Boehner: Build Keystone, change O-Care

November 8, 2014

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) signaled the House would start off the next term with legislation approving the Keystone XL pipeline and making changes to the healthcare law.

Boehner also vowed to re-pass a slew of House jobs bills that did not move in the Democratically led Senate, as well as a bill to encourage businesses to hire veterans.

“These types of common-sense solutions, so long ignored by the outgoing Senate majority, offer a good starting point,” he said. “They’ll help break the logjam here in Washington, and establish a foundation of certainty and stability that both parties can build on.”

Why are we building a pipeline for Canada? We aren’t going to get any of the oil, it’s for export, the numbers of jobs is small and the chance of spills great. The part of the pipeline we need is already built and in use. I hope they pass some real jobs bills not the junk they passed last time, cutting EPA regulations is not a jobs bill, cutting taxes on the rich is not a jobs bill. A bill that creates real jobs is what we need. Fix the ACA so it works, after all it’s based on a republican law in the first place.

I’m not sure I understand your point? We have oil in America and refineries. The oil will be shipped to Canada which will make money for the states who have oil? Spills? Very small risk. Cutting taxes on the rich who start companies and hire people actually is helpful. A good basic class in economics will explain that though.

The pipe line will create very few long term jobs because it take very few people to run a pipeline. Well over half the pipeline is already built and is in use, have you seen any large growth in jobs from it? It has done one thing, raised the cost of gas in the mid west. Tar sand oil is corrosive and ten times more likely to leak, in fact they have been having problems with the pipelines in Canada. Ask yourself why is Canada not running it through Canada? The oil will go to the gulf coast to be shipped overseas. The one thing I don’t understand is why they want to run it through an area that it could hurt when they already have a pipeline that is in use going a different path. Why not just expand that one.
The very rich are not the ones that create jobs it’s the middle class that start companies and spend money. Most job growth comes from small business. Supply side economics doesn’t work. I’m willing to guess you have never taken a class in economics. Our economy is demand driven. If you want to see he economy grow make it easier for small business to get capital. Most banks will only loan money to businesses that don’t need it. The government gave the banks money at no interest to loan but instead they used it to buy treasury notes that pay 3%.

Ok-helping small businesses to get loans would help and so would cutting taxes.

Cut the taxes on people making up to $400,00 per year. Although taxes aren’t that big a problem for start ups because of write offs. When you first start out its getting taxable income that is the challenge.

Here’s a guy who actually gets it!! Hurray!! Not one thing you’ve said (here) I disagree with.

I hope you stick to your words Speaker Boehner. Be bold, and assertive, never let Obama dictate to you what he wants. Please do the right thing and just follow the constitution, while Obama violates it. That is his problem. But please don’t let him knock you down, don’t listen to his demands, like a king. Just follow the right thing. Righteousness is built on a strong, honest, and reliable foundation. Thank you.
