Trump unleashes on Cruz, threatens eligibility lawsuit over alleged ‘lies’

by  |  published on February 16, 2016

Donald Trump dramatically escalated his feud with rival Ted Cruz on Monday, threatening to sue the Texas senator over his eligibility for office if he does not retract alleged “lies” about Trump’s positions – and calling on the Republican National Committee to intervene on two fronts.

The billionaire businessman wants the RNC to pressure Cruz, and also stop allowing so many donors at the debates. If the RNC does not “get its act together,” Trump warned, they would be violating the “pledge” he signed to support the eventual GOP nominee.

While dragging the RNC into the fray, Trump’s already-nasty and personal feud with Cruz was hitting an unprecedented level. At a press conference and in a written statement, Trump demanded Cruz apologize for allegedly false statements about him – or he’ll follow through on threats to challenge in court the Canada-born senator’s eligibility to run.

“He doesn’t even have the right to serve as president, or even run as president. He was born in Canada. So I will bring that lawsuit if he doesn’t apologize,” Trump told reporters at a press conference.

Simultaneously, his campaign issued a statement detailing Cruz’s allegedly false statements about his positions on abortion, ObamaCare and more.

Well, I support Donald J. Trump. I believe, that he is the best candidate, to undue the damage, after 8 years of BO. However, I will support whom ever, gets the GOP nomination, for the POTUS, Please, we must support our candidate. If another Dem gets in, we are screwed!

Trump is doing what business people do take you to court. Why did Trump say something when he ran for any office. Sour grapes sound like to me.

  • Nick

Cruz was born in 1970. At that time, the U.S. did do have any laws or agreements on the books for U.S. workers in Canada. It wasn’t until 1986 when a law was put into place for military families being stationed overseas that their children would be natural born U.S. citizens. The law does not grandfather previous children that were born before 1986. Those children were naturalized and had to get a green card before coming back to the U.S. If Cruz was born in 1986, there wouldn’t be any argument except that he would be to young to run for president. This is a big mess and it is probably Mr. Trumps bases for his argument and for the democrats.

  • rowleya

Cruz only candidate I’ll vote for Prez.
If he is not on Ballot it is Time To Secede

    • WRBuchanan

So you will like President Hillary?
Your Principals DO NOT Supersede the good of the country.
      Act Right!

    • Daniel Brofford

Please don’t say Roselyn I don’t like bush but I would vote for him if he is the nominee. I know that we don’t really know what kind of president trump would be but we know for a fact what type of president that the democrats would be so we have to vote republican if for no other reason then to slow it down until we can get othe people in there.

  • It appears Donald Trump may have seen a world he cannot buy; individuals with character. Trump is acting more like a child.

    • WRBuchanan

      Refer to my comments above.

Donald Trump registered as a Republican for the first time as a 41 year old in 1987. Twelve years later, in 1999, Trump walked away from the GOP to run as a candidate for the Independence Party. Then in 2001 Trump’s liberal sensibilities (remember he was “still” pro-choice, anti-gun and for higher taxes in 2001) drove him to register as a Democrat. It wasn’t until 2009 that Trump changed his mind again (YES – Donald Trump was a Democrat as recently as 2009!), and registered as a Republican… again.

    • WRBuchanan

Grow up dude. He’s a NRA Life Member as are both his sons who I’ve seen hunting on TV.
      Democrats don’t hunt!

      • Webb

Growing up Dude, is exactly my intention by Voting for Cruz..

  • Gunflint Roseberg

Its too late for a lawsuit. Cruz has been an American Senator for how long now ? Has voted on many key issues ? That could make all those votes null & Void by default ? America is not going there Trump, suck it up & move on.
America will decide who will be best Candidate.

    • Peter Smith

Nope, “natural born cotizen” does not apply to Congress. I believe Ted Cruz is eligible and Trump and the Trumpayeers can go suck -ss! Just saying ……..

      • byron garretson

Where is Cruz’s Mother, is she really American? Did she take out Canadian citizenship and give up her American citizen ship? Was she married to Cruz senior when the baby was born?

        • Peter Smith

Where Cruz’s mother is at this time is not pertinent to the discussion. Her Birth Certificate (Delaware) is a matter of public record as is the Birth Certificate of Ted Cruz. As far as I can tell, she lived in Canada for three years working in the petroleum industry. Do YOU have documentation of her relinquishing her American birth right citizenship? Parents being married at the time of birth has NEVER been a NBC requirement. However, yes, they were married and later divorced in Houston, TX. Otherwise, there would be many thousands of children every year that could never claim NBC. NEXT!

          • byron garretson

No I don’t ; Just asking? Can you answer my questions? Didn’t think so………………..

          • Peter Smith

Didn’t answer your questions? Did you read the response? I don’t think so.
Where Ted’s mother is now is irrelevent. According to her Delaware Birth Certificate, she is an American citizen.
No, she never gave up her American citizenship and she is not a Canadian citizen.
According to public records, she was married at the time of Ted’s birth, although they divorced after the family relocated to Houston, TX.
If you had read the initial response, you’d already know this. So, did you READ the initial response, all of it? I didn’t think so ……

          • byron garretson

Assume you have copies of the records you quote. And you don’t know where the lady is. Interesting, not relevant to you I guess. I have seen the father. Wow! What a guy! Would like to see the mother and see her give an interview. Not an interview by you. But by someone who would ask questions about her life with Senor Crus and junior Crus, and her citizenship, etc etc. A lot more about her should be known.

          • Peter Smith

They’re. PUBLIC RECORD Byron! Look them up for yourself. I don’t need to know where the mother of Ted Cruz is Byron. It is none of my business and none of your as well. I don’t recall any interviews of the mothers of Obama, Climton, the younger Bush, Nixon, carter, etc., so why now Byron? Rafael CRUZ and Ted CRUZ have plenty written about them, go ahead and start looking Byron. They were only married for 5 or 6 years, that is known. There is a Delaware Birth Certificate that anyone may observe. I guess that is too easy for one of your intellect (or lack there of) and your questioning (add clueless as well) mind.
Why is she so important to you Byron? She’s not running for office. Tell me when you’re going to talking and thinking for yourself instead of being a Trumpateer Puppet. I’m assuming Donald removed his rings and wrist watch before sticking his hand and arm up your -ss to pull your strings, ……

          • byron garretson

FYI, I am not a Trump fan.
But there is a lot of suspicion in my mind about Cruz, and yes, I don’t like him. You like Cruz sr?
Can you prove they were married when jr was born? I doubt it. Does the Mother like jr. No sign one way or the other. I don’t know how long they were married, and I have looked on the internet for info on the Cruz mother and father – not much there.

          • Peter Smith

You obviously don’t know him because of your suspicions. You don’t like him him and yet you don’t know him. Curious.
Yes, I do like Ted Cruz. He is my Senator from Texas. I voted for him then as well. He is a Christian Conservative and a staunch Constitutionalist. He is intelligent, well spoken, and the only true Conservative left in the GOP field. One may not like what he has to say, but it will be the truth.
Prove they were married? Legitimacy or illegitimacy is not a criteria for “natural born citizen” status. So the information is irrelevent to the discussion. That being said, here goes nothing. Wasn’t invited to the wedding, so I’ll have to take the word of several different news sources. Information I have is married in 1969 and divorced in 1997. And yes, this information is on the Internet.
The fact that there might be little on the Internet is meaningless. The parental information of the last 10 presidents is also sparse, and yet they still got the votes and performed the job as POTUS. Once again, curious.

  • sargentrage

Trump is starting to sound like a cry baby, or a spoiled brat, he’s turning into some body that I would not vote for.
I cannot vote demo. because they got people that are running that scares the crap out of me. So I don’t know whom to vote for

    • josebear5

Vote for Cruz at least he stands up for you.

      • Dennis

Yeah & all the illegal aliens will get “LEGALIZED”!

        • josebear5

Well it clear that you don’t know what you are talking about.

    • WRBuchanan

Sarge:: time for all the people who couldn’t vote for Trump to decide if they are going to support the Republican Nominee, whom ever that is, or not?.

If your ‘Prinicpals’ won’t allow you to vote for him then I submit you are not a Republican but a Spoiled Brat!

You’re either with us or against us. If you’re against us then,,, you by definition you are a Liberal Democrat!

I personally am sick of all the BS being spewed by all the establishment types and Pundits, that he is not Electable, he is not Presidential, he uses Foul Language etc. ad nauseum!

He’s the only one that can’t be bought! and since money is the biggest problem with Politics That one issue should be enough for anyone who actually gives a shit about this election to vote for him..

The Republican Establishment is so afraid of Trump it is pathetic! And the sole reason is that they can’t control him. No one else running can say that. They all say they’re Experienced and can work with Congress, and Blah, Blah, Blah. But they are part of the problem to begin with. And electing one of them ain’t gonna fix anything! Not voting and electing Hildegard is worse. And you probably couldn’t vote for Romney either, which helped put us in the situation we’re in right now.

But what really needs to happen here is all of us need to get behind the Front Runner, now not later!

The Democrats won’t even call Hillary a Friggin’ Liar! Pretty obvious to anyone who has his head above ground that she is. Why do you think people are “feelin’ the Bern?” Has nothing to do with him and everything to do with not wanting her!

So here’s my take on this whole, “I can’t vote for him because he’s not conservative enough for me or Insert Reason______ here!.”
You need to shut up, and do your Civic Duty and vote for the candidate of the Republican Party.

Otherwise you aren’t a Republican at all !!!

We will call you a “Libtard” too !!!

    • DOC

He always sound that way. Like when he said if they don’t treat me fair I won’t play. Don’t ask me hard questions. REALLY

    • Mike N

Vote for Cruz. He is the real deal. He is the only one that said he would get rid of the RFS and ethanol mandate and all subsidies. Trump says that he favors ethanol which is a big government mandate. No true conservative would support the ethanol mandate.
