House Conservatives Plot Ryan Overthrow

September 8, 2017

ryanpaulSeveral influential House conservatives are privately plotting ways to use the legislative calendar this fall to push their hard-line agenda — including quiet discussions about possibly mounting a leadership challenge to House Speaker Paul D. Ryan.

The group has gone so far as to float the idea of recruiting former House speaker Newt Gingrich or former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum as potential replacements for Ryan (R-Wis.) should there be a rebellion. The Constitution does not require that an elected member of the House serve as speaker.

While the chances that a non-House member could mount a credible threat to Ryan are exceedingly slim, the fact that the group has even toyed with the idea underscores their desire to create trouble for GOP leaders if they believe their demands are not being addressed.

The closed-door conversations are being led by Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, in consultation with his allies on the right, in particular Stephen K. Bannon, President Trump’s former chief strategist who recently returned to his perch as executive chairman of the Breitbart News website. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and other Freedom Caucus members are also involved in the talks to varying degrees, according to nearly a dozen people with knowledge of the discussions.

    Send Ryan packing!

  • Dave Shiffman says:

We elected Trump because he was the ONLY candidate that built his agenda by interacting with voters instead of insiders. The Maraschino cherry on top was “Drain The Swamp”, which transformed it into AMERICA’s AGENDA! Trump was the only one that had the courage to call out the Establishment Types, and the $CASH to not be bought off.

McConnell and Ryan both brought their own agendas, and for a while Trump was talked into believing that their detailed knowledge of how Washington works would help him. Those “leadership” agendas now lie battered and broken in the gutter in front of the Capitol steps, and they are trying to blame Trump, just like the Dems. So I repeat:
We MUST judge EVERYONE solely on what the do to advance the Trump AGENDA, as well as on what they do to interfere distract, and delay or defeat that agenda.

  • richbach says:

Mitch McConnell also needs to be replaced. He is no better than Ryan. He blames President Trump for what he says is an unrealistic agenda. I don’t remember his exact words, but unrealistic will have to do. 7 years these cry babies have been saying they would repeal and replace Obamacare. First they ask for the House and the American people gave them the House. That wasn’t enough. Then they asked for the Senate. The American people gave them the Senate and they kept the House. That still wasn’t enough. Then they said if we can just get the White House we can repeal and replace Obamacare. They have both the House and the Senate and the Presidency ans President Trump was read to sign into law the repeal and replacement of Obamacare, but they just couldn’t get it done. It is high time we have new leadership inn the House and the Senate. We also need to replace John McCain and Jeff Flake. These 2 jerks are nothing but Democrats in GOP clothing. Time to literally and figuratively clean house.

  • Cheh Low says:

Good idea. I am all for getting rid of this Rino for good. He is a trouble maker for President Trump. Likewise Rino Mitch McConnell needs to go.

  • Mercedes Waggoner says:

If true news not Fake News, Newt would make a super non-member replacement … he got us out of Clinton’s jam.

  • justinwachin says:

There could be some benefits of having the speaker to not be someone currently serving as a representative. The speaker could focus on managing the House and seeing that things got done. The speaker would serve at the pleasure of a majority of House members.

If the speaker ran things fairly for both sides he/she might be able to remain in the position even if the House changed hands.

At one time Paul Ryan was considered the wonder boy of the Republican Party. I think reality has probably wiped out that notion. I’m disappointed that he has been unable to get President Trump’s conservative agenda turned into legislation.

    1. Retired says:

Running for the oval office as VP went to his head and screwed him up .

  • Big Ed says:

I draw the line at killing him, but any other possibility is fine if the result is that Paul Ryan is not the speaker of the house when it’s over. Probably more important than ridding ourselves of Ryan, however, is dumping McConnell in the Senate. These two together gave Obama everything Obama wanted but have fought tooth and nail to prevent Trump from implementing any important part of his agenda. Trump is promising to do the things the people of the country wanted. These same citizens told the Republican politicians what they wanted as well, and the politicians promised to do it for them. After being elected, all of their promises became difficult or impossible to achieve-what weenies.

  • barbarakelly says:

Well GOP it is about time that you started to listen o the American people—–Yes do overthrow him. He is not for the AMerican people. He has been plotting against us and our Pres. from the start. He was on the tarmax with the AG and Bill—- he and Graham and some others went to obama’s resident for a meeting and they are socialist/ globalist. They have been fighting to slow down the agenda of what Trumps wants to get down. These people we don’t need. Ryan can go stuff it when goes and barks that he doesn’t like something. To hell with him he needs to go.!!!!!

    1. regulus30 says:

Not going to happen; vote for independents in 2018

  • dmttbt says:

Why would we believe or give a dam about what a group of stealing lying politicians say. We send requests and they say yes but they do no. They are not going to change because they are part of the mafia that is running this country. That is why Ryan has not done any better, because he is just as guilty as the rest. We have so many stupid regulations and laws it would take another 299 years to get rid of the politicians and their policies. They make themselves exempt from any laws they pass for us because we are a much lower class group than what they are.

  • Anthony says:

Move him out, he have not been a straight shooter with his Boss, he is not trying to help fixing problem, he is part of the problem. get him out.

  • Tins17 says:

  • CBUJAN says:

Trey Goudy would make a great Speaker of the House.

    1. McFerguson says:

      I agree. He’s solid…

  • DrBillLemoine says:

It didn’t work overthrowing Cantor and Boehner. What makes extremists think removing Ryan will be any better when the Freedom Caucus is such a small part of congress? Their main impact is from the threat of primary challenges in elections, not DC leadership by the evidence. Oops, I forgot that the ultras, now with the alt right, don’t pay attention to polls, evidence or facts. I’d like to believe the representatives-domestic terrorists have pass their high water mark (to honor Harvey and Irma images) and are ebbing now. We are seeing the resurgence of Democrats with Pres. Trump cutting deals there, to get any ‘wins’ at all in his tenure. It’s the power of their policies sinking the alt right extremists. The nation doesn’t want Dreamers deported; we don’t want all immigrants banned; we need more widespread insurance, not Obamacare elimination; and tax reform for the middle class, not fat cats is the order of the moderates and progressives of both parties. Ryan and McConnell are no better, or no worse, than Boehner and Cantor with regressive policies afoot and KKK or white supremacists ensconced in the White House. Change the policies and resume regular order to get the laws the nation wants and needs. Maybe Ryan replacement is needed anyway.

    1. gvette says:

LMAO…polls? Like the one that said your pal killary was going to win in a landslide? Those polls, dick breath Bill?

      1. DrBillLemoine says:

Yeah, polls. Nobody knew what big liars you ultra conservatives were to pollsters. Plus Hillary stopped campaigning, suffered Comey’s mistakes with public announcements. But the worst was Trump surrounded by commies, aided by Russian bots and hacked Democratic sources. But you digress. Aren’t you watching Ryan melt down against his alt-right base and screw 20 million healthcare subscribers with his Trumpcare bill? I still don’t think 17 Senate Freedom Caucus members can overturn 35 regular Republican senators In the Republican caucus to vote out Ryan. Like Cantor, though you can vote for an alternative and oust this lone-dog Speaker. Clearly he doesn’t represent all of congress, nor try to even represent his own whole Republican caucus. He’s inept.

        1. gvette says:

What a dumb fuck you are. Still looking for the Russians under your bed? You might want to look at Killary. She was the one that facilitated the sale of uranium to Russia, and Billy boy getting paid millions in talking fees! So far, Trump has done more in a short time, then your gay Muslim pal did in 8 years.

          1. DrBillLemoine says:

So tell everybody you would rather sell unsecured uranium to Pakistan, or Iran or North Korea? Talk about dumb. Where’d you learn that nonsense about secure Russia?
Sorry to inform you that people don’t value your speeches since you were not leader of the free world EVER, or lead top diplomats across national borders and the UN who know something, or challenge your basic knowledge of Trump who has done virtually nothing this year. Don’t you even know it was McConnell, Boehner, Cantor and now Ryan who blocked the Christian Obama for 8 years in congress? Talk about dumb. And better than you are seeking those Ruskies who you support big time by backing Trump who is controlled by Putin the puppet master. Yes, talk about dumb and look in the mirror.

          2. gvette says:

You are the dumbest fuck I’ve seen in a long time. I guess it was Ok for Killary to do what she did. Your fucking nigger gave all he could to our enemys.
As for blocking the nigger, he got everything he wanted, and then some, right up to the point of doubling our debt, without one fucking thing to show for it.
Trump has done more, in a short time, then your nigger did in 8, Bill Give me the list.

          3. DrBillLemoine says:

Now I know you didn’t create this list yourself, so what’s the source? See, more lies and false representations by you that is endemic among ultra-righties. The majority of citizens don’t want your kind running the country, making rump decisions, aiming for inequality of citizens, seeking bluster for substance, adding to the swamp with known criminals, atheists and hangers-on, granting unlimited authority without forethought or accountability. A few pointers to you the thoughtless sycophants of Trump.
Most of the economics you list are continuing outcomes of Obama policies that saved the nation and free world from Recession. Few bill have come from congress, only more executive orders by Trump, many of them already ruled illegal and unconstitutional. You still don’t understand national, state and local economics or politics or any sort of American-based rights and responsibilities. What’s going into place from the new office holders who are known or emerging criminals are isolating America, making us look foolish abroad, and aborting national progress. To drain the swamp you are filling it up with more bad guys known for their evil and shortsighted policies. Nobody wants to work for Trump the petulant, juvenile, thought free tweeter-in-chief. You personally haven’t learned a thing from my truth telling and fact finding here over time. But the ray of sunshine for me and progressives is that you time is already waning, you are already defensive enough to propose a list in the face of no accomplishments of note, and those of your own party are recoiling from Trump which will soon make a new majority with bipartisan bills passed, evil laws nullified and Trump removed for cause. Enjoy it will you can–I see the light at the end of the tunnel already. Don’t you???

      1. DrBillLemoine says:

Next up, Ryan. But you yourselves don’t have a credible leader, so I look for more gridlock outside of Democratic support.

        1. Retired says:

You are the dog with the bone along with the Media on this Russian BS .You don’t talk about Obama and sending people to Israel to go against their leader or Billy Boy who sent people into the Middle east to get leaders thrown out of office . You have been Brain washed by your Fat Cats Union Leaders that support the Crocket Demoncrats .Your demons have no leadership either and if a honest person runs for either party people like you and the Media will destroy them . The gridlock is Schumer – Pelosi -Crying Clintons and Soros the Ghetto Jew .Look at all his shirt tail relations in Politics and open your eyes .

          1. DrBillLemoine says:

Just imagine for a moment that Putin is really manipulating Trump via billions of dollars in loans to the prez. Already Trump has allowed the first Russian photographs to be taken in the Oval Office. Jared has already tried to establish ‘secret’ communications with Putin via the Russian embassy. Bannon wants to subvert American government for his purposes which facilitates Russian penetration. Flynn got awards from Putin and got the Republican party campaign plank against Russia erased. Etc., etc., etc. There’s clearly enough collusion and obstruction of Ruskie ties to keep the FBI searching. Yet you ignore it as inconsequential. Over 70 years Russians have spied on us, stolen secrets, installed moles and subverted citizens, and now Trump makes it all easy. Who’s is blind in this picture? I’m not willing to turn the country over to Russians; you are.
Nobody was sent by Obama to subvert Israel; it was all out in the open as conflict with Bebe and plain as day toward this apartheid and Muslim/arab suppressor. You forget it was Ike who destabilized Iran and leader Mosabeck before the Shah took over. And you forgot it was Bush2 who invaded Iraq, not any Democrat. You tunnel vision jeopardizes this good nation and you’ll have to roll over me and millions of other right thinking people before Putin takes over.
Actually I prefer union members to any of their leaders with a few exceptions. Some professions and many people are too meek to stand up for themselves, hence unions form. You spit on the little guy by eliminating unions and you’ll simply get dictatorship.
And you have no clue about honesty or leadership by supporting McConnell, Ryan, Boehner, Cantor, Vitter, Ensign, DeLay, and the boy molestor Speaker, not to mention already convicted crook Trump over the university and foundation. In truth America has always had a free speech media; destroy that and you have — dictatorship. I’ll take Democratic malfeasance any day before adulterers, wheedlers, stonewallers, ideologues, manipulators, traitors, subversives and supremacists on your aisle.
BTW politics as the art of the possible requires negotiating, fact finding, holding hearings in the open, asking what the public needs–none of that of interest to Republicans/dictators. Trump himself is a one-man-band.

          2. Retired says:

If Trump is a one man band ,what are you the lone stranger ??? Your imagination runs away with you . It is no wonder your sister called you a wind bag. Where do you get all these wet dream ideas from other than the Brainless Media that writes nothing but NON fact sea stories .They twist things to their likings just like you .

  • McFerguson says:

I’m all for challenging Speaker Ryan. For seven years these GOP leaders have been yapping about getting rid of ObamaCare and used it as a re-election ploy. But when the time came, they failed to deliver. They didn’t have a plan. Ryan’s a nice guy, but he’s weak. He’s weak on stopping ILLEGAL immigration and is weak on the border wall. He speaks like a conservative. But his actions are liberal. I’m all for the GOP Freedom Caucus and it’s conservative members showing Ryan the door. We need somebody who’s going to support the Trump agenda, and Ryan ain’t gonna get it done. He’s a snowflake, “can’t we all just get along” kind of guy. No, hell no, we can’t!

We are coming up on 8 months and very little to show for it but bickering. The GOP has to get behind the president the people selected and get this country back on the road to strength and good health again. The crap the DNC has forced this country to endure is evil. If we do not get this work done in the next year the majority of the American conservatives will be seriously looking for better people to fill these positions. This is a wake-up call for all in political positions to start working harder….

  • bobnstuff says:

A small group of members of congress believe they should run the place, they think they speak for the American people even though they in fact are just a small part of congress. How big must your ego be to think your views are always the only ones that count. Instead of giving these people power they should work around them. Give them no more of a voice then they deserve. This group is destroying the Republican party and the country as a whole. I’m no fan of Ryan but for totally different reasons then the far right. We need someone who puts country before party and understands the represent everyone even those that didn’t vote for them. We are one country not two teams.

    1. Bob says:

“A small group of members of congress believe they should run the place…” You mean like Reid, Pelosi, Hoyer and Schumer? Or how about Conyers, Mosley-Braun, Rangel and the rest of the Congressional (Liberal) Black Caucus? None of them speak for me nor for the “American People”, yet they controlled the agenda and forced their actions on us. Works both ways, and the far-left has been at it far longer.

      1. bobnstuff says:

90 people vote against Trumps wishes. Those 90 people are the same ones that vote against everything. They think they are in charge and will work with no one, not even their president. Trump has now figured out how to get things done. Lets see just how well these so called conservatives do when it comes time to keep their jobs. Just always saying no to everything isn’t how a country is run. It’s the American people that elected people like Pelosi and Schumer over and over again. Voting against our country paying the bills it has rung up and against helping people who have suffered a disaster just shows they aren’t good representatives of our country and in fact just not very smart.

          2. McFerguson says:

My point, which you’re way too lame to appreciate, is I don’t think for a minute you’re a Republican. A RINO yes. A conservative Reagan, Goldwater-type republican? Not a chance. An Obama-type who wants to create chaos in the GOP, and “fundamentally transform” us into a wussie, socialist, welfare state like Germany, yes, that’s your America. That’s being Progressive, not Republican. You’re not fooling anybody, except yourself.

          3. bobnstuff says:

Reagan would be called a RINO today, so would Goldwater. Reagan raised taxes passed regulation and gave amnesty. Goldwater supported Gay rights and Abortion. Goldwater was blown out of the water by Johnson. John McCain is the man Goldwater supported to replace him in congress.

Ryan was also in that meeting on that tarmac in Phoenix. The pilot of Lynch’s DOJ plane, DMITRI NOONAN was going to tell everything because he overheard it all, but they murdered him before he could.

      1. Roy Fredrichsen says:

Aha! Another victim of the Clinton Mafia. Sooner or later it will all catch-up with the Clintons when they least expect it.

      2. Reasoned thinker says:

Leslie Woodhull — I hadn’t heard before about the pilot having been murdered! What the heck? . . . Have I been under a rock, or what? Would you mind describing further what happened out there? Thanks.

        1. Leslie Woodhull says:

Fox had him sequestered and were protecting him until they could break the story and somehow he was still murdered while in their protective custody. Sean Hannity saw what he had to reveal and he said that Dmitri Noonan was legitimate and that it was really awful that they had managed to silence him. Noonan had overheard their entire conversation. (This was right before Ryan univited Trump from visiting Wisconsin. It was during this meeting that they decided that Ryan would not back Trump anymore.) Ryan started receiving money from the Hillary campaign from that time on. Lynch would remain DOJ head and once Hillary was President all of her legal troubles would go away and there would be no investigations into anything and Ryan would remain Speaker.

          1. Reasoned thinker says:

Leslie Woodhull — Thanks for your reply. Wow, that is the first I’ve heard about such a thing! Whew . . . scary really! Why the heck hasn’t this ever come out, somehow? I mean . . . really . . . Sean Hannity isn’t what I would call “a shy guy.” I don’t think I have ever even heard the name “Dmitri Noonan,” let along having heard about him as having any sort of connection to Hillary. Geez!

Regarding the matter of Ryan having a meeting, after which Hillary’s Campaign started sending money . . . what is that about? I’ve heard nothing about that either.

          2. Leslie Woodhull says:

I know. McCain, and the gal who ran…what was her name?? She also got $ from Hillary and stopped backing Trump. Good thing he didn’t need them.

          3. Leslie Woodhull says:

It was Carly Fiorina that also got money from Hillary! I know I couldn’t believe it either!! COMPLETE SELL OUTS!! If you want a REAL eye opener you need to listen to Rebekah Roth. First read her last book, Methodical Conclusion- it will blow your brains out! She figured out who did 9/11! She was an airline attendant and purser for 30 years and in chapter 26 of that book above, she tells it all in detail. She had to write it as a fictional work to protect herself and her family but ALL of the information in that chapter is REAL from FOIA data she received-almost a complete terabyte of data-it will sicken you-but it is real. If you read nothing else, it will tell you everything you need to know about who did 9/11. Then go on her site: and you’ll get the rest. It’s nothing short of the truth.

    2. Ralph - Msg Ret says:

From Tipsy O,Niel up to Lyin Ryan,Newt is the only Speaker of the House that is/was for THE PEOPLE!

    3. Reasoned thinker says:

tom cook — I LOVE that idea (i.e., getting Newt in there) . . . I really do!
