Tea Party group threatens primary challenge over Supreme Court hearings

A Tea Party group is threatening to support a primary challenger against Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) after he said the Senate should hold a hearing for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee.

“Grassroots activists in Kansas and across the country are furious that Senator Jerry Moran has decided to join President Obama in denying them a voice in the next Supreme Court Justice with their votes in November,” Tea Party Patriots Citizen Fund Chairwoman Jenny Beth Martin said Friday in a statement.

She called Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, a liberal who will threaten the right to bear arms and side with “big government agencies.”

“It’s this kind of outrageous behavior that leads Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund activists and supporters to think seriously about encouraging Dr. Milton Wolf to run against Sen. Moran in the August GOP primary,” Martin added.

Wolf lost a primary challenge to Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) in 2014.

“The People” HAVE spoken. They elected a president who is carrying out his constitutional duty. They also spoke by electing senators. Now it is time for them to carry out their constitutional duty: hold hearings on the nominee. It’s as simple as that. Come on, “Tea Party”. Quit talking out of both sides of your mouths! “The People” will “speak” again in November. Until then follow the constitution. What are you so afraid of?

I thought Moran and Roberts were taking turns at whomever was closest to reelection would allow the other to make the liberal calls to protect. I want two NEW senators in Kansas!

Amen! I agree with the Tea Party; it’s well past time to mount aggressive challenges to every RINO, even to the point of the possibility of recall elections for such scum as Mitch McConnell, Graham Corker and others.
