NFL Ratings Take Massive Hit As Players Refuse To Stand During National Anthem

September 8, 2017

Ex-NFL-PlayerThe beginning of the new NFL season was not exactly a winner for the league and NBC.

While better than anything on any of the Big 4 have done in the overnights in months, those numbers are down a sobering 12% from the early results of the Denver Broncos’ tight 21-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers in last year’s kickoff on September 8, 2016.

Long season short, that’s not a good start for either the NFL or networks hoping to gain some traction from last year’s ratings blows.

To put some greater context, the 2016 kickoff game, which was down from both the 2015 and the 2014 openers, went on to snare a 9.4/33 rating among adults 18-49 and 25.19 million viewers.

The product that sports fans have been overpaying for, for years, has very much changed into a completely different product that many wouldn’t want if it were free, let alone have to pay for it. Anti-American, USA bashing protests are just not something people want to see, let alone pay for.

players make the big bux if the team makes big bux….these millions of $$$ contracts will cease to be if these jerks keep it up…

Do not forget that the NFL gets a lot of money from NFL merchandise. Do not buy any jerseys, equipment, etc that is NFL sold. Also, ticket holders should not go ti the games. Do it for just one game. When nobody shows up and the stadiums cannot sell parking costs, food, etc, maybe they will force the “foot”ball-less Roger Goodell to actually take a stand. Also, force the owners to lay down some rules. Fire anyone who does not stand for the National Anthem. Also tell them there will no longer be flowing hair from under those helmets. Facial hair gone. You got tats, no displaying them- wear long sleeve shirts, turtlenecks, etc. Got tats on your face- adios. Until we tell these pampered, overpaid, freaks of nature that the earth will not spin off it’s axis if they are not allowed to play, they will continue this childish behavior- that’s right boys, you look childish to the majority of the country – little boys, who should go in a corner and suck your thumbs. We have now started seeing the real men who played this sport (yes it is just a sport, not a lifestyle) come forward and show what the players of yore were made of. No nonsense. Did their job. Got paid for a job well-done. Stayed apolitical. To the players of today – just let the people who work tougher jobs than yours, who earns a fraction of what you earn, sit in their Lazy-boy, sip a couple of brews, and enjoy a good clean game. If they wanted to watch political BS, they could tune into CNN or MSNBC on Sunday.

They can do what they wish and so can I. Any team that allows this to happen will be losing fan after fan. Things will not change until the owners begin to see a decrease in profit from the team and cuts contract salaries. It is always the money and NEVER any supposed ‘objections’.

nfl NEEDS TO MOVE TO eUROPE WHERE THEIR IGNORANCE is more in tune with the left wing fools. America ; “LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT”.

I am 63 years old and have been an NFL fan since I was five. I have watched every Super Bowl except when I was overseas in the military.

Green Bay’s Lambeau field will always be hallowed ground, but I’ll never see it again. I will never watch another NFL game or spend money on any NFL merchandise. I will keep wearing my Jack Lambert jersey, but that’s because it’s Jack Lambert’s jersey. I will always love the game but don’t feel the need to support pro football when they no longer respect the country that I spent most of my adult life defending. If college football follows the same path I will no longer support them either.
