‘I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris’: Trump pulling U.S. from global climate pact, dismaying allies

June 2, 2017

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump declared Thursday he was pulling the U.S. from the landmark Paris climate agreement, striking a major blow to worldwide efforts to combat global warming and distancing the country from its closest allies abroad.

Framing his decision as “a reassertion of America’s sovereignty,” Mr. Trump said the U.S. could try to re-enter the deal under more favorable terms or work to establish “an entirely new transaction.” But he indicated that was hardly a priority. “If we can, great. If we can’t, that’s fine,” he said.

Scientists say Earth is likely to reach more dangerous levels of warming sooner as a result of the president’s decision because America’s pollution contributes so much to rising temperatures. Calculations suggest withdrawal could result in emissions of up to 3 billion tons of additional carbon dioxide a year — enough to melt ice sheets faster, raise seas higher and trigger more extreme weather.

By abandoning the world’s chief effort to slow the tide of planetary warming, Trump was fulfilling a top campaign pledge. But he was also breaking from many of America’s staunches allies, who have expressed alarm about the decision.

mountains of evidence co2 is not the culprit..on the other hand? these elitist social engineers and the entrainment of cultural marxists agendas seem to believe redistribution is the answer to their utopia problem.not only do they redistribute wealth ..they redistribute everything in reality; including integrity..global warming is a way to redistribute on a global scale ..interdependent economic paradigm with the montra of scarcity being the reality .this abandoned the good clean air clean water concept 20 years ago..this is about the new world order..this NWO looks more like a hybrid of the brown shirts and trotski with a khmer rouge thrown in for caustic measure.this is a great way to filter the intellectual spineless among us? try debating one? then watch free speech become trashed..

Global warming/climate change is a huge hoax created to further tax and control people. The weather world wide has been created and controlled beginning in the 1950’s and currently fifteen countries control the entire world’s weather. Check the geoengineeringwatch.org web site. Then read Elana Freeland’s book “Chemtrails, HAARP, and the full spectrum dominance of planet earth” and Peter A. Kirby’s book “Chemtrails Exposed.”
President Trump did the right thing by rejecting the phony global warming scam and is protecting the rights and freedoms of the American people.

This entire subject of ‘Climate Change’ has been a total fiasco. This so-called pact was an affront to the sovereignty of the USA, relegating it to control by an assembly of world satraps. If, and it is a big IF, that Man has the power to significantly change the ‘climate’, then the USA can unilaterally take whatever steps it decides are necessary and meaningful. If others desire to follow our lead, then we can be supportive to whatever degree we wish.

It would be wise to consider an old adage, Don’t fool with Mother Nature. Think of rabbits in Australia. The rabbit, imported to Australia, has no natural enemy in Australia, and the wild rabbits have multiplied to the detriment of the Australian environment.

I am getting to not believing scientists any more. They have been stating crap that is showing their ignorance to the American public. This country takes forever to change rules and regulations and now one has changed anything that would create an increase in CO2 pollution and the SCIENTISTS have already made a future prediction that we are single handedly going to destroy the world if we don’t stay in the Paris talks. The scientists are the ones who can’t predict the weather and I am going to believe anything you say about the future destruction of earth because of a global warming agreement. We may produce more CO2 (I doubt it) but we also do a better job of cleaning it up and protecting the environment. I think the Europeans are working on bad science or they have a mess over in Europe and they assume it is the same everywhere. Let us stop being globalists and start taking care of our own home and let them do the same. If they destroy themselves so be it they will need to answer for it. If we think we can dictate to any other country to force some crazy global warming policies we are looking for a black eye. President Trump, Stay the coarse…

The United States was never part of this climate pact.Obama was the only member. This deal was never brought before Congress for a vote.He knew it would never pass.We simply cannot finance the entire world. We cannot even get our allies to pay their fair share for defense. All they want is our money.

Trump has fulfilled a campaign promise. Amazing. In doing so he has stepped down once again and given more power to the Chinese. I guess being the leader of the free world is to big a job for him. He claims that this move will save jobs and money which of course isn’t true. What it does do is put a lot of people and property in danger. He said he was doing it to save coal jobs but it won’t since it’s the cost of Natural Gas and the fact that the rest of the world is pulling away from coal that has been causing the decline of the coal industry. The fact that green energy has created more jobs then coal has ever had makes no difference to our President. I guess letting China take the lead in the world as well as Russia makes some kind of sense in Trumps mind. As far as choosing Pittsburgh as an example, that was just plain stupid. He needs to come visit Pittsburgh, a city that has made the transition from out dated heavy industry to high tech. If you want a example of cleaning up your act Pittsburgh is a good place to start. To bad Trump didn’t bother to understand that. Here is the good news, it will be four years before the US is out of the Accord. By then we will have had another election.

    1. Bob S says:

As if the Chinese will lead the way on renewable energy! That’s a crock. They copy us on everything else, regardless of copy rights or patents. Please name one industry where they have taken the lead. What they are good at is communism and using their resources and people to advance government. The Paris accord is just another globalist effort at redistribution of wealth as is the entire climate change initiative. Is there anything in the Paris accord that references agribusiness and the effect of livestock on the climate? Agribusiness is the 400 lb. gorilla in the room….affects CO2 emissions more than all other sources combined and changing it will affect the climate immediately, not 10 years down the road. When the situation of climate change becomes truly serious, you’ll see changes in agribusiness, until then I’ll assume it’s just a power grab.

      1. bobnstuff says:

For one, LEV, electric cars. They now have the fastest car and are way ahead of us. These talk of the Chinese building a factory in the US to build electric cars for the US market.

How much do you know about agribusiness? They have been making major changes over the last decade. They are even starting to collect the Methane from the cows.

        1. Bob S says:

LEV electric cars? That’s the Chinese government. Our government is arranged around freedom for it’s people, not to take their money to compete with other governments. IF the Chinese get out front on the imaginary global warming race, then everyone will benefit globally. Meanwhile, if global warming was anything more then just a money grab, a redistribution of wealth to government, and a movement against the use of fossil fuels, then you would see a plan to change our consumption of livestock.
Until then, it’s a hoax perpetrated by the left.

          1. bobnstuff says:

We are seeing under Trump a redistribution of wealth in case you missed what is going on. Every action he has taken puts more money into the 1% pockets. This idea that climate change is a hoax has been funded by the Koch Brothers and started around 2010. What you have is a money grad but as always it’s those with the power that are doing the grabbing. Up till 2010 the republicans supported the idea of climate change as did most conservatives.

China is the world leader in electic cars and they are the future. It looks like Volvo is building a plant to produce electric cars in China. GM already is building them there. America has been loosing it’s leadership in the auto industry for some time now and by the time Trump is out of office we will have handed leadership in both the auto industry as well as green energy to China. The right wing complains about exporting jobs but right now we are exporting our roll as world leaders.

China has canceled plans for 100 new coal fired power plants. One little fact you might have missed, China per capita adds half as much carbon as we do. As a businessman you would think that Trump would understand just how much money is going to be made from the change to a cleaner world. The Chinese have. They are going to clean up their environment and turn a profit doing it.

One other fact you might have missed is that we are eating less meat in the US. We are in fact changing the consumption of livestock. Now here is another interesting thing. They have figured out how to grow meat without the cow,

    2. Olaf Thunderfoot says:

Where is your proof that this will give power to the Chinese?

      1. bobnstuff says:

Now you can show proof that they will not end up at the head of the table, one that we no longer have a seat at.

        1. Olaf Thunderfoot says:

The kiddy table… Let them fight the myth of global warming.

          1. bobnstuff says:

Funny thing is it’s only a myth to the weak minded. The educated people know it’s a fact.

          2. Olaf Thunderfoot says:

You sure do post enough of them.

          3. bobnstuff says:

I have little faith is sights run in someone’s basement but those are the ones you like best. Do you ever check who is saying this stuff?

          4. Olaf Thunderfoot says:

I have no faith in the leftist opinion rags you post, do you even bother to fact check them? The word you want is sites, not sights.

          5. bobnstuff says:

I fact check just about every sight I read. The sights I use are staffed by professional journalists and are not located in some ones basement.

          6. Olaf Thunderfoot says:

You are too stupid to use the proper word which is SITE not sight. That being said, the SITES you look at are “alternative fact sites” such as huffer post and cnn, why are you even posting your bullshit in the threads here? I am so done with your stupidity on this thread, good day.
