Trump signs waiver delaying move of US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem

June 1, 2017

President Trump signed a waiver Thursday that delays his campaign promise to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the White House said Thursday.

Trump’s waiver suspends the move under the Jerusalem Embassy Act for six months. The law, passed in 1995, required the embassy to be moved to Jerusalem by the end of the 20th century, or else the State Department’s building budget would be cut in half.

However, the law allowed the president to sign six-month waivers if it did not serve the national interest to move the embassy. Every president since the bill became law — Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and now Trump — all signed waivers.

During the campaign, Trump promised to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He maintained that promise up until the night before the election when he told a Times of Israel reporter, “You know I’m not a person who breaks promises.”

Then, buried in around the middle of the source article, is the “why”.

“President Trump made this decision to maximize the chances of successfully negotiating a deal between Israel and the Palestinians, fulfilling his solemn obligation to defend America’s national security interests,” Spicer said. “But, as he has repeatedly stated his intention to move the embassy, the question is not if that move happens, but only when.”

Part of Fake News being able to give false impressions of President Trump being ineffective is not just misrepresentation, but how things are presented.

Yes and they continue to try to make him look as bad as possible. Jerks.

Because he is a horrible human being.

I respectfully disagree. I think he is a good person which is proven by his philanthropy towards those in need. It’s well documented and it was long before he considered running for office.

If that were true, I might reconsider, but where did you hear that? His foundation had given nothing to charity and he commissioned 2 huge oils of himself through the foundation.
One of the reasons he won’t release his tax returns is that he has given nothing to charity. He has over 3000 lawsuits filed against him for not paying his contractors. New York State is suing him. Where are you coming from?

    2. Pete says:

Much of the editorial staff in the major news organizations will not let a positive assessment of Trump get published. They are simply the enablers of all things never-Trump. Some will go belly up over it but which diehard leftist rag will go first is debatable.

Another broken promise. Maybe he should keep his fat yap shut until he gets ALL the facts. Whadya think?

“Who knew health care was going to be so complicated?” Hah!
