‘Intentionally deceptive’ Justice Dept. lawyers ordered to take ethics classes

by Stephen Dinan  |  published on May 20, 2016

A federal judge ordered the Justice Department to send its lawyers back to remedial ethics classes Thursday after finding that the administration repeatedly misled the court in the high-profile challenge to President Obama’s deportation amnesty.

Judge Andrew S. Hanen said the lawyers knew the administration was approving amnesty applications but actively hid that information both from him and from the 26 states that had sued to stop the amnesty.

Worse yet, even after the court ordered a halt to the whole amnesty, the Department of Homeland Security approved several thousand more applications, in defiance of the court’s strict admonition, Judge Hanen said, counting at least four separate times the government’s attorneys misled him.

He even quoted from the scene in “Miracle on 34th Street” when the boy is called to testify to Santa’s existence and says everyone knows not to tell a lie to the court. Judge Hanen said the Justice Department lawyers have an even stricter duty: Tell the truth, don’t mislead the court and don’t allow it to be misled by others.

This behavior at these levels is so disturbing.

Attorneys for the State of RI are MANDATED to take classes annually for CLE credit — 10 credits of coursework (~10 hrs) and 2 credits in ethics (~2 hrs). Reporting of credits must be sent to the bar association no later than June 30th every year. If you’re late (after June 30) you are fined; if you don’t file at all, you can lose your license. Evidently, government attorneys aren’t held to the same bar as those attorneys they’re trying to screw over!!!!

The trashy lawyer at the top of this pile of shi* is the reason they all lie. He has gotten away with this for nearly eight years. Blame the dem wit dem lemmings and the rinos in the GOP for this mess as well. Vote em out.

Lying and being deceptive is a chatterer flaw and cannot be corrected by ethics classes, these people should be arrested and tried for contempt and perjury. If found guilty then disbarment and jail time is the only way to correct further behavior..

    • SDofAZ

      So true Luke.

Evidently, government attorneys aren’t held to the same bar as attorneys in private practice. As noted, RI attorneys are MANDATED to take ethics courses as well as an additional 10 hours in general legal coursework. With that said, if the attorney makes ethical mistakes such as the DOJ attorneys, (a) the court finding they hadn’t taken ethics courses is enough to put them on hold, not allowing them to practice until the courses are taken; (b) if they took the ethics courses and still acted unethically, the chit will hit the fan and they may never be able to practice again. Just goes to show you that private practice attorneys have more scruples than Obama’s team!!!

Add fines and restitution to that disbarment and make it real prison instead of jail, not club fed prison either!

  • mesmith

Why does no one have the balls to put these bastards in jail.

    • AmericanBelle

Because during his tenure, any action taken (or tried to be taken) against his administration would find the accuser being kicked to the ground and disciplined one way or another. But now that the lame duck has only half a year left, judges, states, and people are taking full advantage and going after the dimwit. Not because they suddenly grew a pair, but now there’s not enough time left for the WH dimwit to go after them. Voting laws, abortion, discrimination claims…these are all being re/ajudicated now that the clock is running out and no reasonable means of being sanctioned. Hoorah!

      • mesmith

But still, there is not really any substantial pushback. Only token slaps on the wrist, like this judge did that will not do anything substantial. By all rights, several people, maybe even dozens, should be going to jail, if there was any justice.

        • AmericanBelle

Again, you’re missing the point of this entire corrupt administration….people could NOT fight back. Obama controls everything, including the DoJ. Look how he controlled conservative lobbies and businesses in the last election by using the IRS to thwart all efforts to do business! Can you name one single black person who has been sanctioned by this administration for any reason whatsoever? But a clerk can refuse to write out a gay marriage license and she gets sent to jail. He wields his power to levels of abuse never seen before. Even the military has seen the loss of numerous generals who disagreed with Obama’s policies and they were forced out of the military, many even losing their pensions! And look at Gen. Petreus…he had emails on his computer and was decommissioned with the administration suggesting he should lose his rank and pension! Yet Hillary can defy all regulations and have her own personal server, sharing top secret emails with her friends, and not get touched! And we KNOW her emails have been hacked (top secret emails) by numerous countries, and still, no hint of sanctions. Compared to Petreus’ actions, she should be hanged, quartered and disembowled, yet he’s sanctioned and she’s running for president! Any other administration would have held back on so much corruption because they at least had a level of conscience that told them they were wrong. But Obama has no conscience, he hates our country and our laws, and he can’t stand white people. He’s destroyed the middle class, his policies both domestic and foreign are epic failures, and he has turned the Middle East into an explosive world power ready to destroy western civilization! Our only hope is to get through the next six months without further damage by this miscreant.

I just have one question. What would happen to an ordinary citizen if they lied to such an extent to a federal court?

    • Gnowark

Probably appointed to an obamao cabinet post, if not, then jailed as “an example” to those who might disagree.

    • AmericanBelle

The problem here is that ordinary citizens aren’t on the same plane as the president and his administration. And with the president supporting his people, he’s able to go after anyone who tries to stop him…he can pull out executive privilege, write executive orders, or even set the IRS to audit or otherwise destroy you. One thing I’ve learned with this administration is that the corruption is beyond anything ever seen, and the abuse of power is a tool Obama uses widely and without recourse.

      • Gnowark

He DID promise a transparent administration, and I have to admit, obamao OPENLY violates the Constitution, but his impunity I blame on the Congress for not throwing his butt out.

  • CCblogging

No surprise here. The Obama regime is Satanic.

  • Jerry

I would say that charges should be filed against those crooked bastards, if it was you or I that went against judges orders we would go to jail on contempt charges if you or I lied to the court we would be charged with perjury, I think we should demand justice

    • Gnowark

I think that is what disbarment is used for, in ADDITION to perjury. They should NOT be able to just “surrender” their law licenses, if caught being unethical & misrepresenting “evidence.”

      • Jerry

The ones still doing what the judge ordered them to stop should be held in contempt if not then at least an explanation of why they are above the law? This should include the pos obastard
