President Obama will name Air Force Gen. Lori Robinson to be the head of U.S. Northern Command, making her the nation’s first female combatant commander, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter announced Friday.

The position, which is subject to Senate approval, is one of the most senior in the U.S. military and would make Gen. Robinson — who now leads U.S. air forces in the Pacific — the top general overseeing activities in North America.

Northern Command is one of the nation’s six regional combatant commands, tasked with helping defend the homeland. As commander, Gen. Robinson would answer directly to Mr. Carter.

“General Robinson, it just so happens, would be the first-ever female combatant commander,” Mr. Carter said at an event hosted by Politico, Reuters reported. “That shows yet another thing — which is that we have, coming along now, a lot of female officers who are exceptionally strong. And Lori certainly fits into that category.”

I have one question. How many combat hours does she have in her flight log book.

Do we still have a real military or has this become just another political sorority? Nothing against women but the military will never be their true domain!

  • Jose

For all who are against a woman being in charge: what are your military qualifications. What units have you served with and what was your rank.

  • Jose

As a retired military who served under the command of someone who was an officer and another was a senior in grade than myself that were women, I would proudly service under their command again. It is not whether it is a woman or a man, it is whether the person has the ability to lead. Whether the promotion was deserved which I want to believe is the case or whether obama did this to help hrc get more women votes I do not know but again, I would gladly service under the command of a woman

  • Phil Esposito

Don’t put a girl in charge of our fighting men. Senate should not confirm her.

  • Shaymamma8

    Good for her!!!

  • carpkiller

another PC 0 in a 10 position. Should we fire on that rocket going by?

  • Gerry Costa

Just making a bigger mockery of our military than he already has. No wonder the rest of the world has ” ZERO ” respect for our military or our country anymore.

    • I Seigel

So in other words, you have no respect – or maybe even any knowledge or experience – with the military or its chain of command that would allow a woman to earn the rank of general? Very nice, Mr. Patriot.!

    • Niko

I see that moron “heil”seigel the stupid jew text you. He is the kind of jew that gave up their own kind to the nazis. He is one colorfully painted ignorant of his arrogance ,Politically Correct Zombie.

      • I Seigel

HAHAHA! You’re such a moron, Diko. Just so you understand – did you know that Israel was full of Jews? You obviously are an Israel-hater. Not too good a conservative, are you?

      • Gerry Costa

Well said Niko and it appears you are exactly right.

        • Niko

Mr. Costa thank you for your reply. I wonder what that fool knows about the military. I myself was an airborne ranger from 80 thru 86 deposing tyrannical govts. and fascist moron pigs like heil seigel in South America for 4 years after 2 years of gruelling intense training. I cannot see any woman being able to put up with what i had to. Many good men could not make it. Social engineering does not work on any level, especially the miliyary.

  • Rodney Steward

Obama continues to down grade our military by putting more and more unqualified people in high security jobs, the big house if full of unqualified people!!

    • Jose

@r steward: and what are your military qualifications. What units have you served with and what was your rank.

      • Rodney Steward

Well Jose, in 1972 the year I graduated high school, I had a low daft #, and yes they were still drafting!! So I joined the Army, and went to Ft, Leonard Wood Missouri for basic and AIT training! Charlie Co. 151rst Combat Engineer Battalion was what I was listed as, went to Ft Campbell Kentucky for a while, then went to Ft Rucker AL. to Clear a place for a Hellaport, but I was stationed out of Ft McClellan AL. that is now pretty well shut down thanks to Billy-Bob Clinton! We were no different than the National Guard, building floating bridges across creeks and rivers, rifle ranges, kept us busy! This was a big thing in Nam, the Engineers, we cleared land, built landing pads with the metal plates, build latrines, name it we had to do it! But my main goal was to shoot on the rifle team, I wanted that bad, I love shooting, and still do! So I found out if I left the army and went to a National Guard I had a lot better chance of getting on a rifle team, so in 77 I went to the Guards, and in a short time was doing what I wanted! I got out in 84, at the rank of E-6. Enjoyed traveling to different places shooting, and the M1 Grands is truly Grand, and till this day I still shoot at that old Ft McClellan that I now don’t live far from! Shoot with retired military and law enforcement, and thanks to our great Senator Jeff Sessions, we now have the CMP weapons available, and this is where our soon to be shooting club will be set up! But my time in service was during the time everything was and had wound down, and never got to go over seas that I wanted, it was at a stand still! But I took that Oath and it was for life, and I’d went anywhere they would have wanted!! Your Turn!

        • Jose

If I told you, I would have to make sure you met your demise so I want you to enjoy a long life.

        • Jose

How unique since this is official: Forty years ago today, the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam (this was printed on 3-18-2013) and if you graduated in 72 (presumably June), went to boot camp, advance training, stationed in Ky, etc when did you do all that work in Nam as you say. FYI: I was in from 61 to 87 with 2 tours in Nam 65 and 89/70. I was with 3rd Marine Division when we moved from Oki to Nam in 65. Enough said.

          • Rodney Steward

I never said I went to Nam, I said that the Combat Engineer played a very big role their, and that was what most of the training was for when I went in! Like now, the training now is different, you train for the sand lands and heat, but the heat was also bad in Nam! When I went to the Guards you wouldn’t believe at the men from Nam that flooded the Guards! I had a Uncle in about the time you were in! But NO, I never went there, but I would have!

          • Jose

For r steward: This was a big thing in Nam, the Engineers, we cleared land, built landing pads with the metal plates, build latrines, name it we had to do it!
Above is part of your statement and it appears to say you were there by the use of Nam, Engineers, we. All this implies you were there doing engineer work. You could be in politics and be like hrc, once caught in a lie, back track and say you never said that.

          • Rodney Steward

I made myself clear, I said I never went to Nam, and I did not mean it to sound that way! But this is the job I trained for, and did this on 2 or 3 forts, I guess to give us something to do and keep us up on our jobs! But I have NOT LIED to U at all, what’s the purpose of it, what would I gain!

      • gvette

        What are yours?

        • Jose

If I told you, I would have to make sure you met your demise so I want you to enjoy a long life.

    • I Seigel

She’s a general in the Air Force, and that makes her unqualified to lead? How’s that? What are YOUR qualifications to make that judgement?

And please name some other unqualified people that he’s put into high security jobs.

      • Rodney Steward

I pulled my time in service, and I now have 3 family members in, one Army and two in the AIR FORCE!! And the air ones have said that they’ve been cut to the bone and basically running on a skeleton crew, and that all the experienced one have been let go for no reason. And what few that has been replaced know absolutely nothing about their job! But this has become common under this White house thug, If a general disagrees with the POS he replaces them with a yes man or now woman! He’s not upgrading the military at all, just slowly dismantling it!! And he continues his sick agenda on the U.S.!!!
