don’t acknowledge that mistake?

          • Elaine

I guess you don’t read very well …. I wasn’t registered to vote at the time, but I would have voted for him in a heartbeat. He was a brilliant man and a stellar economist. He also got us out of Vietnam, after Johnson made sure the war dragged on and on and on. He had our troops hamstrung to the point that they couldn’t even defend themselves. Nixon removed those idiotic restrictions in very short order. And, if you’re referring to Watergate … well, that’s like an afternoon at Kiddieland compared to the deliberate and calculated wrongdoings of Hillary Clinton. If Nixon were still alive, I’d support him to this day.

          • Lkfeinb

It takes all kinds to support a nasty vindictive prejudiced person like Nixon. His tapes showed his true character. Yes he did some good things (China), but Watergate was criminal and he resigned before he could be impeached.

    • KKmoderate

I’m back to yours, this comment you posted 4 hrs ago. Do you think it’s worth considering that we’re all focusing on the candidates and arguing about who said what and has done the most evil? In so being distracted we might be missing the real threat? NWO ( new world order ) is driving global decisions and our current POTUS has been courting them since Norway!

    • CharlieSeattle

Lol, Trump is working to disqualify himself in ways even his enemies did not think is possible.

      • Lkfeinb

Right. Replying to pro trump posts is rediculous and a waste of time because he will just self destruct.

    • Lkfeinb

      Donald Trump is destroying himself.

      • richardwfaith

Wishful thinking on your part. Move along, folks; nothing to see here.
