Florida Senate race draws a crowded field

Democrats hoping to flip Florida’s Senate seat might start looking to moderate Rep. Patrick Murphy — whether Sen. Marco Rubio (R) runs for reelection or not.

The state could be a must-win for Democrats hoping to win back control of the Senate in 2016. And the buzz in Sunshine State Democratic circles about the candidate who could do that is all about Murphy, a two-term congressman and rising political star in the state.

“He’s seriously considering the race, whether it’s for an open seat or not,” Murphy’s deputy chief of staff Anthony Kusich told The Hill.
