ATF pushes bullet ban, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle

February 26, 2015

It’s starting.

As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela’s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

“Certain forms of ammunition have no legitimate sporting, recreational or self-defense use and thus should be prohibited.” These words were spoken by Ronald Reagan when he signed a law banning armor-piercing cop-killer bullets in 1986. The House passed the measure 400 to 21.

It seems that the EMPEROR OF THE EMPTY CHAIR, Holder ( AKA Loretta Lynch) are in mortal Feat of a CITIZEN UPHEAVEL agin the Elected Dummie C rats turds…..and their “UNATRIOTIC “policies……. SO… they are leaving the rails and ignore thet anyone who wants bullets already has them … just look at the amounts spent in So Chicago daily!!!!. and the ones stashed by Sharpton THUGS!!!

  • bobnstuff says:

The sportsman need cop killing rounds because you never know when Bambi get bullet proof vests.

    1. The redhawk says:

      or Sharpton’s thugs may be??

Another bogus FOX story. They just keep exaggerating and lying.
The bullet that is in question is an M-855 green tip armor-piercing bullet that can be used in handguns. Do you really need to “stand your ground” or fend off an intruder or rapist with armor-piercing rounds? In a handgun? Do you really need to shoot a deer or moose with armor-piercing bullets? Most police agencies in the country have lobbied for this. It’s not about government gun control – it’s about common sense.

    1. The redhawk says:

and another Gruber IDIOT wasting our time!! Carry on MORON! Have you tried to but .22 bullets lately? Just the most popular type …..Just blame FOX instead of the IDIOT EMPEROR OF THE EMPTY CHAIR…

Walmart had a bunch. I’ve had no problem. Steel tipped rounds rip the back stop up to much.

        1. The redhawk says:

I’ll try mine 2 again.. they’ve been OUT fir Months..

          1. bobnstuff says:

About one in three Walmart’s around
here have them. I went on line and checked. They have had them every
time I’ve wanted them. If you go to their web sight you can check and see which stored have them. The shortage of ammo is not caused by the
government or because of exports, it’s people buying ammo they don’t need but buy it anyway. I have shot steel jacketed ammo, and can’t see it as any good for targets plus it’s hard on the gun. I got 500 rounds cheep but I don’t think I would ever buy them again. These gun nuts are driving up the cost of everything. Any time Fox or the NRA scares them they go buy more and push the cost up, the gun companies love it because they wouldn’t have the market other wise. How many riffles do you need? They don’t wear out, My deer riffle was my Gran
Dad’s and is close to a hundred years old. My 22 is over eighty and it’s the gun I learn to shot with as well as my son’s and in two years my grandson. When you make things that last you have a problem
            selling more of them.

          2. The redhawk says:

I just hope that the ones buying up the ammo are not the SHARPTON TYPE THUGS or the SO CHICAGO Choir Boys… as for me.. I ‘ll LOAD up from now on with more than .22’s
It may be that Lock and load time is approaching… Be well!

          3. bobnstuff says:

The gun manufactures say thank you. I don’t think ammo improves with age so I think I will only buy what I need and can use. I don’t live in fear like some people so I don’t have to waste money buying thing I don’t need.

          4. The redhawk says:

Good for you… I just want a few boxes for target practice and for eventualities.. Coyotes and what else gets in my yard…Just like to be ready instead of sorry..

          5. bobnstuff says:

Anything more then 1000 rounds on hand is a waste. I lost my shooting range, They filled in the strip mine
and built a house behind me so now I have to go some place now to shot. I understand collecting guns but the only thing steel jacketed bullets should be kept to showing with the gun not to fire out of it. They will mess up the barrel. Anyone one who say’s they need them to protect their house is a nut, a 12 gauge shot gun is what you need, point and shoot. If you need an automatic you shouldn’t go there.

          6. The redhawk says:

1000 rounds , night vision and a scope will do just FINE!!… Let Crazy uncle JOE have a shot gun.. I’ll take a magazine full of LETHAL stuff!

          7. bobnstuff says:

A 12 gauge will do, You point it in the direction. Pull the trigger. I don’t want to kill anyone just keep them away. Plus your way gets one at a time.

          8. The redhawk says:

but one “WARNING SINGLE round over their heads … and if they are too Dumb to turn and run, then it will be One shot… well followed by as many needed without having to reload.. and.. no more Vermin on my side of the fence.. YA THINKS??

          9. bobnstuff says:

I don’t have much need for shooting at living things where I’m living. We have a very low crime rate. Our
local police have little to do so self deference isn’t a problem. I’m not much bothered by four legged ones either, ground hogs are the only real problem here. I still think a 12 gauge is more intimidating, three shoot pump. That clic clic of the pump has a nice

    2. Dan S. says:

The only “hand guns” these rounds are used in is the ar15 “pistol” which basically is an ar 15 without a butt stock. That is not exactly a hand gun. I have never seen a hand gun that large. The government needs to leave our rights alone though. The ATF is NOT and NEVER HAS BEEN a branch of our government. They do not have ANY business trying to tell we the people what we can and can not do. Also, the emperor of the empty chair needs to START going by our constitution and go through congress if he wants to attempt to limit our rights which “Shall NOT be infringed.”

      1. I Seigel says:

The ATF is a branch of the Treasury Dept, which is a branch of our government. And the rule that Obama is proposing would limit ammunition, not guns. So your rights to guns are not being infringed.

And there are new handguns coming on to the market that can handle these armor-piercing rounds. That is what alarms the police and Congress. Congress chose NOT to exempt handguns from restrictions of this type of ammo. So Congress needs to go back and make handguns exempt. Otherwise, the ATF is within its authority to prevent handguns from using this type of ammo. If they can’t restrict the guns, then they’ll restrict the ammo. Done!!

        1. Dan S. says:

There are only three branches of the government. They are the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. It has been this way since the founding of our nation. The ATF is nowhere in there. By the way, if ammunition of any caliber is banned, what good are the weapons that fire that caliber of ammunition other than expensive paper weights? Is that not infringing our rights to own those weapons to an extent? Therefore the ATF is NOT within it’s “authority” by banning ANY caliber of ammunition what so ever. The ATF is merely a small department of the government by the way.

          1. I Seigel says:

Sorry. My semantic mistake. The ATF is a department or agency within the Treasury Dept. Which is one of the oldest Cabinet departments of our government. It is not, in itself, a “branch” of government.

That doesn’t negate any of the remainder of my statement, however.

        2. The redhawk says:

You still have NOT a CLUE…

    3. The redhawk says:

You really don’t have a CLUE do you????
