RGA may hit airwaves in Virginia governor race

July 14, 2013

The Republican Governors Association could go on the air in the Virginia gubernatorial race as early as next week, and has inquired about the rates for ad time in the 2013 battleground state, according to two media-tracking sources.

The RGA did not respond to requests for comment on its advertising plans, but the two sources said that the powerhouse GOP committee is at least exploring the option of a midsummer TV offensive.

The general election between Republican state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe is expected to be very expensive and very negative.

So far, both candidates have largely focused their advertising on touting their own positive attributes.
