Ted Cruz: ‘No net tax. Not now. Not ever’

November 16, 2014

Sen. Ted Cruz released a video Friday in which he takes a hard-line stance against a proposal that would allow states to collect sales taxes on purchases from out-of-state online retailers that some are hoping will pass in the current lame-duck session of Congress.

“If the Internet sales tax becomes law, small online retailers would have to comply with over 9,600 tax jurisdictions across the country. Big box stores don’t have to do that, and it’s just not fair,” said Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican.

There is no way small businesses on sites like “ebay” could survive. It would make it impossible. Senators, like Lindsey Grahm want the tax, saying it’s unfair to local businesses. Well, I don’t sell things that are readily available in town and I don’t get the special tax breaks, incentives that big businesses do. Well, Lindsey, this is just a sneaky way for you to raise taxes without appearing to. You should be for lowering taxes for everyone. Bottom line: Government stay out of our business!

Another amazingly stupid statement from this one-eyed jack.

It’s not the Federal government who is pushing an Internet Sales Tax. It’s individual states like Texas or California. This has been a continuing battle with Amazon for years, and Amazon is finally giving in to the states. So Cruz, get off your silly high horse and deal with the jerks in your own state who are pushing the tax.

And by the way, it’s the small companies trying to compete with Amazon who have been pushing for the Internet Sales Tax, to try to negate Amazon’s advantage. Cruz has it bass-ackwards, again.
