Newly announced debate rules could spell disaster for Rand Paul and several other high-profile campaigns

Rand Paul has a place on the GOP debate stage — for now.

But the debate rules announced Wednesday by CNBC could end up spelling disaster for the Kentucky senator and several other high-profile candidates — including Gov. Chris Christie and former Gov. Mike Huckabee.

All three would qualify for the all-important primetime debate if it were held today, but just barely — thanks to a rounding provision in the rules, Paul’s current polling average would meet the 3 percent threshold set by the cable network. The other two are slightly above the 3 percent cut-off.

Still trying to manipulate the election. We are a long way from the election and things change rapidly. Even if these two are not going to win it is very good to have their opinions. I’d just like for the “debates” to allow each one to address all questions.

It’s time to eliminate the obvious losses. Contributors should say enough is enough. With such a low bar 3 %, who are we kidding, it’s all about ratings not what the American people are concerned about. Thanks GOP for a wonderful cartoon . Now it’s time to get serious . The country is on a verge of total collapse under this administration and you are concerned as to which candidate has 3%, are you kidding me?

I don’t watch the debates anyhow so wouldn’t make any difference to me.

Control the participants, control the questions, control the time allotted to each participant. Absolutely, a free and open discussion of the issues. I would not vote for any of the 3, but have issues with the changing of the rules. They probably spent days and weeks trying to figure out how to get rid of Trump and anyone else who doesn’t toe the mark.

I’ve not made up my mind, but I’d rather have a Trump type than another puppet of either persuasion. Am fed up with DemoCraps and RepublicRats
