Calls grow louder in Congress to make good on threat, cut aid to Egyptian military

August 19, 2013

Calls to cut U.S. aid to Egypt gained steam Sunday as members of Congress on both sides of the aisle urged the Obama administration to suspend support in the aftermath of deadly clashes between the military and Islamist protesters.

Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, accused the White House of failing to follow through on a threat to cut off aid in the event of a coup. Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, was deposed by the military in early July after he granted himself unlimited powers.

“We have no credibility. That’s the problem,” Mr. McCain said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We know the administration called the Egyptians and said, ‘Look, if you do a coup, we’re going have to cut off aid because that’s the law. We have to comply with the law.’ This administration did not do that after threatening to do so.”

President Obama announced Thursday from his vacation spot on Martha’s Vineyard that he had canceled joint military exercises, but he has resisted freezing the $1.3 billion in annual U.S. aid to Egypt.

That Moron, War Monger John McCain has been wrong so many time it is unforgivable… He would love to see that 1.3 billion go to the Muslim Brotherhood the real enemy of the United States!

Here is a thought if egypt wants money, it is not be used for military use for the time being. It is on the premise no more attacks on Christian coptic or their churches. I have heard no comment out of obama on this issue. Just that he doesn’t like violence. Now isn’t that just dandee.

If you stop money to egypt and the muslis take over than you will be responsible for every little boys hands that get cut off for stealing a penny candy. Also fo the hanging and beheading of woman for no reason at all other than their husband wants to get rid of them or for not wearing a vail………

  • Hitler was elected in a democratic vote. We all know what he did after that. If someone had been able to depose him before he caused millions of deaths, those opposing further aid to Egypt now, would have denied aid to the deposers of Hitler. Egypt was going the way of pre WW 2 Germany. Evidently , even those who lack a sense of history or common sense can get elected to high office.
